wowwowwow. i love how this captures the total... weirdness of parts of utena that dont always make it into other works. like the shadow girls and the uncanniness of the connection to the movie. and the "i try and i try and i try to make you listen to me" line just. anthy is so desperately trying to warn her!
I love RGU’s approach to storytelling so I enjoy trying to capture its specific brand of weirdness, and yeah Anthy is so desperate to make Utena understand but she’s too much of a jock to get it 😔
One, I love how you edited this. Two, one of my favorite things about Utena amv’s is that they almost always introduce me to indie songs I otherwise wouldn’t have come across. I think the (for lack of a better word) obscure songs for such a unique series is just perfect.
I SEE THE VISION AND I LOVE IT......... the cut of the rose blossoming from the movie with the sound of the phone ringing is inspired.... so many great cuts in this absolutely gorgeous
I keep coming back to rewatch this vid every couple of days or so, I have to share how much I absolutely adore it. The simplicity brings me so much nostalgia for the 2000s AMV days. The lack of fancy effects puts the focus on your talent as a storyteller. I think your choice of song and clip use really captured the balance of silliness and genuine emotion in Utena, and I am impressed with how you efficiently covered the entire arc of Utena and Anthy's relationship in under five minutes. The first time I watched this I was so surprised but hyped when it cut to Adolescence halfway through, the transition was executed flawlessly. Like others have commented I really enjoyed your use of the shadow girls as well. This is definitely a new favorite RGU fanvid :)
@@Ib3gforforgiveness looove soft fuzzy man, one of my favourite lemon demon songs! Tho I don’t know what you’re trying to say with this comment? I have an amv with the song if that’s what you mean, lol
I've been putting off watching Utena for a long long time. My experience with it is limited to amvs with songs I like, and I'll take this video as a sign to finally sit down and watch it. This is a beautiful amv, the scenes, the song choice - quite frankly, one of the best I've ever seen (this song has been rotting my brain lately, it's insane - a combination of familiar media and media I want to consume in the future). Can't wait to come here after watching the show and get slapped with context. I wish I could put into words how happy seeing this made me even though I have yet to watch the series. Brilliant work ^^
@@dr7nng oh my god you have no idea how happy this comment made me, I’m really glad this amv gave you the motivation to watch Utena, thank you for commenting seriously this made my day :,0
found this on my reccomended and this is the most creative amv ive seen for this show! what really impacted me was the use of 'ufology, yes its all real' with the dance scene from the movie... really gave me the impression that despite the unreality of the world anthys love for utena was real and genuine. great work!
@@iswearimnotafurry4953 TAKE THIS AS A SIGN TO WATCH IT, it is SO good Before I say anything else I should say look at the content warnings if there’s anything you know you need to watch out for, especially anything related to SA, it never shows anything too explicit and I think the comedy of the series helps it not get too much (imo the comedy is really well placed and just really good, I love the show’s sense of humour) In general the whole thing is allegorical, there's a lot of analysis done on it since most things aren't meant to be taken literally, it’s based on fairytales so it has fairytale logic. I'm someone who doesn't like rewatching shows but Utena gets so much better with each rewatch because you notice a lot of new things Lmao I can go on forever about it, but if you’re someone who already enjoys media analysis you’ll probably enjoy Utena
