VALUE FOR MONEY? Regiojet First Class Budapest to Vienna - or was it business class?

- I enjoy Regiojet, and have used then a few times, but only in second class. This time I found a £10 upgrade into First Class (or was it Business Class?) between Budapest to Prague. Was it value for money?

As a fellow Scot RUclipsr, I love your content. Refreshing, down to earth. I hope your channel takes off like Bald & Bankrupt. Keep up the good work 👏🏻
Scott is way better than that wrongen.
Agreed.
There's something about B&B that I can't put my finger on, but I don't like him, Scott is more down to earth.
I'm also a Scot and I hope your channel blows up too, all the best with it.
A lot of dodgy stuff online about that bald guy.
@@traceys8065I like bald and bankrupt but I know what you mean. He can come across arrogant and dry. But to be honest there are so many terrible RUclipsrs about, it’s refreshing to find Scott’s channel, Bald and bankrupt, Harald Baldr, Simon Wilson and Backpacker Ben. Most of the travel bloggers channels are boring
I didn't realise that I hadn't subscribed.
Fixed, thank you, Scott.
one moment we're watching you in Greece and next Hungary, brilliant videos Scott.
Kelenföld is fantastic for myself, an amazing place to watch freight trains!
Another great Video from a fellow Buddie.
During COVID I had a multi city holiday booked in Budapest, Vienna and Prague. Train for the trips between the cities. All had to be cancelled but I was given a voucher from the value that lasts 10 years.
I just need to find the time from that trip
I really enjoy seeing your travels to different places this trip from
Budapest to Vienna on the train is going to be really great thanks.
☕👋🇬🇧
Kelenföld is an absolute paradise for trainspotters, I don't think there is any station in Europe or even the world that sees that many different operators, private freights, special locomotives, etc.
I can absolutely recommend staying there for a longer period of time! The old station building is now completely obsolete, you can disregard that. There are several underground concourses (connecting to the metro as well) and modern platforms. Also in the vicinity: you can get a bus uphill to one terminal station of the children's railway.
Totally agree about compartments. We travelled from Gdansk to Vienna in the Summer, 11 hours in a compartment. Luckily it was empty after Katowice but it's so awkward compared to standard seating
What a fantastic business class experience 😊
Did the solo seats get fillled? Loved your trip. It was real. Traveling is full of adventures and mysteries, some good some bad. Thanks for sharing the trip with us.
Hi Scott, hopefully you will get the chance to sample the beers in Prague 😂
If you’ve got to be in a compartment then that’s got to be one of the best
That cheesecake looked absolutely tasty ❤
I now live in Poland and have used the train compartments on several occasions and have never had any problems suppose it’s a matter of personal preference 👍
Nice, we had same to Valencia
Used to love those old ÖBB coaches with business first (now used by Regiojet), especially when you'd get one to yourself! Reminds me of happy memories of traveling through Austria.
Good Morning Scott, I enjoyed watching your RUclips video! Thank you for the video, Alister Ian Hoult, Carrying Place, Ontario, Canada.
Thankyou take care
Budapest-Kelenföld is not a dump. The building is a bit unloved but it's mostly an interchange with the bus and metro systems. Regiojet: Low fares, high staff levels, bargain priced catering, what's not to love. I don't understand how they make any money running their trains though.
I think you have this wrong Scott in as much as Kelenföld is a very useful station indeed. It is very well connected by Metro to Central Budapest and if there needs to be engineering work coming out of either Deli or Keleti stations, a train will start at Kelenföld as a result and the Metro transit is a really easy one. Also worth knowing is that a Budapest transport 24 hour pass or 48/72 hour BKK is valid on trains as far s Kelenföld. Guards will only usually check tickets after Kelenföld. Convenient station, well connected by Metro and has a few places to get food and drink.
Deli is a dump😮
Great Video Scott
Regiojet - is that the same Regiojet where you took a coach from London Victoria to Prague :-). Loved the video :-)
Amazing videos really
A great video Scott thank you
I've done the section from Vienna to Budapest Kelenfold and I have to say, the service was awesome and the food/drink prices are incredible! I have no idea how they can sell a slice of cheesecake for 50c - they can't be making profit on that?
Brilliant Scott 👏 I love your vlogs/content. I've been to BUD, your Regio journey looks fab 👏 I must get out more, you give me inspiration 👍 Keep it up 🚉🚊
Lastly, what's your latest book called? & Where can I purchase?
Great ✓
I was in a Regiojet compartment from Breclav to Prague earlier this year. I booked the very last seat in the Regiojet office at the train station five minutes before it arrived in Breclav. It is a miserable experience in the six seat compartments when they're full.
Oh nice!! Welcome to Prague, Scott!! :)
About a month ago I was thinking of going to Budapest from Prague. And on the Czech Railway website, I saw a connection where the first class was cheaper than the second.. go figure
The magazine is "žlutý" which means "yellow".. but I like your pronunciation better :D :D :D
And the train at the end of the video is class 830 or former M 262 from the 1950s. The KŽC company bought it a while ago, restored it and runs it on the Prague Semmering route on the weekends :) the route has some cool views too. I took a ride on it this summer and actually did think "I wonder what Scott would say", at least I was 8 years old again that day.. lol If you do take it some day, you'll want to sit on the right-hand side when going out of the main train station towards Zličín ;) And a regular Prague public transport ticket will be fine on the train as well. Let me know if you'll need a travel buddy 😁
Funny how WC is almost universally used for the loo. It's the same here in Italy. None of the locals would know what it means.
I’m exactly the same - hate compartments, love the view out the back! Great video, looking forward to seeing more of that train at the end!
What's your guess, Steve? It looked a bit retro and special...but why?
Scott, a very boring video and looking at a loo on a train is not going to get you many followers, it's time for some new ideas as your videos have become very repetitive.
Hey Scott!!!!!!!! You've got the title wrong on this!!!!!! Love from Scott.
I am a coffee lover too and I've started using the cruising level as my measurement !
Kelenföld actually isn’t a bad station and streetview doesn’t do the area any justice. Since the last recording the area was redeveloped and there are lot’s of places around to grab a coffee or something to eat.
Anyway, fun video! No video from Budapest coming up?
That lady probably was a fan of your videos, so she didn't need to check your ticket. :D
You need to review that German train with capsule beds.
Advert slogan: "At RegioJet, there is ALWAYS something wanting."
Great video Scott always entertaining and interesting
Attendant: "You're Scott, right?"
Scott: "No, I'm just Scott-ish. Not the whole hog."
For some odd reason, on central European trains economy < first < business, unlike aircraft. So business is actually the top class of service.
How long does it take from finishing a video to put it on to you tube. I’ve often wondered how you do it.
When I did Interrail, compartments were a saving grace...somewhere to sleep overnight...before arriving at a new city in the morning! Deutsche Bahn were the best...the benches folded down to turn the whole compartment into a bed. If anyone tried to come in we just made grunting noises to dissuade them! Bill
Business is above first class on trains, not below it. Regio is Czech; there are probably limitations on what they can sell in Hungary. I'd say Mav Start sell the tickets from the first station instead.
Those kind of Eastern European stations always remind me of the horror movie Hostel. This is better content, places you never usually see. Good job!
Here in Hungary when we see news about Yorkshire and the UK in general we get reminded of post apocalyptic films such as Mad Max 😉
I have news for you neither Budapest or Vienna are considered part of Eastern Europe 🙄. Oh sorry Prague isn't in Eastern Europe either
@@yrath5034 me too and I live here !
@@loredanadincu7930 didn't mean any offence, have a nice day 👍
@@loredanadincu7930 I was thinking Budapest but happy to be corrected, Central Europe it is then
These might have been former ÖBB waggons, weren't they?
You are correct. You can find the same seats on ÖBB Eurocity and Intercity services.
2nd
Good to see a shorter video. Last one way too long so didn’t watch
Not joking I would rather stand than sit in these awkward compartments. Hate them. Fine if you are on your own, if not they are really bloody awkward ambience
For the love of god, drink water!
I'll literally *pay you* to NOT make that *DISGUSTING LIP SMACKING* at the end or start of every sentence.
You can actually do this on here, hes got a monetised channel. Give him a tenner he might cut it out 😂
What a shit life you must have if you feel the need to post comments like this.
Haha😂

Wow she made my husband and I have our own house and car.
She is good! 👌
I travel a lot along this route (I'm based in prague). You found yourself on an older train where 1st class apparently exists but actually doesn't and it's very annoying when the train is full or the weather is hot (this has happened to me a few times). If you choose the route that doesn't go via Vienna and departs from Nyugatti you should have better luck and you should be able to select a single seat that you wanted on the website when doing the reservation.
It's very good value for money and if you get bored just head to the bar and chat to some random people getting drunk (we're mostly friendly ;-). Really enjoy your videos!
Brilliant watch Scott. I love Sunday mornings . Safe travels
Thanks Scott. And never change. Always be a kid at heart!
Wish I had your energy Scott! Always entertaining, can't imagine the work that goes on behind the scenes to produce such quality videos.
That business class coach looks like a refurbished DB loco hauled intercity coach, part compartment seating part open seating. They were very common on DB intercity trains in the early 90’s.
You know Scott, if you play that footage from the tail of the train backwards, it will look like you are driving it
Another half hour video of a boring man sitting in a chair.
it is NOT a busy service. WTF. Can book a ticket just like that. FU giving misinfo.
Best channel on youtube!
Very interesting chap is Scott, thankyou so much great video
Thats the old Kelenfold station you have showed us. no one really using it tbh. Kelenfold is pretty handy to get to with m4 metro or tram. newly built Etele Plaza / shopping centre / is beside it if you want to kill some time. Starbucks is the store on the right upon entering the plaza. Deli used to be nice about 30 yrs. gateway to the southern part of the country hence the name deli./ southern / good luck with your journey.
Great stuff, Scott. If you'd been able to get one of those solo seats in the open-plan section, looks like it would have been the perfect trip!
50 cents for that cheesecake! What a bargain. Nice trip 👍
I admire your efforts getting content and out of bed when most of us are in the land of nod..
Thank you for another awesome video Scott. The view from the rear of the train is always fun, you can see where you've been 🤣🤣🤣
Beats sitting in a shared area with others for hours on end. I am like you... I like my own space. 😉
Scott...those "toilet tours" are potentially lethal.....some day you're gonna go in there with the go pro and find a "big log" like a baby's arm lurking in the bottom of the bowl! 😲😲😲😁😜
I'm sure he'd chop it if that happened - the footage not the log 😂 😂
Great, I recall travelling between Budapest and Vienna about 30 years ago, it was mid winter and show on the ground, the 1st class carriage was baking hot, and a compartment coach too. Don't remember much else except that there were lots of touts at Kaleti station wanting to exchange money. Oh, and queueing in the snow for a taxi! Much prefer trains to using a bus ....
Love your content ❤
Cheers Scot always a good vlog
The advantage of Regiojet definitely is that, despite not having a bistro/restaurant car (they had a few, but had to pull them out of service for structural safety reasons... Not sure what the state is now), they have pretty good at seat catering at damn good prices. I used to eat their sushi all the time.
Love the videos. I think you need more water/hydration though. It will reduce the lip smacking before and after every sentence 😆. Keep up the good work 😎
That's why he gets old ladies staring at him, he's a bit dried up and dessicated! One of their own 😂
I really like scott but the constant lip smacking is unbearable. It's like someone constantly sniffing . Wish he'd take your advice ❤
@@spookyboo22hopefully he takes on board our advice also gets some Earplugs for the noisy hotels !
Barely noticeable
I honestly haven't noticed ?
Another great video Scott. 😊
Great job again. Kudos.
Did this journey to Prague 6 months ago. Very pleasant. Cabin only half full all the way. 60p off brand bottles of Coke.
4:15 Fornetti Majas contains liver paste (also, I like to call Fornetti the Hungarian version of Greggs :D)
Looking forward to your next journey in that classic railcar,
I love old coaches like that, as well..
My wife grew up in Budapest, Kelenfold was a dump of a station 40 years ago and it's lived in that mode permanently, the other thing is that Hungarin Railways are in a state of crisis, falling apart literally. Unfortunately promises of major rejuvination and high speed links with Chinese money and work, have in large been swallowed up by incompetence and corruption, and yes Deli Pajaudvar (southern) ain't much of a station, a bit of an ugly 70's communist era relic, the Nyugati (Western) terminal built by Eiffel and the huge Keletti (Eastern) are the far more classier european hubs.
I am travelling to Paris and will do 7 countries in 8 days. All economy and hostels. And I am a old fart as well 😂🇮🇪 my last trip will be Budapest to Prague
18.30 ticket inspector rocks up...."youre Scott arent you?".........brilliant.
18.30?
@@HSTHoward he’s never went 18 in his life
The car attendant is wonderful 😍
It's an advert mate. Calm down. 🙄
That last railway car looks like a lego job!
@PlanesTrainsEverything Scort, the Fornetti you had may be with liver - májas in Hungarian means livery (loosely translated)
I am really enjoying your videos I could watch them for hrs
So much lip smacking noises. Drink apple juice before shooting
Great video! Just some feedback though
Mind the lip smacking, or cotton mouth effect on your videos. Try and cut that out in post, it be a hard listen sometimes!!
It's his false teeth
For God's sake there is massive modern underground station at Kelenfold! That is the old ticket office. Perhaps if you lived in Budapest you'd know that.
Hey!
Old ladies can be 😎 cool!
Hi Scott, that diesel railcar (made in 1950s I believe) is operating on weekends and it's a regular service to one of the suburbs. And also probably the most beautiful journey in Prague, views are stunning as you ascend. But you will see for yourself 🙂
Taken this train myself from Vienna to Budapest (and got off at Kelenfold as it was nearer to where I was staying in Budapest than the main station). Like Scott, the upgrade was a no-brainer and was pleasantly surprised on how cheap the food was on board.
Good video Scott, great value for money with upgrade. See Mr Marsh mentioned you a couple times in his Flixbus video from London to Aberdeen ( Dundee !)
You don't need to hang about stations for 2 hours. You can have a walk about the streets and give yourself half an hour to familiarise yourself with the station and the platform.
Its good being a Scot 🏴✌️
Thank you for the video. 10 well spent
Why is a train service named after a jet?
This summer I went on a train from Budapest Deli to Zagreb, went horribly wrong with our carriage getting taken off an hour into the 8 hour journey (even though we had seat reservations until Zagreb) leaving us having to sit on the floor for the remainder of the journey
Great video once again Scott.
Your video says Budapest to Vienna but you get of at Prague
Sure beats the Flixbus for comfort. 😅
Thanks for a quite interesting video. On one point I would disagree with you, . As other commentators have pointed out, Kelenfold is not that bad a station. And (more importantly) it is very busy because (as other commentators have also pointed out) it has excellent Metro, tram and bus connections. In particular metro line M4 and the very busy tram route number 1 terminate at Kelenfold.
You must have a massive Imodium budget to cope with not shitting for 20 hours
Do you mean Budapest to Prague in the title? Great video though
