'El Tío Merejo', goat herder of Tololo
In the pre-mountain range of the Norte Chico (Andes mountains), a small group of goat herders perpetuate their way of life by coping with the distressing dryness and climate change, increasing the daily grazing radius and reinforcing family solidarity and social ties, as well as their faith in the Virgin of Andacollo. The Ramos family, whose oldest member is the nonagenarian Ermenejildo, 'El Tío Merejo', continues to graze transhumant goats in the midst of this arid geography.
