I remember getting to know the drivers from the late 80's/early 90's. The friendliest bunch of all the Firstbus depots. Thanks for all memories, hope some of are around next time I visit, which I hope, will be in the near future.
So sad to watch this video 😥 All the team at Bury depot where a family and was always nice and friendly to me back in the day when I was proper into buses as a teenage lad (Gm North days) used to give me bus pictures, ticket rolls and clipper cards etc 😊 even took me on a tour of the depot and let me sit in the cab of my then favourite bus the Leyland Atlantean 👍 such a shame they ever sold out to first group in the first place as GM buses was excellent and everything started going south after first took over.
First really are struggling to balance the books now, depot closures and company sell offs, they closed the depot I worked at in Leeds many years ago, closed 2 depots, Kirkstall & Cherry Row, and replaced them both with Hunslet Park, with a reduced PVR and staff level. Cherry Row was like a small family depot, and had a great supervisory staff, it was rare to have a bad shift there, and the buses all went like stabbed rats, unlike Bramley & Kirkstall buses. Wishing all the Bury & Pioneer staff all the very best for the future
37429 was the last bus i wish they kept that depot the service wasnt the same after that depot closed the 471 used to be great now diamond bus operate it and its crap :(
At least all buses and routes got redistributed to First's other depots an all drivers kept their jobs. At least the old depot has now been bought by The Car Group so the site will not go to waste
Ive heared its gonna be a car showroom transdev would of liked to buy it as they closed haslingdon depot the bloody idiots i liked that depot spent a lot of time there
