It was October 7th, 2023, and the Il Lombardia was in full effect. On the steep slopes of the Colle Aperto, only a few kilometers from the finish line, hundreds of diehard fans have crowded the road. But all those people with posters and boards didn’t stop there by chance. They’ve all been standing there for hours, and every single one of them has come for the same reason. Not to watch Tadej Pogačar on his way to win the third straight Il Lombardia, but to say farewell to their hero, Thibaut Pinot, about 8 minutes later.

He was cleanest athlete in the peloton is why he was always injured. He pushed beyond the human limit.

The tattoo does not represent his person at all, it is perhaps the symbol of his internal conflict. The gratitude of being loved by his people is overshadowed by his expectation of being what he never managed to become.
