That is a great song That is the truth you know how they always play songs that are happening right now, That is what is so great about HANSON they don't sing about drugs sex or violence, They sing about the good things in life that matter to us and the world thanks for posting that song u the best,
I remember being pleasantly surprised by the message of this song. I'm glad Hanson doesn't devote a lot of energy to politics, but this tune is just more proof of their wonderful abilities as songwriters.
We're the generation of the silver spoon No one can create but we can still consume Now we're all just suits for the next ballroom We're your quarterly report Secure a guaranteed result Is passion just a last resort? But it don't even matter now 'Cause the time has come Welcome to the world it'll let you down
Ooooh, good point. I thought getting involved sounded right all along, and then I read your comment. Not getting it wrong makes more sense... you take the chance of getting it wrong. Good call!
@molkoshake69 I agree!!! I wanna know why people are saying they are talking about Obama...for one thing, this song was released BEFORE Obama was elected...it was on the 2007 members kit...so you can give that one a rest...so obviously the line about "We'll save decomcracy with war machines" is about BUSH!!! But this song is about what is wrong with society as a whole, democrats, republicans, independents, old, young, rich, poor, it doesn't matter!
Ooo, sorry to bring up and old argument, but are we SURE it's not 'getting it wrong'? Because at about 4:01, Taylor says "Take Our Chances _____ (insert mystery line here", then says, "Get it wrong baby" or something... as if he's repeating what he said before... -ponders-
@fanciedancer13 i agree with u if they played more hanson id b happy. id also b happy if they played michael jackson, david cook, carrie underwood, garth brooks, reba mcentire, toby keith, the beatles, jackson 5/ jacksons, bon jovi, john cena, celine dion, and jesse mccartney all on the same radio station. i think that would b cool b/c i love all those artists.
It's "take our chances getting it wrong" not "getting involved." (Edit: Oh, okay, this was already mentioned). Also: I think it's boardroom, not ballroom, and I believe it's WILL (not we're) your quarterly report secure a guaranteed result. "We're" doesn't make sense.
@@swdshchck But, it's asking a question: Will your quarterly report secure a guaranteed result? I guess it could be a statement: With your quarterly report, secure a guaranteed result. It sounds like "will" to me. ??? :)
@@mythra7174 They don't make it easy for us, that's for sure! Both will and with make sense to me, but "we're" definitely doesn't! I completely agree with you on "getting it wrong" and "boardroom", though. 👍
Lovin' this song. I like how they wrote a political song, but it's not as harsh as, say, Green Day's American Idiot, although I love that song as well. Hanson rocks.
Boardroom would make more sense... Not entirely sure I like the last verse, but I'm not american so what do I know? And does anyone else expect him to go "taaaaaaaaake our chances... falling in love!"?
Please tell me one thing positive that Obama has done for us. I've been asking that since before he was elected. No one could tell me..they could only respond in a zombie slur of 'hope, change' But yet. They couldn't tell me the change he was planning..but they all said to give him time, he was just elected! But..it's been awhile now, right? What has he done..? Cuz maybe I missed it..
1.realy? obma? dont drag that into this! plz! itz just a song...a song with a message yess, but dont take the message in that direction!! 2.hardly even sounds like them in the begining! i can tell itz tays voice after a while but is that him in the very begining?? doesnt sound like him @ all!!!! lol

this totally describes my endeavors as an aspiring teacher. just as much, it describes striving in the industry!
i love this song!
It was on the 3.0 CD...which I think is the one sent out with 2008 renewals. :)
the time is now.. black america, the world needs you
that's what i'm talkin about! awesome.

man they could make things a lot easier for us by keeping it all the same, but then again where's the fun in that lol
thanks for clearing things up!:)
cool song!
i think that it says" take our chances getting it wrong not getting involved", but i could be wrong lol
awesome song though
HANSON FOREVER!
Hanson forever
We're the generation of the silver spoon
No one can create but we can still consume
Now we're all just suits for the next ballroom
We're your quarterly report
Secure a guaranteed result
Is passion just a last resort?
But it don't even matter now
'Cause the time has come
Welcome to the world it'll let you down
Moew-- I agree 100000%. That's the beauty of Hanson
I agree!

definitely 'getting it wrong' it even makes sense with the rest of the lyrics

mythra 717 I always thought it was, "WITH your quarterly report", which I think makes sense, too, but I really don't know for sure.

Wow. I don't think I've ever heard such a political opinion packed song, even from Hanson. I like it.
definitely feeling some dylan influence right about now.
Is this off a members ep?
Shut up Erica Hanson. This is not a public discussion site for (hateful) political debates.
@hnsnrachel What is that video? I didn't picture them as republicans.
it is ballroom...I looked up the lyrics
Lovin' this song. I like how they wrote a political song, but it's not as harsh as, say, Green Day's American Idiot, although I love that song as well.
Hanson rocks.
Ah. Oops, my mistake. Sorry 'bout that, I reread it again.
Boardroom would make more sense...
Not entirely sure I like the last verse, but I'm not american so what do I know?
And does anyone else expect him to go "taaaaaaaaake our chances... falling in love!"?
Is it really Hanson who sing this song? 'Cause the tone of voice seems diferent from all the 3 guys...
priscila329 yes this really. Hanson

@iluvjtt25 Much better than GD, don't need to be rude or harsh to get your point across.
lol - :)

this has squat to do with obama, but feel free to argue about it!
"constitutional republic" doesn't sound good in a song though :)
I wish it was a constitutional republic...Obama wouldn't be president n this world would be a better place to live. =)
teartaye-- At least learn to spell BOREDOM. Sheesh.
