I’ve watched a ton of Rob’s RUclipss. I like him. I trust him. If his VPN is rough around the edges, costs a bit more, is a bit slower, or denies torrenting I can live with that. His whole thing is about protecting privacy - which is most important to me. I’m willing to support his VPN now, expecting that it will get better... while staying true to his core mission.

@@sexualsmile That's right but did you listen to this review? Tom thought that the style or design (graphics, interface, whatever) was not as professional as he would have liked. He wasn't criticizing the security of the VPN itself. Well, it's not surprising to see that a new product by a small, independent company has a few areas where it can improve. Hell, Microsoft has been releasing buggy products for decades with the expectation that they will need to fix 'em later. And Apple seems to be going that way, too. Further, the Pegasus story has taught us that products with millions or even hundreds of millions of users by major corporations have vulnerabilities. Products that we thought were unassailable. Rob is a privacy and security guy. It's his whole thing. No VPN is perfect. But if any VPN provider is going to do his best to max the privacy and security of his service it's Rob.

I don’t care about UI, streaming, torrenting and other such frivolities. I think trust is the most important aspect of a VPN. I want to escape the monitoring, data collection, censorship, booting off of platforms for topics the “truth arbiters” aka 1984 don’t like and general intimidation by Google, Facebook and other big tech companies obviously working on on behalf of the corrupt US state. As a Swiss citizen I am beyond sick of now international public platforms of discourse and communication being controlled by this corrupt regime self-destructing western society along with itself.

RANT ALERT! So I wish I would have seen this review earlier, I did buy the brax router, I am a non-tech savvy person but wanted to start being more privacy oriented ( which openly shared with them). Watched Robs video about setting up his router wired to another router for speed seems super easy! Well went bought all this stuff, brax router, open, gigabit dongle, gigabit switch, Netgear router, cables yada yada, its been two months of pleading with them to help me set it up. I really didn’t want to be negative but their help documents don’t help a noob at all. They seem very short with questions and seems to be of the opinion that we all have a certain amount of knowledge of networking. I am able to set up networks because THEY guide me through it. Amen, brother. I've always wondered how Rob Braxman Tech had always been treating his clients who support him by not only watching him on RUclips and Odyssee, but just learning as much as anyone can learn. And I'm thinking that in reality, things aren't always what they seem. I had watched Nat Tuck on RUclips, and I'm quite a little shocked that he (Rob) doesn't seem to care much about his customers who want decent customer service. And they're not getting it. Whenever anyone receives a degoogled smartphone from Rob, that's all they literally receive. Just a smartphone. Nothing else. Mailed in some envelope with just a lone smartphone. Not bothered with protective mailing to protect the 'phone inside. Not included, is no written instructions by a computerized spreadsheet. Of many pages. No real support from anyone else other than from Rob. You'd have to do that yourself. On your own. That sucks. I've heard stories like that a few times before. And it's disheartening for me to think that all Rob seems to care about is $$$.

Whatever it is,I certainly hope that I do get to learn how that works. The average American has NO clue what any of that is. That's not something that is taught in public or private high schools. I think it's unfair to compare Rob's vpn with other services, it targets a different audience. His customers are privacy conscious, trying to avoid tracking by big tech. Your reviews are for people who want to torrent or access outzoned channels like netflix or hulu. You're comparing apples to oranges. Rob is targeting a niche market, people who more or less know what they are doing, and don't trust big companies that have shown time after time they don't honor their commitments. I think you could have made the same review without grading, very unfair. By the way I'm not a customer of Rob's.

Braxman is a likeable and well spoken guy and I've watched a couple of his videos, but I don't think he's being totally honest.
He had this video about a new phone that he's launching. I left a question in the comments asking if the phone has opensource drivers -- most phones use proprietary blobs from the manufacturer and since we don't have the code for them, we don't know what they do... so the the answer to this would be good to know.
Someone who honestly cared about privacy might answer 'yes', or perhaps "not yet, but I'm working on it"... Well he never replied because the question never made it past moderation.
Given this attitude toward openness, I think he's doing this for the money and he recognizes that questions such as this will hinder sales.
For the same reason, I wouldn't trust this vpn service.

I found 'support' insulting and down right nasty blaming me for the issues I was raising. I am not entirely sure they were support but they were always on there giving advice, sometimes wrong advice. When I complained they deleted their message which apparently can not be undeleted and read by Rob so next time I will take a screenshot.
I have had problems posting comments on RUclips videos, this might not post, I will be surprised if it does. There have been admitted problems using the UK server and I am in the UK. Rob said in his video to use another server. As he only has one UK one that would mean using another countries. Some UK sites need a UK connection to work but Rob said to complain to the website to allow his VPN. I personally think it has so few users that companies that see it is a VPN block it because they do not lose much traffic from it. I have taken to using the Opera browser and switching on the Opera VPN just to allow me to post on YT then switch it off again. Rob doesn't like Opera because the Chinese bought it, but it is still hosted in Norway under strict GDPR rules.
I asked for a refund in the first few weeks of purchasing it and never got a refund. Because of this I tested it on torrents but not BitTorrent and it worked. He does say in his videos that he does not want it used on Torrents as it will likely get banned.
    Edit :
True to form I got a 'Comment failed to post' error and had to change Brax UK VPN to TOR to post this, none of his VPN servers allow me to post. Well he does diss Google a lot. I still have a few months left until the year runs out but really the amount of problems I have with this that I didn't have with my last VPN I will be looking for a new one.
Do you have any thoughts on a VPN being a honeypot? Rob doesn't like Proton either.

I’m starting to get more suspicious about Rob’s motives. He tends to promote his relatively crappy “Brax” solutions while completely ignoring some of the best options in the market like GrapheneOS. He’s got some affinity for LineageOS but talks about the limitations, while not even mentioning that Graphene solves most of these. He promotes “Snowden” seemingly to increase his legitimacy, but again, doesn’t bother to mention what OS Snowden recommends - Graphene. He’s definitely got something up his butt about Graphene and these days he seems like more of a salesman than an educator. There’s definitely a whole following of people who don’t really know anything but have become paranoid and will do whatever Rob says without actually understanding the nuances of what they are doing or the best options on the market.

Maybe Rob is just not big enough for Snowden to be aware of to recommend?
