I don't know about other countries, but here in Brazil this is prohibited. Animal exploitation in circus were banned many years ago. Hopefully this will be applied for all other countries as well. UPDATE: This video was recorded years ago in Thailand, where it's also prohibited by now.

Zoos are one of the most ethical places that exist! They are part of the reason half these animals haven't been poached into extinction in their native lands. The poachers who kill animals wholesale with zero regard for their survival are the unethical ones. For anybody interested, there is an older woman here on RUclips called Aya Katz who has grooming sessions with a chimpanzee. Meaning, she sits there with strong trust in the monkey and let’s him check her eyelashes for lice, checks her nostrils for worms, checks fingernails for fungi-infection etc. Very similar to a doctors check-up, they are clearly extremely intelligent. Strong enough to rip her to shreds in an instant, but gentle enough to safely use his fingers in her eyes without issue.

Actually humans use their homes for their own gains in modern day society. I was scaffolding at blackpool zoo and i asked why they spray the enclosures with this material and the answer shocked me .. he said the orangutans watch how everything is done and when they come to the bolts holding everything together they unscrew them with their fingers to get out. Amazing they are so intelligent

Zoos are one of the most ethical places that exist! They are part of the reason half these animals haven't been poached into extinction in their native lands. The poachers who kill animals wholesale with zero regard for their survival are the unethical ones. Besides many animals thrive in captivity and live long healthy lives while dying very young from disease, predation and poachers..so there is that.
I question anyone who gets up in arms about animals but is silent on the subjects of human trafficking and the genital mutilation of children and starving people in other countries. I get animals matter, don't put hem above people though.

This is just depressing. These orangutans deserve to live in the wild. And if thats not a possibility, they deserve a loving home with passionate experts on the species, and not to be used as circus animals for entertainment. For anybody interested, there is an older woman here on RUclips called Aya Katz who has grooming sessions with a chimpanzee. Meaning, she sits there with strong trust in the monkey and let’s him check her eyelashes for lice, checks her nostrils for worms, checks fingernails for fungi-infection etc. Very similar to a doctors check-up, they are clearly extremely intelligent. Strong enough to rip her to shreds in an instant, but gentle enough to safely use his fingers in her eyes without issue.
