Thank you for the video - very difficult conditions, I had a wee chuckle seeing you fighting with the survival shelter. Regardless of the weather, all of us who are Born Again and saved come under the shelter of His wings - we will rest and not be afraid
Yes indeed and the hill adds another 20 mph of wind speed due to the very steep climb NW for the wind and of course a nice bit of compression to get it over the hill
yes totally true 100% agree and I would never put the shelter up in direct wind line normally. The idea of the video was to see how it fared with such conditions which in most cases would never happen.
Thanks for sharing. These extreme weather events will become more and more frequent. To save ourselves from the catastrophes that will come, it is necessary to eliminate our psychological defects. Indeed - if we have issues (which we all do have to varying degrees) - we should go back to our Maker for Healing, the same way if your PC was broken you would take it back to the manufacturer for repair, we need to go back to the One who made us. Please don't let this put you off carrying a survival shelter. In 99.99% of conditions, it's far superior to to the crawl-in bivy style, and far far superior to a survival blanket. On a cold and windy day, the increase in temperature as soon as you get under the shelter is quite startling. The problem with the bivy style is that they would be almost impossible to use with a broken ankle or leg, which is the most likely reason you'd be immobilised in the first place. Plus the survival shelter bag is easy to deploy for a quick break from the weather if you want to eat or rest. Finally, larger group shelters are better for morale with a larger party rather then everyone being isolated in an individual bag.
Hi thank you for the good advise and tips. I agree with you about the benefits of the bivvi set up. I use the bag type shelter only because my adventures on Dartmoor and no more than a 3-4 hours on a Saturday morning. I have considered Bivv's but its more weight i think and also I like to sit upright and eat my food etc . I tend to use the shelter as a pit stop for food and shelter from cold winter winds and rain. Take care John
Its not that bad, I have used it for 4 years now and really helped me in those very wet or very ice cold and snow times on Dartmoor. Maybe no good for mountains but okay for this environment.

Anything is better than nothing and can help survival. Be prepared.
Yes I totally agree and indeed even a few large bin bags could be a game changer in a dangerous situation
Having calibrated my anemometer I would say the gusts were more 70-80 mph and not 90 mph as originally stated
Common sense would say deploy the survival shelter on the other side of the hill.

It's...a bag...
Yep it is indeed a glorified bag

We are all messed up in body mind etc that's why many millions around the word found that Jesus Christ set them free from those defects.
