    Man I don't know if this is gonna get read or seen, this may not be the best video to post this on, but you've been an immense help to me. You don't waste too much time advertising or anything, you get straight to the point and show great beats and rythm fundamentals for beginners. You've been great. I've been watching all your videos last few days and spending hours trying to practice my bongos. Thank you so much.

      I gotta say I'm the same mate. I'm not a percussionist I'm a writer but his approach is just great. What style do you play?.

    Answering to your questions: Is this comething I could use - yes!; Is too complex - yes; Is this something I won't use - yes xD Not for a while, that's sure. But this video (and the concept) is really great and I hop I'll come back to it when I'm ready to use it. Thank you.

    I'm brand new to hand drums. Just seriously started trying to learn today, though I'm an accomplished musician. I've only just played around before with drums and percussion. I appreciate the fast pace! Some of the videos out there are way to slow and basic for me. I got it all and then tried bouncing back and forth between all the options.

    Haha! Really funny to follow along on this! I know what you mean with the metronome on the 333333-222 part! When I got to the second 2's I started on the 3's again :P

  • @monkeybusiness6417
    @monkeybusiness6417 6 лет назад +1

    that's good, thanks. I didn't know there was a formula. one thing we could add is that you don't have to put the 3s first and all the 2s next. you can go 3 2 2 3 3 3 or 3 3 2 3 2 3 3 2 2 3 3 3 or whatever. that's a good introduction for accent grouping (or whatever it's called in english I don't know, sorry), like 5 3 6 2 or 5 4 3 2 2.

    Good video but will need to watch it a few times. I was thrown off by the "triplets" when you're only playing one sound per triplet, but I think I get it. You're a great teacher - thank you!

    Great work your channel! Just one little comment on that one: you talk about "triplets", but what you play, is "groups of three". That means, you don´t play triplets, but just keep on playing 8th notes (or 16th, depending how you count), in groups of three.

    • @WORLDDRUMCLUB
      @WORLDDRUMCLUB  6 лет назад +1

      Matthias Haffner Agreed. They are not triplets in the formal sense, but groups of three.

    Subdivisions are one of my favorite tools for phrasing and getting the creative juices flowing. I like to use odd numbers to break up the beats such as 5 & 3 subdivision or even 1 & 7. They wrk best as places to set internal (see Bob Moses: Drum Wisdom) resolution beats - so 1 & 7 would have beats one and two as resolution . Or have different resolution beats within the subdivisions such as 2 of 5 & 2 of 3 in a 5/3 subdivision. Or break up in three - 3/2/3. Lots of possibilities of musicality especially when you start adding in 8ths and 16ths to these 8 beat groupings.

    • @GrootsieTheDog
      @GrootsieTheDog 6 лет назад

      You can do this with polys too - 6 over 4 with 2/4 subdivision on the 6 and 1/3 subdiv on the four. What works really great is 3/4 time signature with 9 beats (usually done 3/3/3 subdiv) but try other combos like 3/4/2. In Return of the King LOTR movie, the Orc army drummers play a 5 beat phrase divided into 2/3. Very musical for the scene because the you get an even 2 and triplet feel giving it a marching driving feel but then there's the overall odd 5 giving the listener a sense that something isn't quite right.

    Should you play with your left as the lead hand if you’re a lefty?
    I’ve got my bongos on order however in the meantime, I’ve been messing around on random tabletops and even though I’m ambidextrous, my left as the lead feels more natural.

    3333 22 is this total 16th notes played for one measure against your quarter note click?

  • @EveryDaySlacker
    @EveryDaySlacker 5 лет назад

    333322 is the song from Halloween. I'm watching this in October . I was born in October. Halloween is in October. I just bought a meinl professional bongo cajon set. I'm discovering this due to an increase in bongo stimuli lately. The word stimuli has a letter "I" at the end. The letter "i" is pronounced like the word "eye" the eye is a powerful symbol within the Illuminati. I must deduct that I am the mothman and from Mars.

    Why are those"triplets" when there's only 1 sound per 3? It sounds like 6 eigth notes followed by 3 eigth notes for example?
