Honestly, having Hoffman take the marketing things could be a very good move. Jean Todt always said that keeping the press away from Ross Brawn was his most important job.
Yup! I'd add keeping di Montezemolo and the rest of the Ferrari suits away from the team was the other important part of his job. We've seen what happens when they take a more active involvement in running the Scuderia.
god imagine the potential of 2025 - imagine red bull falls apart internally, audi has a competitive car, mercedes has caught up, and hamilton and leclerc get into a bitter title fight
I am already genuinely scared of Audi in F1 tbh, knowing their long tradition and rich history in motorsport I think they're gonna create a dynasty of their own in F1 as well
Lets not forget, a few years back, Porsche designed, built and dyno ran a f1 V6 hybrid engine..... then shelved it. What conglomerate is porsche part of?
My predictions of Audis performance each season since they start: Season 1: Ok start. Not front running nor too far back. Maybe average of P13-P8 Season 2: Bit more to the front with average positions being P10-P7 Season 3: Average is nearly in points all the time And then FIA comes, ruins everything and Audi is backed up to the back of the grid.
For whatever reason I thought they were planning on buying 100% regardless, just staggered over 3 years (probably wrong about that though). What I’m curious to know is when are they going to be buying the full stake? Don’t they already have 50%?
I overheard Audi will keep the name Audi but it’s actually Porsche who would be working on the engine, if that’s true, I think Porsche will have the better power unit on the grid, hopefully they can use their experience on the aerodynamics which is super important in F1
Gutted by this news. Over the years, Sauber have been bought/renamed numerous times but behind the scenes, they've still maintained part ownership of the team. So unlike other teams that have been bought and then the new owners either cash problems or lack of interest, resulted in uncertain futures. Sauber have just resumed control and carried on, so yes maybe money might have been tight at times but they never seemed like they faced oblivion, unlike other teams. But now Audi has full control, it's like the BMW deal but without that safety net.
Congratulations and well done Audi. I am a great fan of the brand since the birth of the S1 Quattro in 1985. Wishing the Audi F1 Team great success in the years to come.. “Vorsprung durch Technik”
In other words, they got sticker shock at the cost of truly developing their own team and decided to just rebrand an existing team. Happens all the time.
Still waiting to see what happens with Andretti and Cadillac. BTW, did I miss something happening over at Red Bull? How the fuck does a team like that just drop off performance a third of the way through the season? Either they were forced to do something to their cars OR McLaren was given the secret formula for fast upgrades. Something doesn't smell right
Audi: “What have you called yourselves this year?”

lol they are going all in because of the incompetence of the sauber team (as well as sketchy sponsors)
Indeed, I hope they get rid of Stake/Kick as sponsor immediately, surely they don't want to be associated with that.
After Peter Sauber retirement the team name became ridiculous after Alfa Romeo title sponsor.
wdym? that sponsorship deal is giving 50mil+ a year, it's a win
I hope they'll keep the Sauber name, though. Possibly use it as Audi's performance brand (similar to AMG for Mercedes).

It’s a business decision. If you buy up all the brand rights you don’t offer free brand recognition to a former owner.
