hardest part of driving my celsior is turning left at a light since you cannot see oncoming traffic if someone else is turning left in the opposite direction :)
Where I live we don't have roads like that. Only when entering residential areas. The main roads are left Only so you don't need to worry about getting hit by a car you can't see. But I can see where the left turn can be a problem. I did hear some people would install a mirror so you can see the road ahead.
1) multiply the 1st digit by 6 to get mph 2) you don’t have a blind spot for idiots who pass on the right. 3) almost NOBODY notices! They’re all half asleep or on their cell phones. I have a stuffed gorilla 🦍 with a mask 😷 in the left seat 💺. The last person who noticed was another JDM driver this Halloween 🎃 with a skeleton 💀 in the left seat. 4) o I’ve lost weight avoiding drive-thrus
Geat video Jay, I live in a country with right hand drive we drive on the left.. I imported a Corvette ( I kept it left hand drive) so I understand the differences, just the other way around. It definitely does take time getting used to the differences and blind spots
This is so accurate. It’s even worst in a skyline R33 GTR! I do all this lol. I sucks when I drive a left hand drive now. I’m always turning the wipers on when I make a turn or change lanes lol
So glad I found your channel. I literally just picked up a one owner 1995 LS400 and your videos are very helpful and appealing. Keep up the great work!
I worked for Lexus for 15 yrs 92-07 as a quality controller here in Australia , the LS400 was my fav and a huge fan of 90’s Japanese and just purchased a 1997 Crown 1jz with 75000klm on it and arriving soon from Japan , we have a huge JDM import into Australia as we are RHD . I’ve had a few JDM LHD Mercedes from Japan as well , so I have fun every few yrs importing something different.
I've made the "wrong door" mistake countless times in my two visits to England, I'd walk to my buddy's dad's driver side and then say "wait, not this door" 😂
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm considering importing a land cruiser which diesel engine. Are you planning to make a video about your 100 series land cruiser experience? Would love to watch.
JJ, another great video. Of interest to you: My 1995 UCF20R speedometer is calibrated in Km/h...maximum indicated is 260Km/h I noted with interest the max indicated on the Celsior speedo is 180Km/h...I wonder what happens when you get to 181 or 185, 190 Km/h? I've had mine to 210 Km/h ; the handling and road holding IMPROVED THE FASTER I DROVE!!!!! Please produce the video of this event if possible!!!! There is a fantastic bit of Japanese understatment in the owner's manual in the tyre inflation chapter: "If you intend driving your Lexus at speeds greater than 210Km/h, kindly inflate tyres to 40 psi." I love that kind of thing, Cheers from Sunny Australia.
The Gen 2 Toyota RAV4 will be coming available for import under the 25 year rule. Was thinking of buying my mom a low-mileage Japanese import since this is her favorite RAV4 and most in the US have been mercilessly abused. Wondering if the right hand turn blind spot thing may not be as bad since the RAV4 is a taller car with more glass. She can also use it to come out of retirement and do Rural Mail Carrier work 😂.
how long does it take to get comfortable and adapt? Do you still feel more at home in a left hand drive even after driving the RHD for months/years or as long as you've driven it?
For me: My trick is... I wear my watch depending on the country I'm in. LHT country = left wrist, RHT = right. How long? pretty quick I still feel more at home. Believe it or not, I've learned to drive for the first time using a "wrong" hand drive car (country is Indonesia/Australia = RHD), in this case I was using a LHD jeep. Also owns "correct" hand drive cars.
2 things you missed. Unprotected left turns are a big no no, very dangerous as you cannot see oncoming traffic especially if someone is in the turning lane coming the opposite way. And the other would be if you get a stick shift, but that’s oppositional of course. You will feel like a complete idiot for a while until it becomes more muscle memory. And I just thought of another thing. Roads where you are side by side with oncoming traffic makes it extremely difficult and dangerous to pass slower drivers. The trick I’ve learned is moving back a bit to see around the right side of the vehicle but that does not always work.
Young man says, "Holy Shit, Never seen a right hand drive"....please treat yourself to some travel young fella!!! Years ago one only had to cross the border to Canada. Seriously considered buying a 1960 Pontiac Laurentian from Canada as it was FACTORY right drive. Cheers from Sunny Australia.
its fine lol, im a high schooler and i drive a 98 celsior just like any other ordinary cars, except the fuel economy is rlly horrible, i only get like 11-12 in city and 20 on interstates
I am glad to be a part of your community! I just had a quick question about rhd cars….. I was interested in a 1996 Subaru legacy wagon RHD (auto). Would you be able to tell me any info on that car?
Great video. Im looking into purchasing a RHD car ut cant decide if i want a s15, R32, Lexus GS300 or a Chaser. Where did you purchase ypur RHD car from?
Nice. I’ve considered getting an S15 Silvia for my next car, but I’ve grown accustomed to having more space in a sedan. I’m also considering a Ford Fusion Sport with the TTV6 & AWD, but I’d rather have the UK-spec Mondeo with the RHD layout. It would be too much of a pain in the ass to import one though since there’s not really enough difference between the two to justify the costs of importation. The only real thing that sets them apart is the UK spec model has a much larger hatchback style trunk/boot, which I really like more than the US spec model.
@@JJinMotion definitely! I like mine, but it’s got the weak 1.5L eco boost motor. I’ve been looking at prices on used Sport models and they’re not bad at all, way more power and AWD. I think it’s a no brainer.
Just watched this, thanks for pointing out blind spots, I was also curious about the pedals and foot rest; do you use your left or right foot and is it configured the same way in the us or not? Also insurance does it cost more since it’s a RHD?
Pedals are the same as USDM cars, so it’s easy. Insurance isn’t more expensive but the online portal doesn’t recognize the JDM VIN so I always had to call to get it added
Very cool car mate. About 3 weeks ago i got talked out of buying a JZX105 chaser Avante Four in MINT condition with 80k kilometers and absolutely 0 rust because RHD. And Im somewhat sad.
You would think they'd reverse the wiper direction on LHD cars like they do on JDM cars. Wiping the water into your field of view has always been annoying to me lol
In the Russian Far East, around 90% of cars have right-hand drive, despite the region having right-side traffic. Many people here actually find right-hand drive cars more comfortable and convenient than left-hand drive ones!
@@JJinMotion That's who I got a quote for. I was talking with my bank abt getting the money for it and I sadly cannot afford the payments :( was rly hoping to get one. I appreciate the response! Thanks so much!
This makes me want to make a video about dailying my 66 Mustang in the UK. I too often get people at petrol stations interested in it, though that's more because it's a classic American car rather than it being LHD. Being across the channel from the rest of Europe means LHD vehicles here are not that uncommon, and we also do not have any import restrictions based on age. From time to time I will come across nearly new Camaros, Challengers, and other American stuff that was imported new or nearly new. The one thing I don't have to do with an American car is convert the speed as I drive, since we're like the last two countries that still use MPH 😆.

Very true! And also attempting to pass on two lane roads is very sketch lol

can you swap the gauges to mph gauges?
Fair enough 😂 especially number 4 lmao
Also wear your watch on your right wrist to remember to keep right (not necessarily to be always on the slow lane, tho).

love your content! I'm thinking of buying a ls400 for months but haven't found the courage yet!
Thank you! You should go for it! It’s a great daily and even better for highway driving
You must own one or a LS430 they're the very best LS ever made!
I’m thinking about getting a 1995 R33 Skyline GTS as my first car, this video will very helpful if I decide to go through with my decision.
Thinking about getting an Altezza RS200. Such a cool car.
Watching this cause I’m hoping to scoop a Hilux next week but damn that celsior is pretty. The owner had me eyeing up is Crown Royale Saloon as well
Hilux would be sweet!

You can buy adapter FM not necessarily to replace radio 😅
Yeah I did go that route and it works great. Not the best audio quality but good enough for how easy and cheap those adapter are
My biggest concern would be left turns with oncoming traffic. Have you looked into any type of mirror or camera solutions?
I have my eye on a 1999 Toyota Crown Royal Saloon here in Texas. The importer wants 10K for it. Looks very clean...is that a decent price?

driving stick RHS takes about 1 minute to get used to. get a periscopic mirror to see forward on your left side. you can google them
