Could someone please explain the form being demonstrated? It is beautiful to watch, but what is being exhibited?

The Koshiki no Kata (as explained in the beginning) stems from kitoryu, which Kano Jigoro shihan (the founder of judo) was a master of. This kata aims to preserve the origins of judo. Look up some kitoryu, and you will see the striking similarities.

@@Paul-it6il Replacing? I think Judo is still much more popular than BJJ. Also BJJ is mainly Judo Ne-Waza. They Gracies did learn Judo but relable it BJJ.

@@Paul-it6il I understand that. The problem here is that people who want Judo rather for self defense, they go for JuJutsu/JuJitsu/JiuJitsu. BJJ also has its downsides beeing focused on Ne Waza only and for competion not dirty street fighting.

@@Paul-it6il Yes at least for street fights. Its good to know how to fight on the ground but this to avoid the best you can in a street fight.

This kata is based of kito ryu, this style was made to fight in armour which would make you weigh upto 25 kg more
