The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence with a Top-5 Nationally-Ranked Fine Arts Program, recently performed the high school premiere of "Newsies" on its main stage in the Page Family Center for Performing Arts. Starring senior Kyle Martin (Jack Kelly), senior Chris Pappas (Crutchie), senior Clay Hider (Davey), and sophomore Olivia Cornett (Katherine Plumber), this musical is said to be one of TKA Theatre Co.'s best.
TKA’s Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program, is led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater, Department Chair), Mr. Nathan Adams (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mr. Douglas Gawriljuk (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Miss Sarah Fahey (Theatre Arts), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft), Mr. David Skinner (Instrumental Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Assistant Band Director), Mr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mrs. Macey Norton (Video/Digital Arts), Mrs. Lauren Moxey (Visual Art), Mrs. Stephanie Grasso (Elementary Choir, Woodwinds), and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Piano).

Really nice to see a high school tackle this musical as that is the age range of the real Newsboys strike of 1899. Solid singing and really opened up when the duet started. Well done!

Santa Fe is a fantastic song and Kyle Martin has an awesome voice and I like the way he portrays his character of jack Kelly in newsies

Okay this is just like the real musical. I listened to this and the soundtrack with two different headphones at the same time and couldn't tell the difference

You can tell Chris and Kyle are great friends. Didn’t take much to play Jack and Crutchie, best friends in the show. Both Chris and Kyle have great voices and sold this scene, starting this show in a fantastic way that continued throughout the entire show. I wish I could have seen this show in person, the videos have been excellent. I really love Newsies and to have a high school produce such an extraordinary show tells me how much this school really cares for the quality of fine arts education it give the young people who attend Kings Academy! Kudos to the Fine Arts staff, the actors and team who worked on this musical!
They've been acting together since middle school. Chris played Wonka, and Kyle was Charlie in TKA's Willy Wonka

Thank you, king’s academy, you have trained two very professional performers amazingly. I recognize these two from your Willy Wonka production and I am damn impressed in their growth. I would’ve loved to see em in the jimmy awards but Im sure theyre off to wonderful places. ❤️

The other singer (apart from Kyle) is Chris Pappas. The two of them are good at being best friends with each other. Same in real life as well as far as I know.
I really do like this version better than the original. I guess it is just more believable since they are the right age for the characters. Not to mention that they are great actors too:)
