That bit with the eyebrows at the end made my day. Simon would make a great supervillian: get the Bond people on the phone for the next movie.
They already have, Johnny English! (Rowan Atkinson).
It is interesting to see the potential for old electronics to becoming a real problem as time passes and spare parts get difficult. Your key man looks like he will be busy for years to come! 😬😃😃😃Richard.
Another great video and very timely, as I need to sort out the keys for my P38 and probably change the ignition barrel as it sometimes jams.
My advice would be do this sooner rather than later - we left ours till it would not work anymore - then we had to change the whole steering rack !!
I definitely need to get that done, thank you!
Worked first time, I’m never that lucky 😀
I was apprehensive ! but other than the pain of paying out money it was a painless exercise ! So much better having a key that works !
Hi Simon. Where did you publish the instructions? Cheers
I don't believe P38 keys have a transponder, at least not like you find in newer cars that have keyless entry. If there was a transponder you wouldn't have press the lock and unlock buttons to transmit a signal to the car. Bit of a pain having one key for the ignition and one for the driver's door. If you ever need to enter the EKA you will need that door key.
I sold a P38 to a fellow without a working fob. Even before he picked up the car he asked me to send him the VIN and two close up photos of the key blade. He emailed these to Les Edwards at Classic Rides and two weeks later had a working fob delivered to British Columbia.
I did some reading on this last night and apparently post 1998 cars did have some sort of transponder....
There is talk of some ability to charge the coin cell battery while the key is in the ignition however I bet the car would start if only the key was used without the fob section. I should have tried that when I had my fob apart.
Good evening simon 💥👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Evening jimmy !
Howdy from Arizona USA
Morning - where is the new ranch ? still in Az ?
@@L663 Tennessee hopefully! 1st place we ended up losing sadly! Have a plan B much smaller acreage but building's etc need zero work. Plus a potential income xtra 2 bed house.
@@ecossearthur Hope it all works out in the end.... it normally does ! Whats the market like in the US - its pretty slow in the UK now with the interest rates etc... its not in a massive dip with prices falling - just slow !
@@L663 Market has also slowed up a tad with some small market price adjustments
It's better than paying JLR for a new P38 key, it cost me about £430 back in 2022!
I was completely without a working key so I couldn't send one off to the p38 key copy guys unfortunately!
I am not even sure if you can get them anymore !
@@L663 I just have got in just in time then! I had to wait about a month for them to get it in stock and sync it to the car... I was putting the EKA code into the door every day while I waited!
I'll get a second key made at some point
👌👌🚗❤️❤️🙏🙏
Evening Mr Virdi🥇
