Hi there, I am a roman catholic priest, and I took the challenge to watch this video with an open mind. I think you did a great work to explain very clearly the logic behind your faith. For me, altough God goed behind our human limited mind, what we believe about Him should be in some way logic, and even "reachable" with our mind, but not understand Him completely. In that sense, my faith gives also some intelectual satisfaction. Thanks for explaining all this, because I can understand much more that it gives a similar satisfaction, because of the logic of your faith, so you did open my mind to see that there are real alternatives for the traditional Christian view of understand important things..

Good to talk to you. Thank you for this reply, and I agree with what you wrote. If you will permit me a couple of more "Mormon" quotes that come to mind, I would like to share them with you.
This first quote is in reference to Isaiah 11:9
"And then cometh to pass the saying of the Prophet: the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. And in that day no man sayeth unto his neighbor, know thy God, for all the children of men which remain upon the earth shall know Him, from the least unto the greatest."
      Then there is this quote:
"I say unto you, that the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven are not mysteries of themselves, but are made so by reason of the truth withheld, and revelations denied unto men. For men pervert the truth, even that which is revealed, to make the heavens a mystery and all things therein.."
I do want to say that even though we have numerous disagreements, I want to share some experience my family had with Catholics.
In the 1970s, my parents were actively involved in the Right to Life movement before and after the Supreme Court decision.. Because of this we became very much hated as a family from the people within the LDS Church, as well as the secular people in the community. It was a trying time. The only ones who showed us friendship were the Catholics, who taught us much concerning the subject. I am always grateful for what they have done. Thank you.

Thanks again for your kind response, the last view days I was thinking a lot about your video, about the inmensity of the universe, about how little we really know about it, and the Earth-centerdness of our thinking, while Earth is just a little tiny peace.. So I am trying to understand, and leaving the idea that our Earth is the center of all is a bit scary, because well, many of us are so used to hear how special it is that on our planet Earth life is possible etc.. But at the same time, it is not against traditional Christianism to embrace the idea that there are also other worlds, even with human life. So, I am open to accept this as a possibility, and I Liked the quotes of the Lord's words to Moses, making this clear, but also making clear that He reveals to ús, humans on planet Earth, just what is necesary for our Salvation, that is, what is contained in Holy Scripture, and additional Scripture. (so, in this way, I can understand that when the Bible speaks of creation, it speaks of the creation of out planet Earth, at least I guess that is LDS teaching?)
I also have a question, I would like to know if this your point of view, or if I am wrong, tell me so: planet Earth is the place where Heavenly Fathers Spirit Children receive their bodies, and make progression, to be ultimately Exalted.. Can I say than, that the "other Worlds" the Lord speaks about to Mosiah are the worlds the Exalted spirits inherit? Or is that again top much Earth centered, because in this view, our Earth would be the only place where we could make progresión? (I hope you will see my sincerity to understand, trying to see those things without the limitations of what I am told to belief. I also hope that you can understand that that takes some spiritual and intelectual exercise to do so..

@@woutjewaalre Yes, Thank you. I will try to answer your amazing questions as best I know, as the spirit inspires me. I realize how different this is to your own religion, and know it takes an incredible person to be willing to think outside the box.
To me, every thing has to have a purpose. Everything must be logical and rational. It has to be scientific and follow the rules. There must be a purpose to why we spend so short a time living this life, and we live forever in the life to come. There must be a reason for the devil and why evil exists and we must overcome evil by conquering our hearts. To me, LDS theology gives me all of that and so much more. It is so deep and profound and so richly fulfilling.
Everything that has been revealed to us in this life, is just that knowledge which pertains to this earth. Nothing has ever been revealed concerning any other world other than we are told they exist. We can see that other worlds exist with our own eyes and with our telescopes. We can also see that we are far from the center of it.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.' Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a purpose to all of God's creations. There is a purpose to every world and every planet. All of the uncounted trillions of them. There is a purpose to every life which lives on every planet. There is a purpose to every heaven. They are all God's creations and they were not created just to look at.
In answer to your last question, yes, the earth is the place where we receive our bodies which are created from the elements of this earth. This earth is the place where we are tested in our choice between good and evil, to compile a record of our good and evil works, so we can be judged by that record. I believe that we are currently ordained only for this earth and the heavens associated with it.
We belong to and are created by the same order which created the earth, and we always will be subjects to that order, and that will never change. But it seems natural that at some point in time we will branch out from this earth and we will inherit or even assist the order of the Godhead in creating entire new worlds. I feel like that includes all of us, both great and small will do our part in creating new worlds and expanding God's kingdoms far into eternity.
My personal hunch is that this earth is more of a testing ground for us, to prove our worthiness to join that society of the universe. I believe there are many worlds with people on them that are likewise being tested to inherit greater or lesser things according to their record.
"9. And how could one who thus possesses a will, which is forever independent of his Creator, be measured for the vast responsibilities of an endless future, except by his record? For how could the government of the heavens be upheld in everlasting security, except the powers thereof be conferred upon those who have demonstrated that the will of the Father is superior to death or to the multiplied sacrifices of life? And how could the hosts of the righteous, who people the celestial worlds, abide forever in His presence if they could not live obedient unto celestial law?
"10. Wherefore, according to the record, which record is kept in heaven, and it is a record of the deeds done in the body, and this includeth the works of repentance, even according to the record, shall it be with every man to receive much or little.
"11. And thus man shapeth his own destiny, even as God, in whose likeness he is made, even in the likeness of his spirit and in the image of his body."
There is an old saying that knowledge is power. The power to create is also the power to destroy. The government of the heavens is one of strict order. No one can be given a place in the government of the universe unless they can be trusted. In other words, no one can be given knowledge to create and destroy unless they can prove they can be trusted. Else the government of the universe could not be upheld in everlasting security.
"the wicked have possessed themselves of all the fullness of the earth, and made themselves wiser in their day and generation than the children of the kingdom; and by their knowledge, have they arrogated unto themselves the powers that be; even to rule and exercise unrighteous dominion over the souls of men. And this have they done because of the free-agency of man.
      3. And now, if I should suffer them to obtain knowledge of spiritual things also, which knowledge is power in the heavens, even as knowledge is power upon the earth, they would seek in like manner to overthrow the institutions of heaven, hereafter, unto their own glory, even as Lucifer. And thus again would the voice of the traitor be heard in the pavilions of the Holy One.
      4. Wherefore, they cannot he permitted to receive it, and are thus shut out from the gates of knowledge by the Spirit of Truth; for He ministereth not unto them, saith the Lord. For this cause was it decreed of the Father, that only through obedience should the Holy Ghost be given to men; yea, through an ordinance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and not by the will or choice of any man; neither can any man obtain the administrations thereof, to lead him into all truth without strict conformity therewith.
As to our spirits, LDS theology teaches that our spirits predate the creation of the earth, and are created from matter which is eternal.
Our spirits that inhabit our bodies are elements just like our bodies are. But the matter which composes our spirits is more refined.
      "33. For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy;
      34. And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy.
      35. The elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God, even temples; and whatsoever temple is defiled, God shall destroy that temple.
      36. The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth." D&C 93.
Elements are not created nor destroyed, but are eternal. In other words, they have always existed through all eternity. Our spirits were created out of elements which were neither created nor destroyed, but were organized from a state of chaos so to speak. The earth was created out of elements that were neither created nor destroyed, but have always existed throughout eternity. Like wise our bodies, which came from the elements of the earth are also eternal. Our bodies may be less than one hundred years old, but the elements which compose our bodies are neither created nor destroyed. This is actually a basic law of physics.

Thanks. I have always believed that pure science and pure religion are in harmony wih each other. Once you take out all of the conjecture and opinions.
The big bang theory for example is believed to be truth by millions of people. But it cannot observed, any part of it cannot be duplicated in a lab, and it cannot explain many fundamental truths we see in the universe. It is still very much an opinion. Yet scientists continue to build massive theories around it as though it were already established fact.
It cannot explain how stars came to burn, as that is still a science which is beyond our understanding. It cannot explain how planets orbit around it in a careful balance.
When we put a satellite into geo synchronous orbit, we have to put little rockets on it that periodically fire to keep it from drifting out of orbit.
If we cannot balance a satellite into orbit for any length of time, how can we believe that blind random chance can do it for the moons and planets? Not only once, but trillions of times judging by the numbers of stars we can see.

True wonderful enlightening. Thank you for this presentation.
I have been a Latter Day Saint for so many years. I love my Lord. I love His Gospel. Yes we shall live forever
and Jehovah has made it all possible.
We lived before we came to be clothed in our mortal bodies in our mothers wombs.
It is a beautiful plan given by our Father in Heaven to enoble us. We choose. Freedom to choose for ourselves is at the heart of the gospel. All choices of course bring consequences. We all make mistakes, that was part of His Great Merciful Plan.
Jehovah of our pre earth life, became Jesus when he was born of his own very dear mother. When he had finished the work the Father gave Him, by suffering in the garden of Gethsemanae, allowing men to betray and crucify Him.
He died that we might live again.
After out earthly death , l testify yeah, we shall all live again. He the Lord Jesus Christ did this for each of us. This He did offer Himself to pay that price. The Father of all mankind loves EACH of us. He may not be happy with wickednesses we have done though.
This is why missionaries teach these things and offer us baptism to cleanse us thoroughly through Christ's spilled blood. I so testify.

Thank you for that wonderful testimony. That really picks me up to read that in the morning. We all are sons and daughters of God, and we are all created to partake in the joys of eternity. Yes, we all commit sins, until some of us learn wisdom. And the Lord gives us space in our lives in which to repent. It is part of His grand plan that we are put through trials and tribulations and presented with good and evil so that we might choose for ourselves, so that we might be measured for our eternal estates according to our deeds done while on the earth. Deeds both good and evil that some of us might become joint heirs with Jesus Christ.

Have you ever considered how difficult it was for our Heavenly Father to send us here, knowing how many he would lose. The idea that one of the great ones rebelled, and took so many with him, and my children are doing the same.2 out of 5 stayed with the gospel. We have to be proven, and by that I mean really tried, to find what we will do , where our heart really is who we really are and where we will be comfortable. The Lord will give us all he can , He wants, us to choose Him, our Father. He gave us guides and rules but we must choose. Its the only way to know who we are. The heavenly abodes must be really worth all the pain and heart break. Father wants us to find out who we are. Satan is such a deceiver. Why would we choose him?

@@Jan-wd1is Yes, as a mother you can sense how our heavenly parents felt about the rebellion and having to test their children in this telestial world run by thieves and robbers. Just keep praying for your wandering children. God has a plan of salvation for them too. Many of God's sheep who appear at this time even openly hostile to God, may turn out one day to be His most valiant soldiers. Look at Paul for an example. Imagine how the first Christians felt when their worst enemy and persecutor suddenly came to their side. It took many of them quite a long time to warm up to Paul, yet Paul became the most successful missionary in history. One of the saddest days in my brother's life and mine was when his two daughters told him they were atheists and one said some really harsh things about religion. Look also to the sons of Alma in the book of Mormon who became open enemies to the church until God worked his wonders on their hearts. You just have to keep praying for them.
The Lord is the Redeemer of all people who are willing to be redeemed. In His due time, even those in hell will be delivered.
God has decreed that the rebellion of Lucifer can never be repeated. He has also decreed that he will never deny us our free will. That is why this test which is our mortal life is so necessary. If we are redeemed to become Joint heirs with Jesus Christ and there is no end to our lives, then it stands to reason there is also no end to our works, no end to our knowledge and no end to our learning. With such great knowledge also comes great power. The power to create is also the power to destroy. God will never allow such knowledge to fall into the hands of the wicked who might start another rebellion against the institutions of heaven. Only those who surrender their will completely to the will of the Father and purge themselves of all evil and regard not the will of man.
That is why there is also multiple kingdoms and degrees of glory. The glory of the telestial kingdom and the joy that those who will dwell there defies all of our current understanding. But the powers, dominions and glories people in that kingdom will be given, will only be with what they can be trusted with not to abuse.

These teaching are blasphemy. Joseph Smith was not the prophet of ANYTHING but lies, otherwise why did his prophecies not come true. The Lord doesn't make mistakes. Therefore His word from a prophet would be his own, and would be righteous. The deception of Lucifer is vast, and Jesus is NOT the brother of Lucifer, as Mormonism states. *If you watch the movie Interstellar, there’s a planet orbiting a black hole named Miller’s Planet where one hour in it is the equivalent of 7 years on Earth due to the black hole’s gravity. “As stated in The Science of Interstellar, the location of Miller's planet is important. This is due to the fact that time slows the closer to Gargantua (the black hole) that you are. Einsteins' Law of Time Warps apparently explains this”. The Bible mentions that 1 day to God is the equivalent to 1,000 Earth years so I wouldn’t be surprised if Kolob is real since it’s apparently in the centre of the Milky Way galaxy and there’s also a supermassive black hole there. Maybe Kolob is orbiting the supermassive black hole and its gravity makes time there go by so much slower than here. There’s also a mention in the Bible of Satan being thrown into a “bottomless pit”/“abyss” for a thousand years... could that bottomless pit be a black hole? Just some thoughts...*

Those are very interesting thoughts. I never considered it from that angle before, where time slows down in different worlds. It's kind of deep, and I have never been able to wrap my brain around Einstein's theories. A lot of people believe that God took six thousand years to construct the earth, which is six days to God.
      Joseph Smith wrote:
4 In answer to the question-Is not the reckoning of God’s time, angel’s time, prophet’s time, and man’s time, according to the planet on which they reside?
5 I answer, Yes. But there are no angels who minister to this earth but those who do belong or have belonged to it.
      6 The angels do not reside on a planet like this earth;
7 But they reside in the presence of God, on a globe like a sea of glass and fire, where all things for their glory are manifest, past, present, and future, and are continually before the Lord.
8 The place where God resides is a great Urim and Thummim.
9 This earth, in its sanctified and immortal state, will be made like unto crystal and will be a Urim and Thummim to the inhabitants who dwell thereon, whereby all things pertaining to an inferior kingdom, or all kingdoms of a lower order, will be manifest to those who dwell on it; and this earth will be Christ’s." D&C 130.

I am 79 years old, and read the book of Abraham when I was about 16 - 20 yrs and I've never heard any negative comments about it. A few years ago I read a book called-Kolob Theorem by author Lynn M. Hilton PhD. It's a good read. Science has been puzzled about what lies in the center of the Galaxy and because they can't see whats there because of interstellar dust they think it is a black hole. The book of Abraham tells us there are 15 suns in the center and gives us the names of these suns. Kolob is one of them, and tells us this sun is the nearest to the Throne of God. Other Celestial kingdoms are also in that region, further out are the Terrestrial kingdoms and the fallen worlds like our Earth are on the outer edges. The Lord tells us in the Bible and D&C that when the Lord comes the Earth will move out of it's place and will become a Terrestrial or Garden of Eden sphere for the duration of the coming millennium reign.

Yes. Thank you for your inspiring comment.
Eliza R. Snow wrote a hymn along the same lines as what you just said.
      The first verese reads:
Thou Earth, wast once a glorious sphere
      Of noble magnitude,
      And didst with majesty appear,
      Among the worlds of God.
      The last verse reads:
And thou, O earth, will leave the track
      Thou hast been doomed to trace;
The Gods with shouts will bring thee back
      To fill thy native place.
We truly live now in a telestial world. Our world is run by thieves and robbers. Honest people mostly finish last. But in the coming millenium when the Savior returns it will be a terrestrial world. Thieves and robbers won't prosper in that world as they do here.
As for the thieves that rule this world, when this world ends so does their reign. This is what they aspired to, and this is all they will get.

I'm sure that this is a typo, but you start by stating that Kolob is a planet. The Lord in the book of Abraham goes to a lot of effort to explain to Abraham about his creations of the heavens. The Lord starts with the earth, then the Moon and Sun and continues on all the way back to Kolob- which Jehovah explains is part of a 3 star cluster in his Celestial Realm. Kolob he explains; is the greatest of all Stars/creations and rotates one time for every 1000 years of human history.
He also explains the humongous size of Kolob, which sounds like it could swallow our solar system.

@MF F I believe the path to the Terrestrial Kingdom passes near the nebula that is in the constellation of Orion. There is a "trail" of stars that brings you to the great dust barrier, or veil, that prevents us from looking into the center of our galaxy. If you look at galaxies you will notice they are white in the center, then red as you move away from the center, then blue on the outer arms (where earth is). I believe those colors are representative of the three degrees of glory. Their are two great walls of dust in our galaxy. One between the white and red, one between the red and blue. The closer you get to the center, the greater the brightness (glory). My personal belief is that Kolob exists in an orbit around the greatest star in the center of our galaxy.

When the earth passes away in one thousand years it is written in D&C 130 it will become a globe of glass and fire in it's immortal state. It says the angels who are resurrected being currently reside on such a sea of glass. We do not know exactly what that is. We do not know whether or not the sun in our solar system is an immortal state itself yet.
Another problem is we should not tie these truths as have been revealed to us to any contemporary theories of the universe as many here want to do. The theories about black holes, warping of time etc. whether they exist or not, what they do etc. has changed significantly in the last fifty years. These theories are a moving target, and just creates instability in our ways if we try to tie our beliefs into that.

In fact, the more I learn about new age spirituality; how we are "starseeds" from alien races on other planets, the more I believe mormon doctrine about possible other planets, other Gods over other worlds, etc.
Thank you for being optimistic. We should all look at our similarities in religion instead of judging on differences.

    • @smallhelmonabigship3524
      @smallhelmonabigship3524  2 года назад +1

You touch on a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Consider this for thought. What if, instead of us being "star seeds" from another planet, what if we are the very eternal beings from other planets? I hope you are open minded enough to let me philosophize a little. Most people can't accept it.
LDS Scripture teaches that we are put on this earth to be tested in our choice between good and evil. We are tested because knowledge is power. The knowledge and power to create is also the power to destroy. God has said that the security of the heavens demands that the rebellion of Lucifer can never be repeated. It is a great responsibility to have great knowledge, and it cannot be shared with just anyone, or there would be chaos in the universe.
Our heavenly parents created us, and they love us more than we know. They want us to be with them for all time, and even to be like them. They want us to know what they know, and love like they love. They want us to eventually be members in their society and inhabitants on their world. But we can't be unless we can demonstrate we are capable of belonging there.
So in order to more fully test us, our heavenly parents put us on this tiny world on the outer edges of this galaxy. They withheld our memories from us, about who we really are, and also what and who we know. They did it because they want to know how well we can be trusted. They gave us the freedom to do good things and even to do terrible, unthinkable things according to our desires. They want to see if it is in our nature without knowledge to love each other, and to do good to one another, or if it is our nature to hate and destroy.
So this short temporary life is a necessary rite of passage for us, for far greater things. Throughout our life here, we are presented with a wide variety of circumstances, each with a choice to make. Our heavenly parents have asked us to do what they wish us to do, and then give us the freedom to decide whether we want to do it or not.
They have given us earthly parents. They want to see if we are capable of loving and obeying them, even though we know they are far from perfect. If we cannot do that, then how can we demonstrate we can love our heavenly parents of our own selves? They have given us dominion over the animals. They want to see if we love and care for the animals, or if we are cruel to them, and kill them. For if we can't be trusted to take care of the animals, then how can we be trusted to be kind, just and loving kings and queens over people? They want to find out if we covet the possessions of our neighbors, who are our fellow brothers and sisters. They want to see if we will rob and steal from them, and even kill them to get their gains for ourselves.
When our lives are over, we are evaluated for how well we did on the test. On this rite of passage for greater things. Every thought, and every action in our entire lives is evaluated, just as if they are our answers to questions on a test. For those that have demonstrated in their test they love their neighbor as themselves, and they love their God, they become joint heirs with their brother Jesus Christ, and inherit all the fullness of our heavenly parent's kingdoms which exceeds all imagination of the heart, and all calculation of the mind. When we look into the night sky we can only catch a tiny glimpse of what those kingdoms have in store for us, where God shares the secrets of the universe with us.
"9. For man have I created that he might have joy hereafter, even to partake of the joys of eternity, which exceed all imagination of the heart and all calculation of the mind. And I would that he might inherit the powers of endless dominion, and not that he might have misery. And for this cause do I call men to repentance."
For those who don't do well on the test, they too will experience a fullness of joy in God's due time according to the kingdom in which they are sent. But where God and His angels dwell, they can never be. Worlds without end.

Yes, I agree with that. I would say it's healthy to have doubts to a point. But there are many things in life, that when you come to know it, you just know it is true. .
If you are open minded, then consider the Book of Mormon that the Book of Mormon dedicates a chapter to the very subject you brought up. Just read through it for a few minutes and see if you are open to an experiment:
"27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.
28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves-It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.
29 Now behold, would not this increase your faith? I say unto you, Yea; nevertheless it hath not grown up to a perfect knowledge.
30 But behold, as the seed swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, then you must needs say that the seed is good; for behold it swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow. And now, behold, will not this strengthen your faith? Yea, it will strengthen your faith: for ye will say I know that this is a good seed; for behold it sprouteth and beginneth to grow.
31 And now, behold, are ye sure that this is a good seed? I say unto you, Yea; for every seed bringeth forth unto its own likeness.
32 Therefore, if a seed groweth it is good, but if it groweth not, behold it is not good, therefore it is cast away.
33 And now, behold, because ye have tried the experiment, and planted the seed, and it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, ye must needs know that the seed is good.
34 And now, behold, is your knowledge perfect? Yea, your knowledge is perfect in that thing, and your faith is dormant; and this because you know, for ye know that the word hath swelled your souls, and ye also know that it hath sprouted up, that your understanding doth begin to be enlightened, and your mind doth begin to expand.
35 O then, is not this real? I say unto you, Yea, because it is light; and whatsoever is light, is good, because it is discernible, therefore ye must know that it is good; and now behold, after ye have tasted this light is your knowledge perfect?
36 Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither must ye lay aside your faith, for ye have only exercised your faith to plant the seed that ye might try the experiment to know if the seed was good.
37 And behold, as the tree beginneth to grow, ye will say: Let us nourish it with great care, that it may get root, that it may grow up, and bring forth fruit unto us. And now behold, if ye nourish it with much care it will get root, and grow up, and bring forth fruit.
38 But if ye neglect the tree, and take no thought for its nourishment, behold it will not get any root; and when the heat of the sun cometh and scorcheth it, because it hath no root it withers away, and ye pluck it up and cast it out.
39 Now, this is not because the seed was not good, neither is it because the fruit thereof would not be desirable; but it is because your ground is barren, and ye will not nourish the tree, therefore ye cannot have the fruit thereof.
40 And thus, if ye will not nourish the word, looking forward with an eye of faith to the fruit thereof, ye can never pluck of the fruit of the tree of life.
41 But if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow, by your faith with great diligence, and with patience, looking forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold it shall be a tree springing up unto everlasting life.
42 And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the word in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and pure above all that is pure; and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst.
43 Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you." Alma Chapter 32
The Bible also talks about a mustard seed.
"Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof." Matthew 13.

It also conforms to known laws of light, gravity and transmission of data. Then you will understand why Kolob is nigh unto the presence of God ( now).... as His presence will be nigh unto earth in the future.

I would agree if they handn't found soft tissue in a Triceratops horn, not to mention I witnessed dino tracks in limestone right next to human footprints with my own two eyes. Science is great but they're finding out more and more that change didn't come by erosion, but rather cataclysm, and though the stones on this old rock may be 7 billion yrs. old, that doesn't mean this orb has been here as such for that long. This planet is the wreckage of other worlds in a telestial space, clinging to the SPIRIT of mother earth. That spirit will shuck this shell and take on its eternal elemental body as soon as she has fullfilled all righteousness. Look at the writings of Joseph Fielding Smith and Brigham Young, to name only two of many. This earth was spiritually born in orbit around Kolob. It transversed space to the outer rim, where it fell into orbit around Sol and was "born" into a telestial habitat. There are a lot of puzzle pieces I haven't been able to fit together - you mention a few of them. One of the pieces that, at least in my mind, leans toward the directed evolution approach of Skousen is earth's geological layering. There is no end to knowledge in the universe. But for us here in this life, there is a limit placed on our knowledge. Our memories of our past existence have been withheld from us, so we can be tested. We are candidates for something so grand and spectcaular, the scripture says it exceeds all imagination of the heart and all calculation of the mind. This life is our test for our worthiness to take on something so grand we can't even imagine it. Joseph Smith said eternal life has the same sociality which exists here only coupled with eternal glory. You have a father, your father had a father his father had a father clear back to Adam who was born spiritually first to to the same heavenly parents as Jehovah then placed into a body made of the dust of this particular earth. It's all a type and shadow of something bigger. God the Father has a God the Father and so on Infiniti or at least back to the point where pure intelligence decided being clothed with element was a good way to express itself.

The primary reason I say Mormon, is because my desire is to engage everyone, and when i say Mormon, everyone knows exactly what i am talking about. Believe it or not, when I say LDS Church, or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or not every one knows for sure who I am talking about. When I was a kid, the Church seemed to frown on using the name Mormon. I could be wrong, but I think it was President Hinckley who gave a talk where he said when he was young he asked why the world refers to the Church as Mormons. His parents or his bishop or somebody said that is the term the world gave to the church because that is the name of the book of Mormon. Then he was reminded of what a wonderful name Mormon is.
I would agree with that. I love to think how it is the name of one of the great prophets and leaders of the covenant people of God recorded in the book of Mormon. This land is a promised land of inheritance to the descendants of the Lamanites and Nephites, and once the times of the fullness of the Gentiles are fulfilled, God will once again more fully graft in the natural branches to the ancient tree of Israel, and give the Lamanites, the seed of Joseph of Egypt, this land for their inheritance. And the Lamanites shall blossom as the rose.
I have always liked the name Mormon For several years the Church said it was okay to use the name Mormon, recently they seemed to have switched back and said people shouldn't say that name.
I am sorry, but I am who I am, and I don't follow trends very well. It was the same way with the first century Christians. That name Christian was apparently given to them by the world as a form of mockery, and that is what they came to be know by. If the world today likes to mock at the name Mormon, then I am not ashamed of being called that. I will take it as a badge of honor.

Isn't it interesting also how God makes us all dependent upon each other for our salvation, even though we are all flawed, sinful, cruel and often irrational beings. We still depend on each other for our salvation. We are all still the children of Adam and Eve. We must all go through the process of conversion, repentance, baptism and ultimately redemption.

That is an interesting statement you made. Because, I bet I am a far bigger skeptic than you. I don't accept anything I was taught in school at face value, until after I found out for myself. And much of what we are taught is not true.
I am going to challenge your entire world view, so just consider a few things if you can.
In order for life to evolve on the earth for billions of years, the earth would have to maintain a relatively stable orbit around the sun for most of that enormous amount of time. You should look into how satellites in geosynchronous orbit maintain their position. They have little rockets that are fired from time to time to compensate for drift to keep them in position. So if small satellites need to be compensated constantly to maintain orbit. How can the planets and the moons maintain their stable orbits for billions of years by random chance? That is just too much for me to believe.
Another thing is the complexity of life. The more we learn about life, the more we realize how complex the engineering is. It could not possibly happen by blind random chance. If you put all the best minds in the world to build something that the human body is capable of they couldn't do it. To create a self aware machine, complete with the ability to process it's own energy, ability to reproduce, and ability to repair itself is so far beyond us, it is not even funny.
Next, consider macro evolution. In one hundred years of trying, so far there has never been even one example of empirical evidence to support it. Not one. The entire theory is based on unprovable conjecture. The only way a person can accept it as truth is if they blindly trust the men who invented it and taught it to the world. And it becomes a religion at that point.

I'm not gonna give you a lesson in orbital mechanics or astrodynamics. Even tho I do have a pretty good understanding, I'm not qualified to teach it.
But very smart and qualified people have gathered an overwhelming amount of facts and proof to be able to explain how it works. You just have to pick up a book, read it and understand it. If you don't understand it, you might be lacking some concepts but fear not: there are for sure more books that can give you what you need so you can make it up the ladder and reach the giant's shoulders.
It's a process, that's all it is. Once humanity realized that using divinities to try to explain everything kept falling short, some of us found a better way to investigate and find how things actually are and work. That's all what science (from the Latin word Scientia, literally meaning "knowledge"): a framework to investigate reality that helps us shed our biases as much as possible, and compensate for the shortcomings of our senses. And it doesn't care about your (or anyone else's) opinion or how you feel about it, it only cares about facts. Even if those facts refute your thousands of years old desert-dwellers stories.
And the best part is: everybody can independently verify it and confute it, provided you supply enough evidence and someone else doesn't independently confute them through the same process. And it works, making predictions and enabling us to create the very tech we're enjoying right now. There's a reason why with the rise of COVID 19 we called up scientists and not priests. Because prayer doesn't work, it never did it never will. Medicine, on the other hand, well, it's saving our butts over and over. And please let's not open the miracles can of worms, that would just be silly.
The only catch is: of course when confuting something you will be held at the same standard of proof. Let's take the "flat earth" idea for instance and let's hypothesize it could have merit, great now all they need to do is to re-explain everything that came after discovering the roundness of Earth and how the solar system and ultimately the universe works. Yeah, it's a lot of stuff, but if the hypothesis is grounded in reality there will be a way to "transliterate" everything from one model to the other. If it doesn't hold, that's a clear indication the hypothesis is wrong. That's a standard of proof, the same process everybody goes through, no exceptions, and the burden is in the hands of who makes the claim, and NOT for the others to prove them wrong.
What explains how our solar system came to be and exists only aims to that, reporting and explaining the facts. Incidentally making the "7 days creation" story, not a suitable explanation is just a side effect, not the main goal.
Macroevolution is not "something invented by someone", but it was a hypothesis that grew into a theory backed by facts from literally everywhere: from observation of the natural world around the world to the fossil remains, down to the very code of life: the DNA. Denying it in this day and age is not been skeptical, it's just the stubbornness of clinging on the old stories. The truth is out there, and thoroughly
and meticulously documented. You just need to pick up enough books and read them. Not just one, A LOT of books.
and please don't make the rookie mistake of swapping the cause with the effect: evolution is not engineering nor a design process, it's trial and error, and what works sticks. Even if it's suboptimal, but it works. The earth is not "perfectly made for us", but we're suited to live on it because we grew and evolved on it. Well, until we'll finally make it unsuitable for us to live on it anymore. The planet will not care much about it, it's just our problem. The planet and everything on it will adapt, some will perish, but Earth and life on it will go on and exists even without hairless monkeys.
Again: history shows it nicely over and over.
But I'm sure people already told you all of that, probably many times over, and you just shrug it off while holding your sacred book. Just as you'll probably try to do with me while simultaneously trying to indoctrinate me. it will not work: I already saved myself from religion once, not planning to have to do it a second time, and for sure not from one of the silliest of christian septs. No thanks :)
Especially considering I come from the people that legit invented the original version of christianity: 312-325 AD, Nicea council. You can look that up in the history books if you really care to know more.

Consider this: if tomorrow all the books, documents, and memories on the planet would be suddenly destroyed, everything discovered through the scientific process and investigation will be discovered again. If you even care about studying the history of our species discoveries you will quickly notice a pattern: no idea came just to a single person. Just to give you a quick example, the very idea of evolution came to Alfred Russel Wallace at the same time Darwin had it. And it's not a chance, it's a direct product of evidence surfacing at the time thanks to the world exploration going on, and gathering of new data observed in nature around the world. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz independently developed calculus at the same time as Isaac Newton, so much it's famous the dispute, and not by chance: times were ripe for that. Study the history of calculus and you'll see it was pretty much inevitable.
But if you destroy all the religious traditions hardly someone will come up with the same doctrines and ideas. Perhaps someone will still try invoking some higher power to cause some phenomena they cannot explain, but it will unlikely be your god or anyone else's gods.
Look at Egyptians and Aztecs, for instance: they both built pyramids, they both discovered geometry and the rules needed to build such buildings, independently. And it worked for both. But when you look at their pantheons and religions you'll quickly realize they're hardly the same thing.
The main difference between "knowledge brought by science" and "knowledge handed down by religion" is as simple as that: the knowledge obtained throughout the scientific process and discovery are universal and universally valid, the knowledge passed down by religious traditions are local to that tradition and once the tradition is gone those ideas are gone.
If tomorrow we'd meet aliens from another planet we could use math and our scientific knowledge to create a base to communicate, regardless of how different our way of communicating is. Because gravity is gravity everywhere in the universe, for example. What about your religious book? Do you really expect those aliens to carry the same text you have that it's not evenly spread and accepted among a single planet?
And while I agree with you that, unfortunately, some have such blind trust in science to almost make it seems like their religion, again let's not confuse causality here: it's a dogmatic approach that makes their approach to science as a religion, it's a direct consequence of dogma (the broad sense is any belief held unquestioningly and with undefended certainty) been the cornerstone of religion, which is why when belief is on the field objective reality goes out of the window. So yes, even if they invoke science they fall into the same faults as religions, and they're hardly representative of the scientific community.
And please, do not confuse pointing you to the literature as anything like invoking a sacred text: there aren't simply enough scientists nor time to give every human a one-to-one full explanation of everything.
Science doesn't claim to have the ultimate truth, that's not how it works. Scientists are, directly or indirectly, constantly trying to prove what we already know wrong. That's how knowledge advances: trying to weed out what isn't quite real while consolidating and refining what actually works giving solid explanation and most of all solid and reliable predictions.
And yes, we most certainly don't know everything, we're not even close to that, and it's perfectly fine.
What is not fine is to quickly reach for "gods", or "aliens", or whatever as an explanation for what we don't know. History nicely showed it, that's why we stopped doing it and why our knowledge and capabilities grew and advanced. Not in spite of religions, but for sake of unbiased, unadulterated, honest understanding.
Galileo was a real christian, he really believed in god and everything but the reality he was detecting didn't match the scriptures. He could have buried his head under the sand and claim it a god's mystery. But his intellectual honesty pushed him to find an explanation grounded in reality. He got burned at the stake for it, but despite that "yet it moves" and it always will (well, until the Sun goes Nova, of course, XD)
And now it's better I stop because all I came here for was to listen to the story of Kolob from those that are part of that tradition and thank for being an inspiration to a show I found very entertaining, and not to do what a lot of other people already did and better than I can do.
Just remember: if you want to be skeptical please do, but when seeking facts always remember to be skeptical about your ideas 1st, and not been skeptical of everything that doesn't conform to your idea.
That's the journey I went through and I promise it's worth it. And to this very day, while I trust the current evidence-based models, I'm always ready to change my mind in light of new compelling evidence.
Even on the possibility of the existence of higher powers, and just like me all the scientific community because when something new is prooven it means we learned something! :D
And that's really the only goal: learning, but the real stuff.

Of course it is fact the Earth was formed much, much earlier than 6,000 years ago---closer to about 2 billion years. It's perfectly possible there is intelligent life elsewhere on other planets. As for Kolob, a reasonable question must be asked: if we were able to travel on a spaceship to this supposed Kolob, would we be able to meet God himself? If he's living there, then he is a living being, to whom we could introduce ourselves and interact with, right?

    • @smallhelmonabigship3524
      @smallhelmonabigship3524  Год назад

I am sure it is possible, but it is totally beyond the knowledge, power and authority of man to travel there.
Mormonism teaches that the elements which compose the earth are billions of years old. In fact they are ageless. The elements were neither created nor destroyed. But the earth itself was organized into it's present state about 6,000 years ago.
For anyone who bought into the propaganda that the earth was created billions of years ago, it is not physically possible. For example when we put a satellite into geosynchronous orbit, we equip those satellites with rockets. Every few months, they have to fire the rockets so the satellite can maintain a stable orbit. The idea that the earth could have maintained a a stable orbit by random chance for billions of years as if it was some sort of perpetual motion machine defies the laws of probability and physics. It becomes even more impossible to believe considering there are 7 or 8 other planets besides the earth and dozens of moons in our own solar system alone each with their own stable orbits.
It cannot happen by blind random chance. It is not possible.

If the Moon and the Sun are only 4,000 miles how do we get solar and lunar eclipses? According to flat earth theory, both the sun and moon rotate around earth at the same height (4,000 miles). Eclipses would be impossible, yet we see them all the time. The moon can not give the light of itself, it has no Luminus properties allowing it to glow. The light we see from the moon is actually from the sun reflecting off of the moon. We also can tell that the moon and the sun aren't in the same orbit when the new moon comes. The New Moon happens when the earth blocks the light from the sun to the moon.
By you teaching the flat earth theory you are taking mankind's knowledge that God has given us concerning all these things.

So far, I have never seen a single modern Christian believe the promise made by the Savior in Mark 16:16-20.
Whoso should believe and be baptized shall be saved, and signs of the Holy Ghost follow them that believe. The Bible records that His disciples, healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out devils, survived getting poisoned, prophesied in tongues.
Now I can almost guarantee that you don't believe in any such things as promised by the Savior. If I am correct in my assumption, then how do you consider yourself a Christian if you don't believe in the Savior's promise?

We are ALL saved from death through the SAME Jesus Christ. There was a falling away after Jesus death, then a restoration later through Joseph Smith through the direction of Jesus Christ and his Apostles. I'm a lot more happy now knowing that my friends and loved ones will not Burn in Hell for all eternity just because they may not have accepted Jesus in this life, there is more after this life and in the Spirit World, there will still be repentance, we will be pre-judged to go to spirit prison or spirit paradise, but there will be a final judgement that will direct us to the mansion God and Jesus have prepared, there is more my Born Again friends! Truly the essence of life is growth and to become and to overcome. It is our weaknesses that keep us from God. A baby just does not pop into being an adult. It takes time and added responsibility on ourselves to reach our potential as children of Heavenly parents. You could not develop faith if you new everything and if you new everything you would be a God you are not a God but nearther is a baby an adult. Life is soooooooo beautiful. He said that the Lord revealed to him that we should quit calling the members of the Lord's church "Mormons," and not call the Lord's church the "Mormon" church any more, inasmuch as we were nicknamed that by enemies of the Church (because we believe in The Book of Mormon) and going along with those who oppose us by letting them rename the Lord's Church obscures and gives a false impression of the true identity of the Church. President Nelson urged us to quit going along with those who oppose us in the language we use to refer to the name of the Church and its members. He urged us to use the correct name of the Church and to refer to us as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And calling our systems of beliefs "Mormonism" is also out of compliance with what he advised us. In this video I lost count of the many times you disregarded that counsel. Having been a product of the public school system myself, I have come to realize about 60% to 90% of everything they teach in school is a lie. The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche stated famously that God is dead and we have killed him.
The whole point of teaching only atheism, macro evolution, eugenics and marxism in schools is to brainwash as many people as possible into rejecting God.
If a belief and knowledge of God is misrepresented as being superstitious, mystical, fantastical and "anti-science" and the people believe just a portion of the lie, then they figure they have succeeded in killing God in the minds of the people. And they have succeeded. Probably more than their wildest imagination. The propaganda of the prophesied strong delusion is so powerful. It has swallowed so many billions of minds.

For example, it takes 12 years for the planet Jupiter to orbit the sun, so one year on Jupiter is 12 years on earth.

If you live forever and you create just one planet around one of those stars, how does that diminish the Godhead who rules the universe? How do they lose their meaning? If anything it adds to their dominion, and yours too.

The lengthy "quotes" from minute 12 to the end are NOT from Mormon scripture, except for the very last quote which mentions Kolob. You said:
" It is NOT Mormon doctrine that the earth was created 6,000 years ago. "
So why do you say such things? The Apostle Orson Pratt is an authority in the Church. He was called by revelation to Joseph Smith to be an authority in the Church.
"We know that it was not six thousand years from the creation to the birth of Christ. How do we know this? God has told us in new revelation that this earth is destined to continue its temporal existence for seven thousand years, and that at the commencement of the seventh thousand, he will cause seven angels to sound their trumpets. In other words, we may call it the Millennium, for the meaning of the world millennium is a thousand years. Six thousand years must pass away from the creation till the time that Jesus comes in the clouds of heaven, and he will not come exactly at the expiration of six thousand years. When the Prophet Joseph asked the Lord what was meant by the sounding of the seven trumpets, he was told, "That as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth; even so in the beginning of the seventh thousand years, will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things and shall redeem all things, except that which he hath not put into his power when he shall have sealed all things unto the end of all things, and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels is the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years; to prepare the way before the time of his coming." This quotation will be found in the Pearl of Great Price"

In the first place, I wrote this piece over twenty years ago. Back then, The church encouraged people to use the word Mormon. A man even purchased the website named mormon dot org for something like a million dollars and then donated it to the Church. The Church then used that name as their official website, even promoting it in their commercials.
In the second place, since I am not a member of the Church, I never got the memo that the Church had again changed their mind on this name.
In the third place, I have received many contentious messages from members angry with me for using that name. Of all the things to get angry about. Of all the evils raging in the world. All of this indignation and cancel culture nonsense from church members over the use of this sacred name seems petty to me. Surprising actually.
In the fourth place. since the very beginning of the Church, members from the presidents and Apostles down to the rank and file members have used the name Mormon to describe themselves. It is in nearly every story. To not use that name, I would have to alter everything, and I am not going to do it. I am honored by that name, and I am not ashamed to take it upon myself. If I am the only person in the world to use it, then I am no less honored. I am privileged, if I could stand in such good company as the Saints who called themselves Mormon.

Kolob is a STAR, not a planet. The title of the video destroys its credibility. "Mormon" is no longer an appropriate moniker for Latter-day Saints! The only purpose of the Kolob text was to demonstrate to Abraham in terms the Egyptians would understand how Jesus is the most intelligent in the hierarchy of intelligences just as Kolob is the brightest in the hierarchy of stars. It's not about astronomy!

How do you know that Kolob is not so much more than a star or a planet? Yes, it governs the order of stars which include this sun and this world. But I do not believe it is merely a planet or a star.
Yes, I got the point loud and clear about all the people who no longer wish to be Mormons. And I agree, they shouldn't have to be Mormons, if they don't want to be. People who are ashamed by the name should never have to use it again.
Since I do a lot of historical readings it is impossible for me to ever disassociate the term with the volumes of books which use the name. But for everyone else who have banished the name from their lives, I totally agree. It is inappropriate to refer to them as Mormons ever again.

@@smallhelmonabigship3524 I perceive your feathers are ruffled. My focus is to help Latter-day Saints improve the quality of their RUclips posts, not to offend.
I am proud to be a Mormon but am trying to use "Latter-day Saint" as President Nelson requested in 2018. (see www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/church-president-latter-day-saints-222522194.html)
As for Kolob, Abraham wrote, "I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God." (Abr 3:2) So, it's a star. But it is indeed more than an ordinary type of star. Because of its massiveness, it must be a black hole. Only a black hole could be the first creation (like Jesus) and still exist today. All fusion stars created at the beginning would have run out of fuel by now. The larger the star, the shorter its life.
A star so large that its gravity governs other stars whose gravity governs other stars is too massive to avoid collapsing into a black hole.
The Kolob metaphor is this, that just as Kolob, "the greatest of all", governs the movement of nearby stars gravitationally, which in turn govern other stars gravitationally, and so on through the entire galaxy, Jehovah governs the entire creation through a hierarchy of influence. (Abr 3:16-19)
Sgr A* (Sgr A star) is the most massive star in the galaxy and lies at the central hub. Michael D. Rhodes, wrote that Kolob, “most likely derives from the common Semitic root *QLB, which has the basic meaning of ‘heart, center, middle.’ In fact, the Arabic form of this word, qalb, is in the Semitic names of several of the brightest stars in the sky including Antares, Regulus, and Canopus”. (Review of Books on the Book of Mormon, p124)
For example, Antares, the star at the heart of the constellation Scorpius, is still known in the Mideast as Kalb al Akrab, meaning “heart of the crab”. (constellation-guide.com/antares, DL 20 Feb 2019) Standardization of Arabic transliteration replaced kalb with qalb for heart (kalb now means dog) but the name of the star has not changed.
In Hebrew, the word for heart is לב, and for in is ב and together (קלב) they translate to English as Calab, meaning in the heart. (translate.google.com, DL 1 Jun 2018) So, Kolob makes a great Semitic name for the galaxy’s heart star.
It's just my opinion, but I recommend you change the title of your video and remake it to explain that Kolob is a metaphor for Jesus at the top of a powerful hierarchy and that the other stars represent all other intelligences that are subject to Him. You might also explain that Abraham chapter 3 is not a lesson in astronomy. Rather, it is what God told Abraham to use in teaching the Egyptians about the Creator. Thus, it reflects some Egyptian beliefs about the cosmos that do not necessarily represent astrophysical reality. And, it wouldn't hurt to show Kolob's and Kokob's linguistical etymologies as per Michael Rhodes' research. I would also cut everything from the video that has nothing to do with Kolob or change the title to reflect the broader scope.
People of all walks of life watch RUclips videos. The videos made by church members should be respectable, credible, on point, top notch, and at least have a title that's not incorrect.

@@suedohnim8019 Some of your information is good. Sounds like you need to do a video on it yourself.
As for myself, I didn't talk about astronomy at all, except to talk about the enormous size of the universe, and reflect on the teachings of Joseph Smith concerning the age of the earth and the stars. Much of what we think we know about astronomy like the big bang theory(creation by blind random chance), black hole theory, etc. are either based on wild unprovable conjecture, or derived from extremely limited knowledge.
The Lord says all knowledge will pass away at His coming, save that knowledge which comes from God. The universe we see is observable. We can see billions of stars, billions of galaxies, and that gives us pause to wonder, and so I talked about it. Most of the opinions and theories of men have limited interest to me. If you don't like my opinions, then I am perfectly okay with people agreeing with me or disagreeing with me. I don't want anybody following me or trusting me. Salvation is an individual work
As for you using the name Mormon, if you don't want to use it, then fine, but don't tell others not to use the name. The leaders of the Church are mortal men, just like the rest of us. And just like the rest of us, they have the free agency given them by god to be wrong and commit sin just like the rest of us. A prophet is not a prophet unless they prophesy in the name of the Lord. For everyone to hang on their ever changing opinions as though they are prophecy and shame anyone else who doesn't agree is actually sinful, and gives credence to the enemies of the church who claim the church is a cult. The ability to prophesy cannot happen unless a man has purged himself of all evil as the book of Mormon says.

"And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also." Genesis 1:16
It says here that during the creation of the earth, God made "TWO" great lights. The Sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night. Then it says God made the stars also. That doesn't necessarily mean that on the fourth day of creation God made the sun and the moon and then as kind of an afterthought, God made the rest of the universe, complete with all of the other other planets, and uncounted trillions of other suns in tens of billions of other galaxies outside of this one. All on the fourth day? Where is the logic in that?

All of the churches who present Mormonism in a very negative light to their followers, almost always refer to Kolob as a planet. So for people who are ignorant of the subject, they are much more likely to come across the rants of the scoffers than anything that casts the subject in a positive light.

Kolob is a star. Not a planet.
    2 And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;
3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest
    Abraham 3:2-3
    Pearl of Great Price
Kolob is the main “governing” star that controls other governing great ones. Controlling time as one of their functions. It is the star that is closest to God throne in heaven. Not a planet and he doesn’t live on it.
I know what and where Kolob is. But the scientific evidence is scattered and fragmented. When the cosmic microwave background radiation of the universe was measured, Kolob showed up. And three teams where assigned to disprove what they found. The first two teams said that the data was correct. That there was a universe in mass black hole in the lower right corner of the image. This unimaginable object would change everything. It would explain the red shift, dark mater, dark energy the accelerating universe and disprove the big bang. The universe would then be eternal. Always renewing itself in endless eternal rounds.
The third team assigned said that it was just a place where our universe bumped into a neighboring one. Yet the data didn't support that interpretation.
When papers where written about this scientific ground shaking object they were discredited. Web pages disappeared, and scientist ostracized. Even the location of Kolob in the image taken by the Planck mission is sometimes covered by a cut and paste image, or even the presenter’s thumb.
The best paper written about this discovery had to go live in the far corners of the web at cosmology dot com. Where it still exists today but with the title The Sky Is Falling: The Universe is Collapsing in a Big Crunch by R. Gabriel Joseph.

Which Bible are you referring to? The Bible that was compiled by the Roman Catholic Church, and for over one thousand years was the only Bible approved for use throughout western Europe. Which is the presently accepted Bible by all western Churches and the only Bible people like you accept today. On the other hand, the Bible of the Armenian Orthodox Church which is even more ancient than the Catholic Church once had the Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs in it. I bet you probably never heard of that book before according to your upbringing. There has also been found fragments of that book among the Dead Sea Scrolls in Israel. The Dead Sea Scrolls predate the Roman Catholic bible by many hundreds of years. The Dead Sea Scrolls also contain the words of Moses that are nowhere to be found in your present Bible.

And what thank they the Jews for the Bible which they receive from them? Yea, what do the Gentiles mean? Do they remember the travails, and the labors, and the pains of the Jews, and their diligence unto me, in bringing forth salvation unto the Gentiles?
5 O ye Gentiles, have ye remembered the Jews, mine ancient covenant people? Nay; but ye have cursed them, and have hated them, and have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will return all these things upon your own heads; for I the Lord have not forgotten my people.
6 Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?
7 Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?
8 Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two enations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also." - Book of Mormon
