Hi I am running MAch 3 and when I try to auto zero the first thing i get is a message to touch the plate to the bit, and when I do it doesn't register. Do you know why this keeps happening?
I know this is a long overdiue reply. If it still isn't working then the first place to look is in Ports and Pins. Make sure you have the correct input pin assigned to thje Probe. It should be either 5, 6, 7, 8 10, or 11and have a green check showing it active. Also be as signed to Port 1 most likely depending on your setup. Also check for 5-24 vdc between the touch plate and ground.
That is possible but if it does then you may be able to revers the wires so that the block is negative and the bit is positive. That would only work if you bit wasn't already grounded though. You could do some probing with a multimeter and find out if there was any ground present at the table. If there is a live ground there then it would probably give a false signal and fail.
This spreadsheet (still available) has been replaced by the Triquetra Tool Box which has everthing the spreadsheet does and more. We are always adding new machines to the list of compatible devices. You can get the Triquetra Tool Box and / or the spreradsheet at www.triquetra-cnc.com. Both Imperial and Metric units are supported..
The Triquetra Tool Box has a feature called fine tuning. I will allow you to make adjustments to correct any discrepancies in the resulting zero location for any of the three axis. If you need help with it just let me know and I will be happy to assist you in getting a accurate and repeatable 3 axis zero. Would this work on a conductive work piece, ie an aluminum block clamped to the table of a mill or would the block complete the probe circuit?

ive had problems with mine sence i broght it the z is all ways showing about 4 to 5 mm high

It's possible. I don't know if there is a difference in Mach3 and Mach 4 scripting. I would think that they should be the same.
