This is called trichotillomania, it’s a disorder that many people have where they are obsessed with plucking out their hairs, including eyebrows, eyelashes, and even hair from your scalp.
For all of those wondering why someone would pluck their eyelashes: there could be many things going on but the first thing that came to mind is trichotillomania, a case of OCD where people pluck their hair/eyebrows/eyelashes as a way to soothe themselves.
@@Lverrtrichotillamania is not OCD but it is kinda related to it and often misdiagnosed as OCD since they are both compulsive behaviors. Trichotillamania is similar but lacks the obsessive thoughts that comes with OCD
@@snek3gg Respectfully, I don’t think they’re alike at all or would see how they would be mixed up together. “Trichotillomania” is more “Dopamine regulation” and they don’t have any “intrusive thoughts” as you said, nor do they have that “annoyance” feeling simply because of the pattern. People often do it for stress, boredom, or etc. However, people with OCD can’t control themselves at all when it comes to such behavior and don’t even realize what they’re doing
I started plucking my eyelashes out when i was 13, 22 now. Got so bad, I'd start actually ripping skin and bleed. Started when i was being abused. Found out i have trichotillmania. Luckily, i got it somewhat controlled and don't pull my eyelashes out as much, and they grow back pretty full, thankfully.
Yeah dude I did that from 6-20. They are back now but if you look carefully they are all weird with small small gaps. And they grow criss cross in the middle
I used to pluck my eyelashes due to severe anxiety with my trichotilomania and it was weird being my eyes with no lashes. It was lowkey satisfying seeing how smooth it was tho. But definitely would not recommend
Demnn that must've been painful as hek, i do understand where you coming from but homie how did you live with pain, when i rub my eyes some lashes fall out tho
@@immaisuradze before I plucked my eye lashes I started with my scalp back in middle school and I’d have bald spots, I even gave myself a hairline at one point which was funny as well cause it didn’t even look that bad. With the eye lashes tho it hurts at first but then after doing it so much you just get used to it and become numb to the pain. at some point it feels good but not because you like the pain but you like the relief you feel after plucking the eyelash out. When you have tricho you feel a disturbance in an area similar to an itch and you want to do whatever you can to get rid of that. Thankfully I haven’t plucked for years now so my case is better than most. There’s people who go years to decades with this mental illness and end up being bald in their scalps eyes and faces for men
I only pluck my eyelashes (with my fingers) sometimes. It's only when my eye feels like it's being irritated by them. Plus, since it's only the weaker ones that are able to actually get plucked, my eyelashes are still pretty good.

As a person who is pulling hair for over 9 years I agree. Hair took longer to grow and they are getting thinner and thinner... For all my trichotillomania fellows, seek help. Go to the therapy, psychologist or psychiatrist, you are pulling your hair bc of anxiety, trauma, mental pain etc. Also I recommend fidget toys to keep both hands busy, oils that help with lashes growth (2 in 1, they grow faster and lashes are too oily to pluck them by hand) and try to meditate and/or do breathing exercises when your anxiety levels are too high

I pluck my eyelashes, eyebrows, and scalp hair. I’m really saddened by the people in this comment section basically laughing and mocking people who do this. It is something called trichotillomania. People who suffer from it, like me, will 9 times out of 10 suffer from it for the rest of our lives. We just can’t stop, no matter how much we want to. No, it doesn’t typically hurt unlike a normal person. To us, it gives a sense of satisfaction and euphoria. Yes, we know just how “weird” we are for it. So, shut up!
I knew a person who would pull out there eyelashes every time they got anxious to the point they wouldn’t have anymore lashes I hope her anxiety got better💕
for those wondering why anyone would do this, i used to have a friend that did this compulsively. This impulse (trichotillomania) typically is a stress response associated with anxiety disorders (ocd, panic disorder, etc) that develop from trauma or abusive environments. my friend had a hard time and people not understanding what she was going through and mocking her made it 10x harder.
As someone who had severe trichotillomania and still suffers from it every now and then. Just had an episode a few days back. Some ways to help yourself are: 1) Be determined that you would NOT pluck your eyelashes, eyebrows, hair in general. 2) Get a fidget toy. I had two oval magnets which I would start playing with as soon as I had the urge to pluck my lashes. 3) When you get the urge, begin doing something. An easy task. Something you like. To divert attention. 4) Apply castor oil on your lashes. Not only will you get the ick and find it difficult plucking your lashes but the oil will also help your lashes grow back faster, if you are looking forward to growing them back due to excessive plucking. And dw. It'll get better. I'm proud of all of you guys who are mentioning your struggles and wish to overcome this battle. You can do it💜

Good thing long eyelashes are popular
Plucking anywhere else is less painful. PLUCKING EYE LASHES?? YIKESSSS!!!!!
It's not that painful actually, it doesn't even hurt but maybe cuz im used to it
since i have OCD (which is like anxiety) , i have experienced this. Its a coping or relieving mechanism after stressful thoughts. It doesnt hurt that much and other people pluck their hair or bite their nails.
I do pluck them but it’s only the lose hairs that come out
I also pull my hair out because it a coping mechanism for me I guess
"don't pluck your eyelashes!"
sophie foster:
I love you
The eyelashes: bye we all going to the beach and be back maybe? Never..
Eye: "hey take me tho!!"
My great grandma had to pluck her eilashes, because some of them would grow in the wrong direction and poke her eyes. She did it herself with tweezers, a mirror and a girlboss attitude.
This happens to me sometimes too! Next time it happens I'm going to try to use an eyelash curler and hope that works lmao
Yeah mine grow backwards sometimes
Japanese, Chinese, Asian people watching this …. 💀
This is what I was thinking about
Just say "Asian"
@@jionel_gaming Nah not every asian has light eyelashes
Nahh
I have Trichotillomania, I pick my eyebrows and eyelashes because of it, trust me it’s not fun but it’s hard to stop. It’s comes from genes mostly. It’s caused from anxiety, depression, etc

It's the same with me when my kajal starts running because if sweating or washing my face . My classmates ask me the same question . But I never thought it would be this serious I'm glad I only do this with eyelashes and not eyebrows
The animations are getting scarier 💀

Ouch!
Bro just posted 😂
Its crazy how the thing that protects us, can also harm us at the same exact time, just like our moms. 😭💀
Mona lisa: ......why me?!😢
Not me picking my eyelashes while watching💀
My eye: itchy
My hand: tries to itch eye
Me: don't u dare try to plush my lashes
My brain: ur eyes can't stand it tho
“Lose the ability to re grow the hair “
Eyes; lash growing 📈
Watching this made my eyes water and itch.
Why do bro looks like Voldemort without eyelashes. 👁️👄👁️
for those wondering why anyone would do this, i used to have a friend that did this compulsively. This impulse (trichotillomania) typically is a stress response associated with anxiety disorders (ocd, panic disorder, etc) that develop from trauma or abusive environments. my friend had a hard time and people not understanding what she was going through and mocking her made it 10x harder.
My eyelashes will probably fall into my eyes anyway
I love your videos
As someone who had severe trichotillomania and still suffers from it every now and then. Just had an episode a few days back. Some ways to help yourself are:
1) Be determined that you would NOT pluck your eyelashes, eyebrows, hair in general.
You can do it💜
Me over here wearing fake eyelashes 💀
someone show this video to sophie foster
Sometimes they’re good to pluck out when you have a sty
well someone with trich like me, I’ve been doing it since 6th grade and I’m now a college freshman, it’s so hard not to pick it still years later
Why do people even pluck their eyelashes!?
