I need help with a 2017 brz setting up Ecu flash and getting def files to work
i was able to bring everything up on the Romraider ecu editor but when i went to logger i got a error loading deffinition, nosuch element exception. im stuck on how to fix this, can you help?
hi I downloaded it the only thing is the javascript that it is asking for a 32-bit one but can't seem to find one to make everything work accordingly where can I get that if you know?
So if you already have Adobe Java installed on your computer you will need to uninstall it. Then head over to Adobe Java and download the 32bit version. Once installed romraider should function properly.
Have you tuned any NA-T setups? I think my 2004 outback is supported on romraider. Also would you be able to tell if a car is supported if I can data log with romraider? Or is that completely dependent on ecuflash? Thanks!
2004 Outback with 2.5 should be supported. Try reading with Ecuflash and you'll find out if your oem rom is defined. I have not tuned any NA-T Subaru's
@@tunedbyjinjer Thanks for the quick reply! That is what I have, and is read from ECU under the "ECU" dropdown menu? I also dont see my car listed under the selectable vehicle type so would I have to download something else? The closest thing I see is drive by wire LGT/Baja for 2004, mine is a 2004 Outback with a throttle cable
@@minipancakess once you get the tactrix connected you'll need to connect the green flash connectors under the dash and possibly one other connector needs to be jumped. "Read Ecu" will be a highlighted button at the top of ecu flash right below "ECU" drop down. You flash method is probably the same as 02-05 wrx but can't be certain and I can't recall off the top of my head all the options but one of them should work.
@@tunedbyjinjer yeah I tried just now, maybe I’ll need an int plug from Cobb, the one I have is for an 02 and I’m guessing the one underneath my car works with the 03-05 looks similar. I’ve also tried choosing all the subarus and doesn’t look like any of them work when hitting read ecu. Do I have to download the .hex file from rom raider for it to work? Or is that unrelated because this is ecu flash?
@@minipancakess tactrix sells them as well but you can also just jump the connector with wires yourself.
So trying to tune my sti. I got romraider working and I think logger working. But I cant find a rom to upload for the first part. When you go to upload it’s there but when I go to upload I see nothing. Do I have to get the roms separate?
i was having troubles understanding till i watched this. however, when i grab my stock rom from ecuflash and import it into romraider to tune it says that my definitions is not found and asks if i want to choose one so i do and i choose the romraider ecu_defs and then it says that my definitions dont seem to match
2013 wrx btw
Many of the 2008 and newer wrx's and sti's roms do not seem to work properly on romraider. Use Ecuflash for these roms and only use romraider logger to log data from these ecu's.
@@tunedbyjinjer thank you! I appreciate the quick reply. I want to try to tune myself but I also have bought an etune from Eric over at torqued performance. Just in case haha
I have a 2010 Impreza 2.5i with a 4eat transmission, is it possible to even tune my car is romraider does not have any definitions?
Romraider may not but ecuflash I believe does

So with Subaru files its gonna work with BMWs? Thanks in advance! Great work
No clue, never used in on anything but Subaru's and EVO's
hello , thanks for the vídeo very explanatory and good, question can i get rid off engine codes with ECU flash or romraider since cobb took that from us in the access port with the new update ? I have a sti 2016 with a knock sensor read out and i changed it but after 2 days of driving the code came out again, any help it would be appreciated thanks for the very detailing explanation of the installation of those 2 software
You can remove the accessport and disabled engine codes but once you re-install an accessport those codes will be enabled again. Codes like knock sensor aren't ones that you'd want to disable though, you need to figure out the issue.
@@tunedbyjinjer thanks for responding back , i do really want to get the issue resolved and the knock sensor is new is OEM from Subaru it was working fine for 2 days from first day of installation and Monday afternoon started to malfunction again probably is the harness plug where is inserted, Thanks
@@admstudios7 what code is it throwing up? Did you clock the sensor properly when you replaced it? They need to be bolted at the correct tq and facing the correct way.
i did everything lioke you showed but still error definition not found , can you please help me , thank you in advance
Eroor definition not found means you either didn't place definitions in the right location or haven't dictated where the program should look for the definition
What about the 32 bit Java software you need for romraider to work
That's something I've had to address in the comments quite a lot and plan to add another video explaining the common issues people have and how to address them.
This was very helpful but where are you getting the ROM .hex files from? I started my car and did an ECU read using ECUFlash but then the file I save only has .srf and .bin options
Files can be saved as bin or hex after opening in romraider or ecuflash. The one I used in the video was straight from romraider's oem rom list.
Why do you have to download ecu flash? What does that let you do that romraider does not?
Ecuflash is how you actually flash the rom to your vehicle. Romraider can not do this. Ecuflash doesn't have a logger so romraider is needed for that. I prefer making tune adjustments in romraider personally but to each their own.
@@tunedbyjinjer makes sense.. moving to open source from Cobb due to current events. Open source is a lot more complicated so trying to learn as much as I can
@@rboyett it is much more complicated to setup and such is why I made these videos, but the benefits in the rom are well worth it.
It doesnt work for me..at 6:33 i cant find the ecu defs, what i´m i doing wrong?
I deleted everything and started over, managed to get the ecu defs, but now i dont find any roms?
I saw free SSM on your desktop, with what cable do you use it?
Tactrix 1.3 or USB Obd2 with FT232RL
I got live data logging working, but how do you get the logcfg file set up for logging with the SD card only?
I never use the SD card for logging as logging speed is cut to the point I find it useless.
I don’t have definition on rom raider. How do I set that up
Which part? I have videos for the install and setup.
Hey, thanks for the awesome video! So, with RomRaider it has a linux version but, with the ECUFlash software I didn't see Linux listed anywhere. Just wondering if you (or anyone else) has had any issues getting this up and running. My laptop has Arch on it right now and I'd rather not reload Windows back on or order a cable until I know that part will work at least.
Thanks again for the video though. Much appreciated!
Just did a little more research (Google Gemini) and realized I should have thought about this already, ECUFlash doesn't have a Linux version to install but I guess a lot of people have had success using WINE in Linux to run the Windows application.
Just wanted to update this for anyone else that may be looking for answers to this question.
I have never used romraider or ecuflash on anything but windows so unfortunately I'm no help. Might find help over on the romraider.com forum.
So I did all of that, when I opened ecuflash and read the ecu it did it successfully but after I hit Ik a prompt came up saying rom image not recognized by current definitions and there was 3 options under it abort, save, and create new rom. I need help I have a 03 WRX

@@austinliver3387 that is most likely the reason you cannot view the rom. If Ecutek or Cobb you won't be able to access it. If tuned with Carberry you can try adding those rom defs and see if it can be opened.
