I live in scenic hills and was only 3 years old when this happened, but my mom has told me stories of her being across the street when the tornado hit K-mart. My love goes out to all of those who lost loved ones in this storm and god forbid it ever happens again. I hope you all have recovered well within these 11 years.
1:281:40 these are all my neighbors homes, mine wasn’t shown in this video but I was only 5 years old when this happened, and now here I am watching it and remembering just truly how bad it was, my mind forgot most of the destruction, probably out of trauma, my house still stands and my family was lucky to be alive, I’m so glad I survived that day to keep on living
I live in birmingham and my prayers go out to all the families that lost family and property. I am so bless to be here right now and have power, GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!
0:29 - 0:55 That was my grandparents house. I was underneath the stairs when it happened and heard the wind. My grandad held the door shut so we wouldn't be hurt. The red truck, was parked out front. It slid all the way to the house. My grandads Harley? It was destroyed. My aunt was asleep upstairs and we got her to come down 3 minutes before it happened....
We lived in the apartments behind walmart. Just had our son on Feb 12 2008 he was 5 days old. I was terrified. Me, my in laws and husband and our baby hide in the bathroom when it came close to us then turned to head towards interstate 65. It was one of the scariest moments in our life. But I do believe god blessed each and every one of us that day and every day after.
It's amazing how much damage just the wind can do. I live in Enterprise, so I know how tough the clean up can be!!! I hope y'all have a speedy clean up and your community can pull together like ours did!!! It's strange how it takes something like this to really unite a community.
The first 8 seconds of this video was me and my parents house, or what is left of it that day, on a quiet sunday afternoon and I saw the the tornado before it hit saving me and my parents life.. what a day it was cant imagine it happening again.......
Bless your soul. I hope you are your family have recovered well. As we reflect on these years, and with the bad storm that just hit us a few days ago, I hope that we all recover well and pray that all family member or loved ones move on to a better place. I know it has been 11 years now since the incident, but that is no excuse to not still show remorse towards those of whom were damaged physically and mentally by this storm. God bless America and Prattville.
