My understanding of culture is that it encompasses particular aspects of belief systems, language, norms, mores, socioeconomic status, religious tenents, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, gender, disability limitations, etc. As someone pointed out, culture may change within and amongst groups, individuals, nations, and societies. There is much sociological and anthropolgical data to evidence this assertion. One the issue of homosexuality specifically, this behavior and lifestyle choice (albeit openly or privately) is one that's existed everywhere and within all nations irrespective of predominate sociocultural tenents and religious or political factions. Thus, resulting in minority and oft marginalized groups that were are either tolerated, accepted, or persecuted. The issue here is whether or not LGBTQIA+ identified persons should be allowed to express themselves (openly or privately) without being persecuted and NOT NECESSARILY advance to or advocate for the right to same-sex marriage or adopt. And yes, "buggary laws" are colonial imposed and non-traditional implementations to the Gold Coast what is now Ghana.

I hope that in time Africa can come to ditch colonialist imposed beliefs such as homophobia and accept our people as they are and always have been - there have been LGBTQ+ individuals since the dawn of the time and forever will be, this is not a problem. But for now, Africa needs to focus on bettering theirselves in ways they are lacking such as poverty, famine, drought, extremism, illiteracy etc., Too many problems to deal with before we go ahead and bring up trivial things that members of parliament in Africa SHOULDN’T even be interfering in like somebody’s sexuality/their sexual life. And before anybody says anything, I am African myself 100% and we NEED to focus on more important things like how poor we are, AS A CONTINENT.

What do expect from Ghanaians? Parliament is receiving memoranda for consideration and debate on the issue is ongoing, then the people's representatives will vote on the issue. Or you expect the rights of those who do not want advocacy of LGBTQI to misinform their kids to be sidelined? Sometimes when you keep hearing the wrong thing for a longtime, the wrong thing becomes your reality. There were gays in Ghana who did their business in their rooms with no infringement. The people began demanding this bill when they began advocating and requesting it to be taught in schools. USA and UK only began accepting the LGBTQI community just recently meanwhile their democracy and society has been existing over 400 years. Ghana as a country is less than 70 years with close to about 30 years of democracy. The people are not ready for LGBTQI. If it is forced they will fight it like it is happening now. Why does the West continue to jail person's who engage in polygamy? Is it not a right? Ghana's culture meanwhile accepts polygamy, so is it not double standards. When Ghana is ready, they will accept LGBTQI. It's a matter of time but not now.

It should not be glorified or demonised. The Romans were openly bisexual you did not have debates on the matter you had your boyfriend you had you wife they converted to Roman Catholicism and it became a big deal People felt the need to go on undercover and to satisfy urges and take advantage of the Vunerable. I don’t want to know what my child does with their partner but I want to see grandchildren they should just miraculously appear. Every human being urinates and passes stool it’s a fact of life and I will have a friend they will go to the toilet frequently daily and they will go their whole life without bringing up the topic of what they are dropping in the lavatory and I don’t need to visualise. This big brother invasive mentality is what’s destroying society telling me what I need to think or feel superman now has a boyfriend was that necessary I don’t think so. My next door neighbour is a lesbian my son asked me where was the father he has another single parent family same question I use the same delicacy and tact to answer both questions giving neither one more importance my son now does not care he just accepts it for what it is and none of our business and plays with the children happily respecting the parents and that’s the only thing that’s important.

@@theaggressiveinvestortips5791 this is incredibly disingenuous, given that white fundamentalist Christian groups from America are being welcomed with open arms, consulting on and promoting the anti LGBT agenda. It is also disingenuous given that the entire religion at the root of this anti LGBT rhetoric and anti lgbt law IS colonial. “Unnatural carnal knowledge” comes from an English law. It seems as though you are picking and choosing to suit your personal beliefs.
If Ghana were a just and fair place of LGBT people, they wouldn’t need to seek support internationally. The fact is this - if your life is under literal threat and you cannot seek justice or reprieve within your own system - what choice do you have other than to call on the international community and fellow signatories of international agreements to apply pressure on your government to assert your rights?
I live in Europe and I am black. Again - if somebody in Germany is a victim of racial discrimination, there are mechanisms through which they can seek justice. In Ghana, you cannot go to the police and say “hello, I’ve been raped, petrol has been poured onto me because I am gay and I’ve been burnt. Please can you catch the culprits.” It is not hard to understand and I feel you clearly have some level of intelligence yet show complete cognitive dissonance towards something very simple. I have been racially discriminated against in Europe and I have seen justice when it’s happened. I feel safe. Ghana’s lgbtq are not safe.
The point about polygamy is also mute because nobody is born polygamous? Being lgbt is who you are, it isn’t a cultural decision? Lgbt people aren’t asking to be able to MARRY. They are asking for access to healthcare and to not be abused. Honestly, you may have to come to terms with the fact that you are just an incredibly hateful and evil person if you think that is asking for too much.

This community enter with guise of human rights, requesting that every human being has a right to live the way they seem fit but they are one of the most dangerous anti-human right organisations in the world..When they gain access and legalisation into a system, they impose their ungodly values on people..They spread their insanity through schools and movies to convert the masses into acceptance, to make give heed to seducing spirits.

@@DWThe77Percent I wasn’t disrespectful. I clarified the definition of phobia. But it’s not me you have a problem with, it’s God, because he clearly states these behaviors will prevent someone from everlasting life.
His words, not mine. I hope you find Christ and repent of your sins before it’s too late.
      Mark 10:6
But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
      Romans 1:26-27
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
      Leviticus 18:22
22 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
      Romans 1:32
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
      Romans 1:27
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
      Leviticus 18:22-24
22 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. 23 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion. 24 “ ‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.
      Leviticus 20:13
13 “ ‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
      1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
