I bought the One Blade about a year ago after watching one of your videos and it works great. I use it to shave off really long stubble and then use a cartridge razor to finish off the job.👍
I’ve personally invested heavily financially and practically in shaving. Here’s what I’ve found based on years of experience looking for shave I want. (I want the smoothest quick shave without getting ingrown hairs or irritation.) 1) Annually, with daily shaving, the Oneblade will cost the same as buying the Braun Series 9 with cleaning cartridges replacing the cleaning cartridge solution every 19 cycles (I took over two weeks to count exactly how many cycles until the light turns on.) 2) The Philips Norelco OneBlade doesn’t provide the closest shave when “close” is defined by the length of hair protruding from the skin. However, “smoothness” I have found the OneBlade can provide (with extra work) a shave nearly as smooth as a Double Edge Safety Razor. This is all from my experience, not the opinions of others. 3) Using Leftric Shave or another electric pre-shave will make this even smoother. If your goal is the closest shave, the Gillette Fusion 5 should be the winner because it will cut under the skin, but that’s a problem. Cutting under the skin produces ingrown hairs. Don’t get me wrong, the experience of taking a warm shower followed by shaving against the grain with a new Gillette Fusion 5 ProGlide using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Sensitive 2 in 1 Shave Gel is AMAZING. (Assuming you didn’t break out in ingrowns the next day.) But you know, like I do, that those sharp, amazing shave experiences don’t last very long on those blades. In my experience, the way to get an oil-covered baby butt dish soap lathered slip and slide smooth shave is using a double-edge safety razor. The best part is you don’t get breakouts. It takes time to learn, but I go against the grain nearly everywhere on its face every time I shave and am never disappointed by blade performance. Double edge safety razors are much sharper, profoundly cheaper, and easy to learn.
Am I using my safety razor wrong? I’m watching this video to switch to a electric razor at Christmas because everytime I use my safety razor (the Gillette king C one) I break out in so so many ingrown hairs. I figured it was just my Afro Caribbean hair being more likely to cause Ingrown hairs
I just got the OneBlade 360 and tried it out. Wow! It is so fast in removing hair and it is so easy to clean. I never did like cleaning foil shavers. Thanks for the comparison and knowing that I have the best one.
This was exactly the kind of review I was looking for. Commenting to help get traction. Takes a little bit to grow the goatee than most RUclipsrs put into a video.
Compared to its competitors, a Braun foil shaver performs the closest shave for the hairs that it catches, however it will leave more stray hairs as a result of its lesser ability to catch hairs, especially around the neck where the skin concaves. The intended purpose of the XT5, probably, is to clean up these stray hairs because it really doesn't work well as a full routine shaver, but does excellent cleanup because it trims closer than any trimmer and it also has a shaver to cut the stray hairs even closer still. The proper way to shave with this pair is to not seek perfection with the foil shaver, knowing that the stray hairs can be cleaned up well with the XT5. I believe the the XT5 was intended to be used with the lower end models of Braun foil shavers, because Braun knows their lower-end models don't catch hairs well, something they've resolved with their higher end models which have double center shaver. Overall, this pair performs a better shave than its competitors in its price-range, just understand that they are probably designed to work as a pair and a pair only.
@@hashisgod No. I am simply explaining the logic of the XT5 in the eyes of the company that is not immediately obvious to the consumer, to answer questions about what the point of it is, considering that it doesn't perform well as a full routine shaver. It is designed to be used in conjunction with Braun's lower end foil shavers. This person's review risks judging the XT5 out of context.
The Phillips One Blade is just awesome. I have a light soft beard and it works just great for me. I am retired and don't have a need to shave daily so I shave every second or third day. If someone uses this for about a month they will never go back to what they were doing previously.
I bought a Phillips One Blade about a year ago and it sucked as I recall right off the bat. I forgot I bought it and bought another one a couple weeks ago and realized why I slung the other one in the junk trimmer bin. It stalled out and hung up in my beard the first time I tried to use it. Never buy a Phillips Norelco again.
The price of a single one blade replacement in the UK is almost half the price of new unit. Which is ridiculous for how long they have been out now. I opted for durablade. Not as good, but if you keep it clean and oiled, works fine for years without the fuss.
Had my one blade for 6 years. Never let me down.. the blade doesn't take a fall too well. But the thing is amazing! First time seeing this new model.. if mine wasn't holding on, I'd definitely buy another one.. thanks for the review
@@TheDjmathe, thank you for the heads up. Do you have any recommendations for shaving the genital area or buttocks? It appears pretty overgrown, and it is my first time attempting to groom it.
@tanphucngonguyen53 I keep away from bum, but this shaver should do the trick. I'd say machine for pubic bone, chest, belly, bum, and razor for bollocks, armpits. Maybe it's better off using a razor for between the bumcheecks, but I'd avoid it because it'll itch like crazy.
I agree that One blade is the best, even if in my part of Italy you pay less for the Braun xt5 and for the same cost of the replacement heads, with one blade you get a cleaner shave with fewer strokes and consequently with less waste of time, I fully agree with your review👍
I think the clue is to stick with the Philips but i sure did like the sound of the braun and the build of the body. Ive been using the one blade since it came out. Does a good job but has me looking for better. Blades seem to be overpriced and it's terrible when they wear and and cut you. Always catches me by surprise.

Sir, I watched almost all the One Blade videos, I could not understand this : you shave in the direction of beard growth with traditional razors, but with the Philips One Blade brand you shave in the opposite direction. Wouldn't this cause ingrown hairs?
What is important for me is that it creates a baby face. If the middle part of the Braun xt5 blade plucks the hair and provides a razor-sharp appearance, my preference will be the xt5. But if it cuts equally with one blade, my choice would be one blade, which one do you think I should choose? Which one is better for cutting like baby face?
Never being a fan of electric shavers but the one blade has got my attention now after seeing this video. How are they both on blade use with time before needing to replace them?
Also after watching a lot of your videos the past few days I have to admit I find your voice rather soothing to listen too. Just makes me wonder do you do public speaking or presentation type work?
Got a oneblade pro yesterday was hesitant to spend so much on a shaver I've always been happy with my straight blade but I'm tired of the work it takes DAM one blade gets really really smooth no to as close as my SB but very close I'm super impressed
Yes! The offer a body comb that helps prevent cuts. They also make a OneBlade intimate model specifically designed for manscaping- thanks for watching 👋🏽
Nice one brah! I use the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 1100. It's small size means it fits in my toiletries bag for travel. Powerful little thing for what it is. Always use it to trim down the beard before a shave if I have it too long. Then bring on the brush, creams, soaps and blades.
the narrow neck also make it better for getting to areas near the pelvic junction than most didja notice that the oneblade pro made the mistake of a square neck, which they then reversed as much as possible when the refreshed it to the current model
Just walked out of the store thinking I would look for reviews on the XT5. Perfect timing and a nice review. I would add pricing. The xt5 appears to be $10 more than the highest-end OneBlade. I didn't notice XT5 head pricing and have not seen any longevity comparisons. That would be important when comparing head prices. Also, I wish you would have shaved the beard down before you shaved it off. I use the OneB to trim my beard and if I have a gripe, it's the oneB combs do not clear well, I spend a fair amount of time between passes to clear them. Good video, thanks.
The xt5 blades last 6 months before needing replacement and the "one" blades only last 4. I'm currently looking for the better choice and I know those numbers from both of their web sites. 2 extra months of use for the 4D blades is a hugh factor. One is 2 blades a year and the other is 3.🤔
I just bought the face and body for myself and bought the face model for my dad. I didn’t see the one you tried out in the store. Nice video but to me in the short time I’ve had mine I can’t tell any difference between shaving wet or dry, what has your experience been? I do admit I’m glad the Norelco beat the Braun.
I have been using OneBlade for about 4 years. Very happy about it but wanted to try something new so I bought Braun XT5. I tried it two times and throw it away. I don't understand how Braun could release it. It cuts much slower, less efficiently than OneBlade. It hurts as it supposed to shave closer to the skin but the result after half face shave did not prove it. Skin is much more irritated. End of testing I stick to Philips. Funny that I also tested Braun series 9 and hated it.
bro if i want to remove a 3-4 day stubble but its as 1/2 dense as yours... probably its 1/4 length as yours , 4 day stubble i have all the time... do u think oneblade does it?
@@averageguytested thank you so much for your answer friend and thanks for the video, it would be nice to put the subtitles in Italian in your videos, thanks
First I loved the one blade but there is a big issue, the heads need to be replaced frequently (every two month for me) and they are expensive. I wonder if the gillette is more durable over time.
I love to use the one blade for shaving the sides of my head. But the I have to replace the blade after 3-5 shaves, which is really expensive. 4 month? I'd be happy about 4 weeks.
That’s a good question. I’d have to say that you could use the comb attachment that comes with the unit at a longer setting first to test out the comfort, but Philips Norelco sells a body kit set of combs that are designed specifically for body grooming.
Very cool review and I'm glad I subscribed, also want to thank you AND Ms. Hailey. I got my OneBlade Face Pro as a gift for Christmas and your review makes what I already loved stand even more. Happy New Year and I can't wait till your next review.
I’ve had a one blade for a lot of years now, i do now think the blades are a little expensive and i’ve broke so many. The last one fell out the bottom draw and snapped…..grrff, it was used twice and at €18 a time!
Was excited when i bought it but Braun XT5 turned out to be disappointingly weak, it doesn't cut properly, you do a pass and you still see hairs...i hate it. Wish i seen this before i bought it. One blade gets the job done twice as fast and with better results
I like a very close shave so that's not for me.So a cartridge shaves closer than an electric shaver and a good electric shaver shaves closer than the one blade.
I know it’s 2 years late yet I do believe that the one blade can be an amazing body groomer more than a face shave and have a handheld razor/saftey razor for face. As any trimmer/shaver is really good no matter what brand it is it’s just be careful on the reviews and the brand that’s the biggest advice to people that are starting out
@@averageguytestedAny time I watched your videos on the one blade and instantly I fell in love with it cause it causes no ingrown hairs as well as it’s close to shave so thank you for sharing this to many others to that are weary bout it at first 💯
I just picked up the oneblade pro model like what you have here, I noticed when wet shaving that water and lather get under the plastic cover over the three power lights under the power button then seem to drain from an opening in the base of the unit. I reached out to Philips Norelco customer service and they weren't helpful. Does your's do this?
@@averageguytested So far no, not that I've noticed. I will say that my first two wet shaves with it I used a thicker gel and it did clog up that 'drain port' a bit which eventually made it a little more difficult to thoroughly rinse the blade. Since then I switched to cremo which really works great. I commented on a previous video that I was underwhelmed by the lack of pivot on the new 360 blade design but after a few uses I have to say it works great! I had some trouble spots around my jaw line that the previous design struggled with a bit and I would occasionally grab the skin around my Adam's apple with the blade, the new 360 design has neither of these issues. Maybe it's placebo but I honestly find that I get a closer shave and quicker and with even less irritation (not that there was even that much previously) with the new 360 design. It's a shame they priced the blades at $24 per when I can get x3 'regular' oneblade blades for $30. All in all I can confidently say that I get a more satisfactory, faster, and less irritating shave from my oneblade pro with the 360 blade at $60 than I get with my braun series 9 shaver at $200+. The Braun can get my chin and cheeks glass smooth but it doesn't do great on my neck. The oneblade gives a consistent shave all around.
Thank Tony, for the video. Thinking about purchasing the norelco one blade. I have used just about every cartridge razor on the market. I do not like to use de blades. I need a safe shave.
bought the oneblade a week ago used it once very close shave but my main problem is gave me razer bump , now i'm looking into the XT5 since braun said it will cut close as 0.15mm which ia fine by me , could you please comment in term of shaving closeness which one is giving closer shave ? i mean i'm looking for the electric razer to not shave my face close as oneblade which had razer bump with it so my only other option is XT5 , not too close means no razer bump on my skin which is good , thanks
OneBlade - just don’t press as hard and always cut against the grain with the device. The XT5 will give you a closer cut, but at a price of more irritation and nicks.
There good. In the uk there just cardboard now no plastic. I had a few .but the replacement blades are so expensive. About £17 .when the new unit with a blade and the other bits £33 there normally about £59 the £ is not a lot of difference to the $ you find the prices the same in uk usa and Europe
I don’t experience a loss of shaving efficiency after that few shaves. The blade needs to be changed when the center of the flat face of the blade turns green. Thanks for watching 👋🏽

Thanks for watching!
The xt5 blades last 6 months before needing replacement and the "one" blades only last 4. I'm currently looking for the better choice and I know those numbers from both of their web sites. 2 extra months of use for the 4D blades is a hugh factor. One is 2 blades a year and the other is 3.🤔
@@rpreal772, and the pricing for the replacements? Any difference?
Greetings from Netherland
I just bought the face and body for myself and bought the face model for my dad. I didn’t see the one you tried out in the store. Nice video but to me in the short time I’ve had mine I can’t tell any difference between shaving wet or dry, what has your experience been? I do admit I’m glad the Norelco beat the Braun.
I never use it wet - except in these demo videos. Love One Blade!
I have both. I think it shaves almost as good as the Philips. That's not the problem. The problem is it takes 10 hrs to charge! That's ridiculous!
Always go with OneBlade
I have been using OneBlade for about 4 years. Very happy about it but wanted to try something new so I bought Braun XT5. I tried it two times and throw it away. I don't understand how Braun could release it. It cuts much slower, less efficiently than OneBlade. It hurts as it supposed to shave closer to the skin but the result after half face shave did not prove it. Skin is much more irritated. End of testing I stick to Philips. Funny that I also tested Braun series 9 and hated it.
I agree. OneBlade is undefeated in my book!
bro if i want to remove a 3-4 day stubble but its as 1/2 dense as yours... probably its 1/4 length as yours , 4 day stubble i have all the time... do u think oneblade does it?
Yes
I don't understand the video because I'm Italian, which razor is better? In Italy the blades of the One Blade are very expensive though ..
One Blade!
@@averageguytested thank you so much for your answer friend and thanks for the video, it would be nice to put the subtitles in Italian in your videos, thanks
Hey, great video! Quick question: do the XT5 combs fit on the King C? Gillette made it impossibile to buy them but I'd really like to get those
Yes - it’s the same head.
@@averageguytested many thanks!
Which is the best Philips or braun
Philips, twice on Sunday.
I love the oneblade! Never ever had any nicks or pulls…been using it for years!
Agreed! 100%
Which one the best
The OneBlade Pro Face vs the original OneBlade? Which one is nicer to use? (The original seems more ergonomic to me).
I agree. The original has a better overall feel
First I loved the one blade but there is a big issue, the heads need to be replaced frequently (every two month for me) and they are expensive. I wonder if the gillette is more durable over time.
The Gillette is a rebranded Braun and I’m not sure if it will be better over time - but OneBlade is definitely better out of the box.
Will you be doing a review of the new Cremo razor? Thanks
Yes - this weekend for sure
I love to use the one blade for shaving the sides of my head. But the I have to replace the blade after 3-5 shaves, which is really expensive. 4 month? I'd be happy about 4 weeks.
You’d probably be better off with a beard trimmer or a set of clippers for your hair.
interesting that in UK the braun is £39.99 and the Gillette us only £25 . thats 40% cheaper
Interesting
Which Philips one blade would u recommend?
Any of them. There’s a new replacement blade called the 360, which allows the head to flex from side to side. Video coming soon.
@@averageguytested looking forward..
You looked really smart after shaving with Braun and with half beared on one side of the face 😁👍
😂😂🖐🏽
One serious question? Why don't these electric shaver manufacturers still not introduced usb type C which is much more convenient now? Anybody agrees?
Yes - some of them do offer a USB charging port though
How did I miss this video? I've been meaning to try the Braun but it seems like it may be another version of the Gillette one.
Yes - the Braun is the same with more guard combs in the package
Solid review. I like the look and the compactness of the Braun better, but obviously it was beaten by the one blade in use.
Thanks for watching 👋🏽
Can you use this one blade for body grooming?
That’s a good question. I’d have to say that you could use the comb attachment that comes with the unit at a longer setting first to test out the comfort, but Philips Norelco sells a body kit set of combs that are designed specifically for body grooming.
Whats the difference between - One Blade Face vs Face Pro ❓️
The trimmer on the face pro is one unit with 11 length settings. The face comes with three separate combs that are a pain to keep track of
@@averageguytested
Thanks
How long do the oneblade blades last from your usage?
And have you continued testing the braun, any long term words for it?
I haven’t used the Braun again. OneBlade is the way to go. The blades last at least three months for me.
Grazie sei stato davvero utile....stavo per acquistare Braun ma mi hai tolto tutti i dubbi
👍🏽
Very cool review and I'm glad I subscribed, also want to thank you AND Ms. Hailey. I got my OneBlade Face Pro as a gift for Christmas and your review makes what I already loved stand even more. Happy New Year and I can't wait till your next review.
Thank you!!!! Happy New Year to you!!

OneBlade
The Leaf is now available on Amazon...Waiting for Henson...
No way! Really?
@theMediaMart
which one shaves the closest?
The BRAUN by a slight margin, but the One Blade is the overall champ IMO
I’ve had a one blade for a lot of years now, i do now think the blades are a little expensive and i’ve broke so many. The last one fell out the bottom draw and snapped…..grrff, it was used twice and at €18 a time!
Yes, but you get what you pay for. Believe me on this one. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
dont break em then
Was excited when i bought it but Braun XT5 turned out to be disappointingly weak, it doesn't cut properly, you do a pass and you still see hairs...i hate it. Wish i seen this before i bought it. One blade gets the job done twice as fast and with better results
OneBlade for the win!
I don't understand your language, which blade lasts longer?
One Blade is better than the other two
Which one has blades that last longer ? Happy with one blade as a shaver but the blades could last longer and be cheaper.
The Braun and the Gillette are actually the same razor and their blades are listed to last longer - but they don’t work as well for me.
Thank you for the honest, stright forward plain and simple review.
Thanks for watching 👋🏽
I like a very close shave so that's not for me.So a cartridge shaves closer than an electric shaver and a good electric shaver shaves closer than the one blade.
True
I know it’s 2 years late yet I do believe that the one blade can be an amazing body groomer more than a face shave and have a handheld razor/saftey razor for face. As any trimmer/shaver is really good no matter what brand it is it’s just be careful on the reviews and the brand that’s the biggest advice to people that are starting out
Better late than never - my friend. 👋🏽 thanks for watching and for your input.
@@averageguytestedAny time I watched your videos on the one blade and instantly I fell in love with it cause it causes no ingrown hairs as well as it’s close to shave so thank you for sharing this to many others to that are weary bout it at first 💯
Which is the best braun or one blade?
OneBlade
Have both and the one blade goes through long stubble easier with out plucking or razer burn like the Braun. One bladevis still 👑!
Yes!!
I never looked at it. Does it effect the shave?
Love the video. Been looking at the one blade for awhile. May have to get one.
Go get!
Thank Tony, for the video. Thinking about purchasing the norelco one blade. I have used just about every cartridge razor on the market. I do not like to use de blades. I need a safe shave.
You’ll enjoy One Blade - let me know.
bought the oneblade a week ago used it once very close shave but my main problem is gave me razer bump , now i'm looking into the XT5 since braun said it will cut close as 0.15mm which ia fine by me , could you please comment in term of shaving closeness which one is giving closer shave ? i mean i'm looking for the electric razer to not shave my face close as oneblade which had razer bump with it so my only other option is XT5 , not too close means no razer bump on my skin which is good , thanks
OneBlade - just don’t press as hard and always cut against the grain with the device. The XT5 will give you a closer cut, but at a price of more irritation and nicks.
Thanks for your work. Your review is the most informative I found so far
Thanks for watching!
Dlaczego nie pokazles brauna & gillette
Braun and Gillette are the same device. Go with OneBlade, my friend. 👋🏽
Great video and great review of electric shavers Tony, brah! would you please do a review of Gillette Guard 🪒 Razor!
Yes - I keep promising. Soon.
Great comparison video brah! I bought the original One Blade because of your review a while back, my wife uses it for her legs and she loves it!
Marc Fuentes!! We all lose our gear ⚙️ to our better halves 😂🖐🏽
There good. In the uk there just cardboard now no plastic. I had a few .but the replacement blades are so expensive. About £17 .when the new unit with a blade and the other bits £33 there normally about £59 the £ is not a lot of difference to the $ you find the prices the same in uk usa and Europe
Prices do vary over here too - depending on where you pick them up. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
I like phillips. i had a 3 head unit when i was 18. it lasted ten years before the battery went bad.
Cool. I agree. Love Philips Norelco!
As a dude with thick beard. This is a really cool device
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
thanks for helping us which better
Thanks for watching 🖐🏽
one blade is fantastic but the shaving heads very expensive and after 5 to 10 shaves the blades loose that finesse in cutting.
I don’t experience a loss of shaving efficiency after that few shaves. The blade needs to be changed when the center of the flat face of the blade turns green. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
Thanks for the review. Made my choice easy. Oneblade for the W!
All day! Thanks for watching 👋🏽
Thank you for this Video. So much effort, so professional, excellent review. RUclips quality is going down but it’s still worth to use to for gems like you!! Keep up the good work thanks again.
Thanks! I appreciate your kind words!
Hi.I have both units and like my norelco better than the braun.
Me too!
I really wanted to see the Gillettte Style Matser Pro.
I’ve done a review of that. Search my channel to find it.
why have not you tested omniblade??
Who makes it?

I will. Pegasus - who makes it?
@@averageguytested Handle Design was by the owner in Australia (Peter) and cart design by another person (from Finland if i remember correctly). Look for 'Save on shave Pegasus razor review' our my little list of videos. It's basically what Jeremy's is launching in the USA as an absolute beating to Harry's and i recon this razor will do it.
I just got the brawn I prefer thin not thick while I’m styling so I can see
Got it. How’s the Braun working for you?
@@averageguytested so far I like it the small size and it cuts very good most of it feels rubber very nice

Ok
Thank you very much for your comparison review of these trimmers. I hope gillette style master will live up to my expectations and pay off the money spent on it and save my time. By the way, I trust the Braun company more. maybe this is due to the fact that I have a Braun Silk epil 7 epilator and I am satisfied with it. Greetings from Ukraine🇺🇦
Greetings back from New York!
Maybe I may add, Gillette and Braun are both owned by P&G.
Therefore both devices probably come from the same factory and departments.
Yes, they are the same unit with different branding. Thanks for watching!
hi, when do replace the blade? after how many shaves it will be still efficient?
The Braun’s instructions say their blade lasts 6 months - the OneBlade is good for about 4 months. But I would opt for OneBlade!
@@averageguytested thank you.
braun 7 series 12in1 vs xt5?
I’d have to look at that. I haven’t seen the XT5 much since I did this video.
Thanks for the great review. I will be buying one blade pro shortly.

Philips produces one hundred millionth blade for its OneBlade, the product that disrupted the grooming market in 2016
Good info here. Thanks, brah!
I liked the video. From what I saw 👀 I think the Braun has a finer blade so you get a more close to razor 🪒 finish, especially when you used shaving cream. I am in the market for a new shaver, on my travels I lost my beloved One Blade 🥺. But I did notice that after a few months of use the plastic on the plastic holding on One Blade head world break before the blade even lost its cutting edge. So I'm thinking of trying the Braun. Let me know how it's blade holds up before you need to buy a replacement.
I’m not sure how long the Braun blades last - I believe I read up to six months. I’ll have to check again.
Braun XT5 feels weak to me, it doesn't cut properly.
what is a de?

@@averageguytested thanks for clearing that up. i learned something new today and may buy myself a de razor soon. just got my new one blade face pro delivered a few minutes ago and its currently charging. im excited but i just shaved today so i cant really try it out for another couple of days. thanks for the demo and recommendations!
