The thing is, if you guys hate Shein, you gotta keep that same energy for H&M, Forever21, Zara, Urban Outfitters, Mango, Uniqlo, etc.
Shein is way more shady than any of those companies. Shein is very, very secretive about their business

She Never talked about any brand like this and LOVED every single product and have nothing to say about it, that’s kind a weird! I really trusted her opinion on makeup but now I wander if she was honest !

Dude every company can only care to an extent. Its life it sucks. Everyone wants to sell their product and gain more profit. Just like the phone you're using and Nike, phones, etc. Everything says made in China, Taiwan etc. They have cheap labor and America likes to make big profit. But America also has low minimum wage so normal ppl have to buy cheap

I literally only wear elf and get compliments all the time. That's just more proof that you don't need expensive products. Elf is amazing anyway especially their foundation.

OMG side note: NARS has a primer that is spf 50 and WOW it makes your makeup last and look flawless, its sold out rn but if you can afford it and get a chance to grab it you should!!!

You realize she used the powder after she came back and powder can lighten the color. It can be seen in almost every translucent powder from every brand. Seems like you just wanna look for something to hate on.

I think it isn’t “oh we can’t support affordable makeup” and more “oh Shien is a fast fashion brand that’s why it’s so affordable” and giving them money supports the child labor, the air pollution etc that people have a issue with

I agree but we have to understand that some people cant afford other choices. Also if you buy makeup you 95% support child labor because most brands use mica (which is collected by children sadly). But lol the part she said that "they dont want to buy it because its affordable" I was like🤨

I agree with people in comments that Nikkie seemed overly hyped and didn't have any criticism about the brand. There is only one reason why brands like these can have cheap products and I will never support such ethics. :(

There are a ton of other brands out there for people on a budget. It's not about affordability, it's about cheap labor and terrible working conditions.

I agree, it's about having the bare minimum of moral values and understanding that there are affordable brands that don't damage the environment and abuse children in need.
@@cookies5094 agreed. And let's be real: this is makeup and fashion stuff, it's not a primary need product like medicine or food no one can live without. Makeup we can do without or buy other equally cheap options that are not exploiting people.

@@austinmckeen9910 Hi! Mi personal favorites are Nyx and Colourpop! But E.l.f, Milani, BH cosmetics, L.A. girl, Physicians Formula or ecotools are great options too. Covergirl also went CF some time ago. There's a lot of info out there so with some research and trial you may find products you like! Hope it helps (:

It being so cheap is an issue in itself. Guaranteed they’re not paying their employees properly.
Catrice, ASTRA, Colour pop, WeMakeUp, Essence...there are so many "cheap" brands that are better than Shein make up brand.
Kylie’s brand is literally Colour Pop. Also the chemicals in those brands you listed has a lot of toxic chemicals in them. Honestly, European / Japanese makeup brands are the best to go.

Did not expect a high influencer to be promoting a brand that is very fast fashion and unethical.
I’ve done some research and I really believe they just have a lot of money to give influencers. People like Doja Cat, Katy Perry, Lil Nas X even participated to their so called "charity event" that probably doesn’t even contribute to any positive actions for the planet… But I have to agree, I am a bit disappointed too

I came to the comments curious and am so happy to see people not supporting this. Make up on a budget, yes. But brands like this don't make these products for people who can't afford makeup, they make products so the middle class can buy massive amounts of makeup they don't really need.

I don't understand how people don't realize that if it comes from china then it was produced in a sweat shop. That goes for everything from shein, amazon, nike, charlotte russe, A&E, walmart. At least shein isn't massively overcharging for their products

This video made me kinda sad. SHEIN is the leader in fast fashion, an industry that contributes to 20% of global pollution. Fast fashion and particularly the high turnover rate of SHEIN is based on exploration of resources, labor, and IP. But what’s really sad is the idea that they are helping animals. They are a super producer of microplastics and any “donation” they make on the consumer’s behalf, is a tax-write off for the company. There are other ways of getting new makeup for cheap that just need a bit of research. No company is without fault, but we need to start somewhere. A place where we can start is that makeup should be priced by its resource and labor consumption, not by brand.

I know a lot of people are saying she wasn't being honest and all that. But what stuck out to me the most was that she didn't even include if it was "payed by herself", "promoted" or "PR" etc, which she normally does? (Unless I missed that part)
It's also weird she only said about ONE thing (I think) that it "didn't have a smell". I just KNOW that gloss she used has a mega smell of paint... and probably more smell really weird

Literally, e.l.f. is my personal favorite bc they’re not a fast fashion brand like Colourpop and their shipping boxes are recyclable and they’re cutting a lot of their plastic use

@@maggie742 Contour and Bronzer are different. I can tell you for a fact that pale skin, like mine, the natural shadows on our skin is GREY and if you throw on only this Warm Bronzer, it looks extremely wacky and wrong. This is why you use Contour AND Bronzer, to balance the Natural Grey with some Warmth.
Knowing there's actual Contour with the same grey color my skin has for shadows is REALLY Nice, because that means i can be less awkwardly colored.
I think the "problem" is that she was a bit heavy handed with how much Contour she used, that's all, but, with everything together, it looks natural, but a bit dramatic. So.
i was confused why nikkie kept saying have an open mind until i got to the very end of the video when i realized this is SHEIN’s makeup brand. i’m not having an open mind about a company that makes billions of dollars a year by actively destroying the environment

@@Daniela-ee7ib i think it’s just that they’re destroying the environment *more* than other companies - others are terrible for the environment, but the rate at which shein designs/produces/ships clothes (like 1000 are added per day or something insane) so they have the biggest environmental impact.
i’m not saying nobody should support them - tbh i have a lot of shein products because i’m broke - but i think this is why shein causes more outrage than like h&m for example

I think everything everyone does on a daily basis is always inherently problematic. Idk about SHEIN because I don’t shop there. I don’t think there’s anything wrong shopping their makeup if you’re going to use it for a long time, longer than their clothes I assume.
I wish she didn't do this video. Love her but with Shein's ethical and environmental issues with Fast Fashion I'm quite disappointed.

This is dissapointing. Shein is not just catastrophic for the environment but also has horrifically unethical working conditions. Their products are only cheap because the purchaser isn't the one paying the price for it.

@@ah5557 True sadly. Unfortunately current society is focused around consumerism, and almost all large scale businesses are damaging to people and the environment. Sadly unless the businesses have an financial incentive to burn themselves to the ground little will change.

Shein is VERY sketchy for their makeup companies, but it is somehow proven safe for the skin. And it’s actually very beautiful on the skin! My friend got acne from it, but I find it hard to believe because a lot of people didn’t get any acne or irritation on RUclips/TikTok. And it’s amazing because it’s affordable!

I would say believe your friend, even the safest products could cause people with sensitive skin to break out, doesn’t mean sheglam makeup is unsafe, it’s just some people’s skin is more sensitive than others, it’s very normal
so nobody's gonna talk about how her base changed when she went and did the other eye? like she could've at least mentioned it.
Nikki, I know Sheglam is promoting a charitable cause here, but supporting a brand that's on Shein isn't helping - the cheapest of fast fashion helps no one, poor quality clothes that aren't designed to last beyond 5 wears; made most likely with exploited or slave labour... I would love to see you take on more considered sponsorships that guide your younger audience, rather than just riding the wave they create. Love the final look, it's amazing what you can do. True artiste.

I bought a beautiful purple blush from target for 8 dollars and a color our pop eyeshadow palette at ulta for around 10. I am unemployed currently and it would’ve been much easier to buy from shein but I don’t want to support slave labor if I don’t have to. Plus idek know what’s in their products and I have VERY sensitive skin

Majority of the stuff you use on a daily basis does that from toothpaste to make up

Girl! I just got my liquid makeup order and immediately ordered more, seriously cannot tell you how goreous I felt using that bronzer, I’m same as you so pale I’m green so bronzer has always been a fail for me, not this time!! And I used it for lids too and it was beautiful

My skin is super sensitive and acne prone so, unfortunately I can never use affordable product as these products ingredients and quality will surely worsen my skin. That’s why I only use Mineral based Bb cream from Saint Mineral which is definitely not affordable but super breathable and light to sensitive skin like mine. And the other product that I go for is eyebrow and lipstick. Eyeshadow and eyeliner are optional but used only if I don’t have my eyelash extension. Hence, I am not a person to apply tons of layers on my skin. I rather go for yes expensive with quality but minimal rather than using everything on my face. Otherwise, My skin will just hate me 🥲.

What works for one person may not work for another. That's normal. Nikki has done tutorials for high-end makeup to drug store products, and I appreciate her HONEST opinions.
