I like how you created a "citadel" around your vaults, trading posts, and a couple storehouses. I used a similar layout from the getgo, starting with stake walls, etc. Your overall layout looks terrific! Frame rate looks pretty good too, despite the huge number of buildings, occupants, and raiders. I'm down to 20fps or so with a population around 550.
Your city on a huge flat area is far more compact than my sprawling collection of linked villages on a lowland lakes map with precious little wide space. Impressive strategy to build redoubts with multi layer walls and surround a Fort with towers. I have created similar, but they are more spread out, as raiders tend to attack from 4-5 different routes... It was a good tactical decision to deploy troops out of immediate view of the invaders and only to engage after contact with the enemy (you) had already sapped their forces. I've seen that arrows normally have limited effect on Invaders (not ordinary raiders) so have again built up 5 forts. I counted 5 flags so was that five forts complement of troops for 239 raiders? They retreated rather quickly when they encountered such fierce opposition. Nice job. Do you really only run 45 farmers for 1000pop? I have to have well over 100+.. or are you rotating between farmers and troops when raiders are due? ( I see you already answered that in the thread below, thanks)
Iv got there 7 forts...6 around and one in middle of town...Yes...only 45 farmers and its enough...but i also have fields fertility 95-100% and lot of glass for preserves...you dont need to produce so much...u need to make it last longer...so storages with barrels...lot of smokehouses...chese...i thing my production can feed much more than 1000
Lmao trust me start over unless you are willing to shut down services and goods and leave food and manufacturing on whilst having hundreds of laborers and builders so you're able to move everything around quickly. Trust me people will die but in a few game years you'll be producing more efficiently and people will start coming in by droves
What are your PC specs? I am asking because the frame rate is awful and I fear it will be the same on my machine I think you can cheese AI even more by building a winding road to the city and placing towers along it
I think if you leave your soldiers inside the barracks they also shoot arrows. You should try leaving them in the next time! I don't think the raiders would get past
Since when do raiders actually aim through the place you have massively defended? They always just go to where I haven't built any protection yet or have the weakest link. Or from 3 sides at once. Kudos on that 1k town though!!
how are you holding up an economy with that amount of military?? those must be like 300 / 600 available workers on the military I guess you do as I do and remove all military from their positions, but how do you predict incoming raids, how many months in advance to send the troops to get their weapons? also pretty village.. but: statues, parks, theaters, they do not overlap, so it looks pretty but inneficient.. you are top happyness so it works eitherway. you have zero workcamps, and very dense "forests". you planting every tree all the time? didnt see any to be planted finally, with so much to repair every year, how do you have so much stone free after building all that? I depend on traders that sometimes dont bring any stone, sometimes bring like 70..
I am useing soldiers only in raid yeras...in my game is raid always every 4th year...so early spring i set all soldiers back...raid is mostly early summer...im +800 gold without soldiers so i have a lot of gold. work camps are usless...without soldiers i have around 200 labourers and 50 workers...so i set to cut every tree and mine every stone around my town till the edge of map...trees around town are planted as decoration
They usually spawn in 2-3 direction, create dirt road and stretch out in the spawn direction and they will use the road due to their ai pathing so you can build funnel point like the video shown. Normal raider is abit more spread out but you will know which direction they come from after a few raid so just create a funnel point/choke point with gates as raider ai will choose to attack gate over wall. Army is way easier as they spawn and camp for a year before attacking. just create a road for them and lead them to your watch tower party
they spawn random on map...thats why i have roads far from city and all around with 6 entrences and 6 forts around...so raiders always crash on my defence

Unlike all the people who build the great wall of China around their entire friggin city to accomplish the same thing and takes way more money, time, stone, manpower, everything. Sure, the side towers seemed to do nothing so that was odd, but overall it was success.

The game is in need of LOTS of optimization. As it is now it just clings to one of the cores of the CPU and that limits performance immensely.
I just bought a 4100 setup so I'm eager to see if this is going to be a problem for me

Raiders use fastest way...so if u have build roads far from city...and they spawn close...they will use them
