The driverless installation is awesome - many thanks to all of the folks who made that happen! (I understand it likely took a good deal of cross-company collaboration, which is never easy, so I definitely appreciate working through that!)
I'm considering a Thunderbay 8 for RAID 5 to store a LOT of video media. I want it attached to a computer that I don't access often. If one of the drives fail and need replaced, will SoftRAID send me an email or notify me in any way?
Nothing shows contempt for your customer base like subscription-based support. Really nice when you double down and charge for the software up front and THEN ADD A SUBSCRIPTION FEE... pathetic.
Thank you for the question! The driverless installation of SoftRAID 7.5 on macOS 13.3 has proprietary components. We are sorry to say we are unable to get into the technical details of how it is accomplished.
Hey Ed, Below we have provided you with step-by-step instructions on how to set up RAIDs using our SoftRAID. softraid.com/docs/softraid-quick-start-guide/creating-a-softraid-volume/creating-a-volume-in-macos/
Yet another company trying to prop up their cash flow by forcing software subscriptions on customers. My OWC hardware raid devices have worked flawlessly for years across machines, no software required on either end and no OS compatibility issues. For years OWC trumpeted hardware raid as being better. It still is as far as I can see. We need reliability above all else from our storage. Fancy features are strictly secondary and largely irrelevant.
The subscription is not for the enclosure itself, but for the software that can be used with the enclosure. The enclosure is fully compatible with Apple RAID and Disk Management.
Stop waving your hands around. It's weird. You've clearly had some halfwitted "media coach" come in for half a day and "teach" you how to be on camera. It's not worked.

We agree! Eliminating all those extra steps has made installing SoftRaid easier than ever!

Did you move the software into the user run space or are there ways to allow kernel based execution without requiring users set all those permissions?

@@poweredbyowc ok- that’s cool!
Would you please supply a basic tutorial on how to set-up a basic raid rig for 7.5? Please advise.

Lmao a subscription for a disk enclosure?
