Interesting to see how they've added guard rails to the ledge overlooking the cavern open to the sky at the top. I was there in about 1970, on a school biology field work trip. Using that old school next to the slate mine. We discovered the entrance and went in and came out on the ledge inside the big open cavern. We were totally bowled over and went back to get the rest of the kids. There was no guard rail then.
Sound like happy days John, there are remnants of the rail still there . If you watch our videos" cave diving Virgin Welsh slate mine" part one and two, they are done below the water in there . We are particularly proud of those two videos as the effort that goes into producing a good dive video is immense . Happy New Year
These are those and TBH they are much better than the price suggests , underwater I have never had them on full . I use two underwater and 4 above water to get better lighting affects they are 1230 deg and will cover a 14mm wide angle . I have a greenforce one as well that cost a fortune and it has a better colour but rubbish performance . The cheap pones are a bit cold but can be corrected in edit. We have just got some dry cave helmet lamps from Sofirn and they are blooming brilliant . You want the 27 LED ones www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233342058634?hash=item365445408a:g:0KwAAOSwmgRdfftd&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4HsGgIfUNuCWkMBCjjoOpoZEg5jbGQqzrts4FCLmQ%2FkxdNM%2F7l%2FWY7zJQQZsMbuzMLRztUdbjVPLN5wcyPRcerFVDvtUXCTA%2FhsmQ4BGhqI0B%2FJoEB8k0Q38cHsAxjnxyMDWalt1mU7qw5U%2BXSKs%2B50zxGc3DS83QdYKXNW2Df3eqv5cg7T%2FBRMHXBzaBXiPzj1phQSumMfgOcN0fJ3GFPVsyyCLXYFPt3Jj7cgupbF0EPRmbZN9nJNZVGKc1%2Bhgb5X2YA0QkJTD07QtG2%2BH5VD2ORB%2FX2novZALDY2smW7R%7Ctkp%3ABFBMxI3607Zh
Thanks for the advice! I’m going to purchase one of those. I’ve also bought some of the Sofirn head torches and a Sofirn sp36 pro torch, which is a beast! 8000lm claimed output! It’s bloody good for the money! Thanks for the great content you guys post, really enjoy watching the videos.
I use the TG4 and the image stabalisaton setting is pretty crap, the reason I haven't got another is I would have to swap all my underwater housing ect ect for a new camera and they are bloody expensive the 5 and 6 use a different housing although the live composite mode I use for stills in caves ect is amazing
I have though about getting a basic gimbal to help as I dont want to get all new underwater housing ect , plus if a housing leaks its always at the start of a dive and the TG can handle a flood
No Buddy when something is new you are to busy laying safety line to do any video work, however I have some nice underwater footage yet to be edited and put together at Diffwys, we have spent a couple of years lining that out. keep your eyes open for the video or subscribe to the channel.
@@patterdaledivecave3545 was it your first time diving here then? Your dive videos just blow my mind. I spend a lot of time in mines thinking "just think how much is lost to us simply by being below adit" and there you are un-losing it!
@@LostWales-CollCymru Thanks buddy yes first time in there but not the last thats why we didn't put any permanent line in as it is very time consuming and this place is very deep so a different breathing gas will be needed to keep decompression down to something reasonable. Thanks for the thumbs up on our videos I'm just about to start the Diffwys video underwater. One problem as you can imagine is the sheer effort it takes to get kit to these places we have lots of offers to help but nobody ( apart from Sinker and his buddy turn up ) its amazing what shopping trips turn up Ha Ha and you younger generation wont put the effort in , if they cant drive to it they dont bother. We have yet to film Rhiwbach underwater thats a great dive with lots of stuff to see we have spent years getting over 550 mts line in there

@@LostWales-CollCymru I fell coming down the incline at Diffwys this time and broke my Patella , we spent Xmas afternoon in bodelwyddan A+E I had done it 5 days previous but after our last trip in here it swelled up huge !!

Another enjoyable video thanks. This place not only has lots to see, but it looks huge❗️👍🏼
Its huge ynder the water as well, its like the miners have just gone on a break and they will be back any moment 🍔

How much of the cavern is natural?
Michael if you mean in a digging sense the answer would be none if you mean in a mineral sense then all
very fun video. i notice your camera shakes a bit. is that a TG-3, mine seems to do that as well. I think the AW120 does a better job than the TG3
