For anyone who doesn't know--assuming you're organized enough to handle it and pay multiple credit cards on time, it's better to have several cards and spread out your charges than to have everything on one card. The more lines of credit you have, the better for your credit score--but again, only if you're paying them off on time. Your credit utilization ratio is a big factor in your credit score, and you want to make sure that your credit card balance is never more than 30% of your credit limit on a card. So if you have a credit card with a $1000 limit, never have a balance of more than $300 on it (and always pay off your balance by the end of the month)!
i know finances are like super personal so if this is totally crossing a line, sry lol, but could you do a video once you've met with your financial advisor about some basic tips for creating a savings account, a retirement account, paying for a car (you post about your porsche sometimes and you say you have no debt so how did you budget and save up to pay that off so quickly?), and other things like that that you've learned from being a ~20 something~? i think it would be really helpful bc I (and i assume most of your audience) has just broken 20 years old and we rlly need to start getting our shit together
Gen Hurtado the best and easiest thing for a young person to do to raise their credit score is to ask a parent or another responsible adult that has a good credit score to add you as an authorized user on one of their credit cards. They don’t have to even give a card to use if they don’t think you’re responsible enough to have it. As long as the person who the card belongs to is using the credit card and making payments on time it will raise your credit. I did this for my bf without even telling him. I added him as an authorized user to my card and just kept using my card like normal and his score went up over 100 points in 6 months.
I second the Financial Diet! they're the ones who got me serious about personal finance and without them, I would never have been able to stick to my savings goals, or even know how much I should save. Can't recommend them enough
If your parents have good credit you can become an authorized user on their account and you automatically get some of their credit history. When I was in college this is how I established my first credit. Also you may want to get a copy of your actual credit report to make sure there’s nothing on there that should be removed. There are forms to send to the credit agencies if you find something that should be removed. You should check your credit report at least once a year for mistakes and also people stealing your credit or identity. One way to improve your credit is also to use your credit card every month but paid off in full. It shows you are borrowing and paying back responsibly and on time. Never ever be late. And it’s wiser to really never have credit card debt. Never buy what you can’t afford to pay for . (This is not financial advice)
I forgot how old you were Lauren, but I was very shocked by your credit score. It might take longer than you think to bring it above 700 (which is what's considered good, 720+ is excellent). I would recommend watching The Financial Diet. They're the ones who got me really serious about personal finance and helping me stick to my savings goals, as well as realizing how much to save. I watch both their youtube channel and visit their site daily. A financial advisor is a good start, but some personal research on your own will also be very helpful. Good luck!
can you pleaseeeeee do a post about every product you have (in terms of vitamins, powders, etc) I need to get my life together but do not know where to start n you are literally perfect in every way.
@laurenelizabeth rather! would you be able to do a wellness (or maybe powders and vitamins) process but for cheaper? I have been wanting to get all the ingredients in your Green Smoothie but i don't even have close to the amount for it all.
oh girl I've been there! I was terrified of credit cards....I'm 30 now and I still only have 2 credit cards. I had no idea what the importance of building credit was and my first credit card I paid off and closed which is the worstttt thing you can do rather than just letting it close naturally due to inactivity. Ugh, took me years to get it together but now I can say I have one credit card I use (and get some Delta miles!) and one that was paid off and is just open until it closes naturally :) Happy to say that now I have a score of 790 woop woop
credit card companies will close your account due to inactivity after a period of time, obviously you would need a zero balance for this but credit companies don't want to keep an inactive card open. You also want to be careful that a card doesn't close if you have another card with a very high balance.
checking your credit score doesn't hurt it, but checking your credit report will. also, when you apply for a credit card the credit company looks at your credit report which can hurt your credit so it's advised not to apply for a card unless you are pretty positive you'll get approved! hope this helps!!
Yeah, I'm not like a genius when it comes to anything finance related but how the fuck does Lauren have a score of 550? I just burst out laughing. How does she even like run around LA with a leased porsche and apartment?! I'm sooo confused. Someone like explain to me!
Omg, checked my score with Credit Karma after watching this!! I SWEAR, you're the only youtuber who has ever convinced me to partake in their sponsored content hahaha -- win for both of us!! We're the same age and my score is at 737 thanks to a $500 limit credit card, student loans, and paying phone bills on time lol - thankyou for this!! Was actually beyond helpful and informative!!!
Oh yes Lauren I’m a junior in college and as soon as I got a job this year I opened a savings and got a college credit card and building towards my future
I love having a credit card! I have a card that earns cash back and points so I get free money for spending money. I go to college far from home so I’m charging expensive things often and I’ve earned so much extra money from it, also if you pay off you statement before the end of the month you’ll never have to pay interest
You’re obviously not going to have a good credit score if you never purchase things on credit?? 550 is probably just her starting point and I’m sure will increase a ton once she starts using a credit card!!
Watch Aja Dang she makes really good videos about her journey towards hitting her financial goals, she started like you just saying in one blog how she has decided to start taking action towards a great financial future.
Applying for those store credit cards to save 10% etc. is also a way to ruin your credit. It can make you look desperate for credit. Listen to Clark Howard, Dave Ramsey especially if you have debt, and someone I really learned a lot from is Suzie Orman. She has some books... one in particular you may like is called young fabulous and broke LOL
I’m shocked by your credit score! I used it have that score a year ago and now mine is up to 740 so it’s fixable! I can give tips if anyone wants them!
literally, I don't get how people from the US don't get hungry after dinner. I'm from Argentina and here we have dinner around 9 or 10pm and usually restaurants open around 8pm. btw i love the vlogs!
What time do you eat your other meals at? Just curious because I eat dinner around 6pm but eat breakfast at 8am. If I ate dinner at 10pm I don't think I would be hungry until like 11am the next day. Very interesting how things are different across cultures!
Jennifer M hahah i have breakfast around 10am on weekends and when in work i have breakfast around 6am (my breakfast its just tea and a couple cookies, so its not really big, we dont eat pancakes or bacon or eggs haha), then lunch around 1pm and I usually have a snack around 5pm and dinner around 9pm. Also most people work until 7pm here 😊 (my mom for example works until 8pm) Don’t you get hungry between dinner and going to sleep?
Roxy Petrova that's interesting about working late! I get home from work at 5pm and am super hungry so I always eat dinner at 6. Sometimes I may need a snack at 8 or so but I go to bed at 11 so there isn't too much time that passes. Sounds like we just switch our snack and dinner times :)
Lauren oh i just said that because thats what i think when i think of american breakfast haha i think in ihop and stuff like that. What do you have for breakfast then?
Jennifer M yeah it seems like we just switched snack time haha i take my college classes at night so i get home around 11pm and have dinner at that time (its late even here haha but i dont have time to have dinner before my classes)
if your a student who wants to get a credit card id really recommend the discover student one, you get cash back for good grades and they approve first time credit users lol
OMG 555!! im shocked!! i thought you were just being dramatic by saying you have bad credit and then you were going to check it and it would be fine. But you got monies so if you just get a credit card and stay on top of it im sure it will go up fast
Ugh yes, after I watched your vagina video I really wanted a week in my life video from you and LOOK, here it is! Wow, also I can't stop giggling at this video you're so adorable!! Love ya LE
That weak 'beep' in the intro is how the week has been going.

jamie marin you should check out the RUclips channel called the financial diet. It’s run by two girls and they have really good advice.

Damn you really snuck that sponsor in there.
ccap3211 don’t tell me 😫 I clicked this video hoping it wasn’t a sponser
Claudia D I think it's safe to assume when Lauren uploads a video, it's sponsored.
DO YOU EXPECT TO GET PAID FOR YOUR JOB???? there is literally nothing wrong with sponsorships. This is her job.
Teresa McComish why are you so triggered? Lol.
can you pleaseeeeee do a post about every product you have (in terms of vitamins, powders, etc) I need to get my life together but do not know where to start n you are literally perfect in every way.

These at home vlogs are my absolute favorites ❤️

Lauren's in a great place you can tell!! 😍😍 Love you so happy for you !!
Yeah, I'm not like a genius when it comes to anything finance related but how the fuck does Lauren have a score of 550? I just burst out laughing. How does she even like run around LA with a leased porsche and apartment?! I'm sooo confused. Someone like explain to me!
Kailey Trippel because she has the cash to spend most likely. She may have shitty credit but she probably has a lot of money in her account.
because she has ca$h money???
Because she doesn’t have a credit card so she hasn’t built her credit up lol
Teresa McComish credit cards aren’t the only thing that build credit, renting an apartment, having a car loan will also build your credit and so on..
i dont think she has shitty credit, she just has no credit!
I love seeing Lauren adulting
Love These authentic videos! Best of you!!
Just graduated uni, but learned more with Lauren
