Good on you both, grand reel. I think I met you both in the petrol station in Ballinspittle a number of years ago, unless you have another son Pat that plays the mandolin and Bouzouki. We met a long time ago in Dunmore East ,glad to see your keeping well. Maybe our paths will cross again some day and we could play a few tunes ,Ruadhri
Good playing to you both, but if you're to play a bouzouki like that you might as well stick to banjo. Its not cut out for melody imo, need to mix in some diads and crosspicking, and try GDAD tuning. she'll come alive boy
Hi my friend.. that's ur opinion didn't u just hear it there.i taught that was beautiful.especially the bousouki..was great.. besides jack just happen to pick up the bousouki as it was just lying there..he usually play banjo..feck that cross picking just play the tune.we don't have to complicate things.we just play the tune yes just the raw tune .but everyone to there own..but thanks for ur comment..
@@patrickpower3137 no its great playing dont get me wrong, talent is hangin off ye's. Its bloody hard to play melody on bouzouki, i'm just saying that with other instruments it often gets overpowered and you cant hear it. Especialy in a session. But playing wee chords in gdad and all that is where you really hear the bouzouki come into its own. If you can do both thats the dream. I cant do either too well! But i think he should try it out as its a really fun thing to learn to do too. Keep the vids coming, enjoying them
Gavin I'm playing Irish music for over 50 year's..I had a bousouki before u ere born.haha.and that's the truth..the bousouki was only lying there as I just moved house..so I brought bousouki in to new place.. jack just happen to pick it up.and those tunes were the result...and I taught it sounded great...I know u would hear them ina session or for busking..bit for these videos as we do.it was ok.and there really difficult to hold..we didn't get lessons as everyone dose these days..we just play the tunes the raw tune well I do..I'm only started playing or learning fiddle at 55 years of age.myself as u probably gathered that yes 55 not 5 like must fiddle playere.anf I'm so so greaful to be able to play the few tunes..I really love it..I mean I really love it..if I want to go down the technical side of it I can't be arsed or competitions.those competitions a load of shit feck that..that's just my opinion.. anyway Gavin no offense taking.. Happy Xmas to ya.
@@patrickpower3137 its a beautiful thing the music, i've been on and off at the fiddle for a few decades myself. Never had a lesson but scratching away and learned to be content that i'll never sound like tommy peoples or kevin burke. I love the sound of the bouzouki too, something i'd love to be able to play. wasn't trying to tell the lad how to play as i dont even know myself lol. I just heard good things about gdad, but thats just me getting excited about it. Happy xmas lads
