We did tip #1 but not on purpose. We stayed 5 nights in Positano, Italy but it was the end of their tourist season. The day we checked out was the last day the hotel was open 😆 The town was kinda of quiet but better than the mobs you see on RUclips videos of summertime and the weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm at close to 80 degrees. It was lovely 😊

Talk about unusual places to stay? Many years ago I stayed in the lighthouse at the marina in Marathon, Florida (the Keys). We shared it with 2 other couples, because the winding staircase led up to 3 different rooms. What a view! NO, its no longer available, but it was a once in a lifetime experience.
Wow, what an amazing experience!! A lighthouse is definitely on my list of types of places I'd love to stay in 😊

Lunch is so much cheaper than dinner and when you are walking a lot staying up is impossible!

I travel like a bum
Off season is the best! My biggest splurge off season was a room at a historic boutique hotel in Venice, Italy. It was a converted mansion with only 9 rooms an arm's reach from the Rialto Bridge. I paid about $450 a night, which is a lot, but during the summer it was listed at $900 a night, (this was in 2017) which I could never pay in a million years. No regrets!
I love it!! Knowing when and how to splurge is so important with travel 😊
