I feel like this is something they can iron out, or be more clear about in the documentation. If you don't need the 1/4" input, it seems comparable to a Focusrite Vocaster, with a more advanced software feature set (but at almost 3x the price of the 'One', or 2x the 'Two'). Thanks for another informative video!
Yeah, the featureset is terrific, but the price is definitely on the higher end compared to competition. I love the Vocasters, but find the software pretty lacking.
The Connect 2 seems so good at connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting XLR microphones that it makes me wonder if it's secretly in a complicated on-again, off-again relationship! But not being directly connected I'm not sure 🤷🏻♂ but great video as always Tom
Has yours been doing that?! Mine worked ok through the hub for listening to audio, but started doing the on/off thing when a mic is connected. Work fine with a mic when connected directly to the computer though, thankfully.
@@tombuck I don't have one but a friend of mine. It was doing that yes but after a very scientific issue isolation process... i.e. randomly changing XLR, audio and usb cables, it stopped. I think support for two mics would have more universal than mic + instrument. Especially as it's rather more expensive than the competition. The design is attractive and practical. Though maybe headphones to the front would suit some better. What o/s does the software support?
Vocaster 1 still king for 1 person podcaster/content creator… Is there an option to disable the instrument input and change the audio to mono instead of stereo? Also is it the same knob controlling both audio output at the same time? You have 3 different outputs technically. My main problem with some audio interfaces is that the headphones level is always the same as the monitor speaker levels. Is there an equalizer in the app? Not every voice is the same and those 3 modes are just not enough.
Tom: I am currently using a Shure MVX2U for my SM7B. I am not a big fan of the new Motiv Mix software update, so I am thinking about upgrading to a Connect 2, Scarlett 2i2, or Vocaster 2. I only record my voice and I want auto-leveling (auto gain), which all three of these offer. Which one would you spend your money on?
Honestly, they're all pretty great. I think Lewitt does the best overall job with auto-gain and clipguard, but the others are good too. I think it honestly comes down to which one suits your budget best, and if you prefer one design over the other. You can't go wrong!
Interesting. I got and enjoy a connect-6 for the DSP (EQ, compression etc) for Zoom and MS Teams meetings. The connect-2 doesn’t seem to offer this same functionality.
USB interfaces are usually not intended to connect directly to cameras (the exception being the Focusrite Vocaster, which does have a 3.5mm camera output 👍).
My friend I bought this product is it good with Rode N T 1 microphone? I canceled (ordering the fourth generation Scarlett 2i2). Is it possible, after recording, to modify the sound from another program? When recording, does the sound not stop when the headphones are connected?
Yes on both counts. Both this and the 2i2 will work very well with condenser mics like the NT-1, and once the Audi oil recorded, you can EQ and process it to your heart's content. 👍
