It was a callback to earlier in the episode - when Simon introduced her he said something along the lines of "our producers assure us she'll be big by the time this episode airs. Too bad it's still November and none of us know who she is". (Except funnier than that.)

I never know a single song or band this show mentions. And that is absolutely expected. A couple of 80's rock band names and a handful of music titles. That's all I know of music. Can't bother when 90% of 'music' is like rusty nails stabbing my ears.
