I personally prefer heel flap/gusset, but this to me is fast, and a beginner level simple. Plus with this heel it allows for you to easily cater to a prominent heel or high instep.
How much length does this add to the sock? I am trying to calculate when I need to stop my foot length before starting a triple wedge for a high instep
@@ScarlettRoyaletheloommuse I don't understand what you mean. I normally knit Kitchener toe, 75 foot length, then start a short row heel. If I do the heel in this video plus one extra wedge (for a 3 wedge), how many rows should I be doing for the foot length?
@@jessiet2403 I can't say because I don't know the size yarn or gauge of the loom. I always draw a mold of the foot I am working on with my weight on it. Then cut it out. This makes it easier to gauge when to change to the heel. The extra wedge will sit the heel in the middle of the foot. So whatever the measurement is between the middle of the ball of your foot to just before the start of the pad of the heel. Hopefully this will help.
It blows my mind how she just switches hands with her loom hook depending on what direction she goes! The girl is good🙂
Scarlett, thank you so much. Which heel do you prefer and what do you like about this one? Love your videos.

Looks nice. If someone has a large foot like a size 11 shoe, would you recommend doing the 3rd wedge?
if you have a prominent heel or a high instep the 3rd wedge would be beneficial.
I like this heel, but when I do it I don’t wrap, I use the same technique used in Cat Bordhi’s Sweet Tomato Heel, which is written for needles.

I believe if you are doing a triple wedge it would come to the middle of the foot. Just past the heel.

Can this pattern be used as the toe also?
Absolutely
Thank you!
Are there written instructions for this?
Typically in all my videos below in the info box is where all links to written patterns are.
