This is literally only 10 episodes of Sonic Mania the Grumps played. I don't know why they can just goooooo back to this.

The thing that sucks though, is so that arin can keep his character of hating sonic games while on the show, they cut the game off.

The problem is you took Arin semi-seriously
Arin’s argument is that Sonic is a character who is supposed to be fast. And he is CANNONICALLY the type of personality that “doesn’t need to slow down”
Why should Sonic slow down, just for video games then?
He states that he does like the Sonic Racing games, where you don’t need to stop.
*To be honest, he’d probably really enjoy the Sonic Mobile games that are endless runners or something for this reason*

That's another thing I don't get: He bases his whole persona off of "I hate everything", but then he's so afraid of the backlash that he pretends that he likes this game and that hating Majora's Mask was a joke before admitting that he actually does hate them.

I know why Arin finished Forces, but not this: it's not because he couldn't be "Grump" or because he actually likes the game, or because viewership declined, it's because Forces was mostly his ideal Sonic game: mindlessly going fast, never slowing down or having any challenge. This is evident by the videos made where you can beat stages with one hand, his whining in Sonic 1 about Labyrinth and Scrap Brain Zone and the fact that he dislikes ALL Sonic games.
He most likely rage-quit at Flying Battery Zone because that was the first real challenge he faced in the game.
You know who else had trouble at that Zone? Darksydephil. The only difference is that DSP, actually wanted to finish the game, but him and Modern Arin are so similar these days, which is sad.

Pretty sure they base it off views. Once a particular playthrough starts waning in views, they switch to a new game. It just so happens that more people enjoy it when the grumps play bad games.

Mr Go fast man the human hedgehog because seriousness with a character like Mario doesn’t go as well as a cartoony aproach, that’s why odyssey was so beloved, and put with the big boy Mario games.
If sonic was more alive and cartoony, with way more emotion it might still have a chance.
Imagine an edgy Mario in a realistic style with bad gameplay, it’s an easy shit game.

The original sonic was what I described above, after they left his original style for some reason, and that’s when sega failed in general.
The opening for Unleashed was generic and so edgy it became silly. The opening for Mania is cartoony, fun, relaxed. It seems more aware of what it is. It's also more colorful, and that alone can make something more visually stimulating. That's just my opinion, though. I imagine the Grumps were thinking something similar.

Green hill zone has one of the most catchy and awesome songs of all time. Right up there with all of the music in Super Mario Land.
I hate how they talk about Sonic Unleashed as if it wasn't made with pure love of the series, being created with such sheer effort that it saved the series.
To be fair they played the dimps wii version, which while not bad at all wasn't as good as the 360 and ps3 versions. Also they know nothing about the lore of the sonic franchise and suck at video games, so idk

You should never feel bad for liking anything. When discussing it with someone, respect their opinion and don't let your opinion be overruled.
For example:
I like "The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword" which is constantly ripped apart by Arin. It sure has a lot of flaws, but I don't care because I like it as a whole.
Also, at the time I didn't notice the flaws and it has emotional value.
It is and will always be one of my favourite Zeldas.
