One of the great things about being a sorcerer and having another sorcerer pawn in your party, is that you can cast the same spell at the same time. If you're casting one of the heavy-hitters, like Maelstrom (The big tornado), your sorcerer pawn can actually join in the casting and you'll both unleash the spell at the same time. It works the other way as well, if you see a pawn casting a spell, start casting the same one and you'll begin the casting process in sync with the pawn. It's very effective at taking out bosses, or some of the tougher enemies in Bitterblack Isle. The party as a whole is more fragile, particularly in close quarters fights, but in some situations it's definitely worth it.
It makes even the most fragile and low level Sorcerer pawns absolutely helpful because they can help negate draw times with normal named spells rather than high ones, making you repeat them one by one like some artillery strikes.
Just started playing this game for the first time in 2020. Fuck, I can’t think of a game that even still does magic anywhere near as cool as this. Playing a Sorc makes you feel like a god. And you earn your stripes starting off with nothing but little fireballs until you start to get XP. Then... well then you just start breaking the game, and it’s glorious.
Baldurs Gate, but it's a cRPG and all. You can do some pretty crazy stuff though like transforming a powerful world eating dragon into a squirrel and then crushing him like the little rodent he is.
I am still pissed about the fact that Skyrim stole the spotlight to this amazing game. Not gonna happen a second time though. Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to rock the world like a sync cast High Maelstrom would.
+Filsoh There's a ton of replayability. On the PS3 I've played through newgame+ about 3 times now. The expansion, Dark Arisen, adds a huge dungeon that can also be played through multiple times. The combat's extremely satisfying, which keeps the game from getting dull. The endgame content unfortunately basically consists of trying to get the best gear, but thankfully it's not easy and can take a while. I end up going back to the game fairly often just because it's fun to play, more than any goal. Swapping classes is a lot of fun as well, and each one has abilites you can unlock called augments which, once unlocked, can be used while playing any of the classes, so it's worth it to go through and at least try all of the classes. The same can be said of your main pawn that you create. The game isn't flawless, but the mechanics and what the game does right far, far outweighs the flaws of the game, IMO.
+Gorreci Couldn't have said better, the game has obvious flaws, but the combat and class variety is absolutely incredible. I'd add that a single playthrough might take you around 20 to 30 hour if you're the type who'd rather just play the game once and be done with it, but I'd argue that the meat of game is to play through it multiple times with different class variations.
That's what I like about it. It's dark fantasy, it's supposed to be dark-ish. The story isn't amazing like some other games, but IMO it's good enough. Everybody likes different things, of course, but there's my opinion.

@@markostamenkovic8350 Mysic knight uses a shield and mace, but their spells are not as amazing. Magic Archer on other hand has very powerful spells and they use a magic bow. You can fix this on pc with a mod that gives the same level up stats to all classes.

Sorcerers are very weak and fragile in close combat, but they do crazy damage. In the game you play as a party, meaning you can have 4 ppl including yourself. So if you are playing a sorcerer you want atleast 1 guy that can tank and take aggro while you destroy the enemies with your long cast time spells. If you have other sorcerers in your party you can also sync your spells with theirs, meaning that if they start casting a spell, you can start casting the same spell and you will both finish at the same time even if you started casting at the end of the spell. This will deal massive damage when you have x2 or x3 times the meteors or tornadoes. If you like solo play, i think the assassin(archer/ninja) is the best class for that since they get massive bonuses to damage while alone. You could still do it with any class but the game would be way harder and annoying. All the classes are fun, and they all have their perks. But you should read up online a bit about them if you want to optimize them since you get different stats by leveling as different classes.

Yeah, I need more than just Levin in Hogwarts Legacy. It’s just wizard splash in Hogwarts compared to wizard boom in Dragon’s Dogma. Other than that, even just ONE of these Grand Spells (Bolide, Maelstrom, Gicel, Fulmination and Seism) in Hogwarts would’ve been a wizard sendoff. But man…strange how nobody displays just how powerful a magician can be except for Japanese developers apparently.
Well, the difference is that a Mage is a healing-magicka class while Sorcerer is the “everyone’s bloody well fucked” if they so much as breathe from a distance. A mage is terrible at even destroying a boss, let alone a city, whereas you pray to god you don’t fight a Sorcerer else they summon a hurricane on your ass and you’ll be sucked in and be done for before you could react.
