Tom and Mark are critically underrated musicians. The chords are actually very well put together in this song not to mention that even if some of their basslines/riffs are simple, it matches the song. Not every bassist has to be Les Claypool and not every guitarist has to be Eric Clapton.
I agree, but you need to keep in mind Jerry Finn really helped them figure out their sound and kept them focused. Without him, I don't think Blink would have reached the heights they did.
I actually tend to prefer simple, harmonically balanced bass and guitar. It doesn’t need to be fancy, it just needs to sound good and contribute to the song.
I love instrumental versions of my favorite songs. It really makes you appreciate the full makeup and structure of the song and the instruments used in it. That keyboard buried in the background is nearly unnoticeable in the version of the with with lyrics, and even in this instrumental version it’s hard to hear. But it’s there, and once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. That is why I love official instrumental versions of my favorite songs so much.
No matter how much I get into guitar and music, I will always (ha) love the simplicity of Blink's music.. An underrated aspect of writing is that sometimes, the simpler, the better. It's all about conveying a feeling. And these guys did it through a few chords and simple guitar riffs.
Never paid attention to how much the synths played a role in this. The more I look back at this album, the more I see how much The Cure and Robert Smith was considered when writing it aside from just 1 song.
I've been here before a few times And I'm quite aware we're dying And your hands they shake with goodbyes And I'll take you back if you'd have me So here I am I'm trying So here I am are you ready Come on let me hold you, touch you, feel you Always Kiss you, taste you all night Always And I'll miss your laugh your smile I'll admit I'm wrong if you'd tell me I'm so sick of fights, I hate them Lets start this again for real So here I am I'm trying So here I am are you ready So here I am I'm trying So here I am are you ready Come on let me hold you, touch you, feel you Always Kiss you taste you all night Always (Come on let me hold you) Touch you, feel you Always Kiss you, taste you all night Always I've been here before a few times And I'm quite aware we're dying Come on let me hold you, touch you, feel you Always Kiss you, taste you all night Always (Come on let me hold you) Touch you, feel you Always Kiss you, taste you all night Always Always.. Yep. That's where you realize that Jerry Fin knew how to work an album tone. The bass & guitar tones here are just flawless. Of course Blink albums will never sound as good as they sounded back then, but still, I feel Mark Hoppus bass tone only got worse and worse since the first reunion.
The chorus of “Feeling This” mashes up nicely with the pre-chorus and chorus chords of this song. Such is the chord choices and pattern of blink in their song construction.
I have the instrumental for Violence handy. And ummm... I have some other un-released Blink instrumentals, i'll have to look around for. I know I have the multi-tracks for Stockholm Syndrome. And Feelin' This, but if I recall, those are public. The version I have has better separation though.
ddrumdude Exactly! My credit isn't at /all/ needed. But seeing as it's an official artist's work, you might want to mention that it IS in fact copyrighted, and belongs to Blink 182 and their publishers.
That ascending synth sound during the chorus gives me chills and hope!

They are great, but this is the standard pop punk chord progression. Basically the entirety of Cheshire Cat was this 😂 still love it

@@EmeraldAquarium Not only Chesire Cat but 95% of Blink's singles LOL. But the arrengment is great
From 99-2003 Mark had that killer sound on his bass that IMHO really became his signature trademark
tradeMarkHoppus
Like a Simon Gallup influence to it
It’s the precision bass sound couple with hybrid slinky’s at the time. Bunch of mids some highs and scooped lows.

Damn this does kinda remind me of The Cure. Never noticed that until you pointed it out! Now I like this song even more.

If you ever tried to play the bass to this(I play guitar, but wanted to try to learn this song on bass) It is truly phenomenal
Great.
Travis Barker - without his stylish drumbeat arrangement, this song would be nothing. seriously

Amazing! If you don't mind me asking, how did you get this? Do you have other multi-tracks from blink's self-titled album?
I have the instrumental for Violence handy. And ummm... I have some other un-released Blink instrumentals, i'll have to look around for. I know I have the multi-tracks for Stockholm Syndrome. And Feelin' This, but if I recall, those are public. The version I have has better separation though.

Hey!
Can I use this on a cover for RUclips? I will put your name on the credits :)
All you need to do is note in your description that the music belongs to Blink 182. You don't need permission from the person who posted this video.

thank you for posting this, for real. How did you get your hands on this? do you have other master tracks w/out vocals?
Gua tau banget ini cover album lama banget .
You think I'd get copyright strike If I use this as background music for a vlog?
you'd have to note that the music belongs to blink-182 in the description
