A countertop is a great idea. Most of the table tops in IKEA are made of MDF which gets scratched all the time and then swells with moisture as if the desk had pimples. A kitchen countertop actually has to be better quality (e.g. plywood) since it's a work surface that can get wet. @@rustkitty mhh everyone says MDF is. Better then the cardboard in ikea desks. MDF has better material inside? I never had either to compare but the logic says MDF must be better
@@YYZ-21 But this is a countertop, not a desk. You know, the stuff used as work surfaces in the kitchen where you can't make stuff out of cardboard. It's a three layer composite made of MDF core, a laminate backing and a thick treated wood veneer surface. You'd have to intentionally cut pretty deep to reach the fiberboard, so it's safe from water damage, which makes it better than just MDF by itself.
IKEA countertop is not solid wood and will start to sag. You can buy a butcherblock countertop from lowes for 200 and have them cut it any way you want if you don't want the full size. Then stain it whatever color you want and seal it. It will last forever, is far more durable, and looks way better.
Not that hard to fasten on a support bracket the the underside. Wouldn't take much brain power to create one from scratch either. Yet not many people do it. They tend to put in a middle leg that just looks stupid and tends to get in the way
It's not, it's just the camera lens distorting it, you can see it's parallel to the ground. If you look at the side monitors they also don't look perfectly rectangular because of the distortion. It's just way easier to notice on the desk cause it's so wide and "thin" relatively to everything else

If anyone wants to know the background music, it’s Midnight Radio by Cacti 😃
Could I buy a thinner one with a steal bar through it? I have 2 limon joined together and it's annoying because I can't sit in the middle
How do you deal with the sag? A countertop that long with that weight on top will sag over time.
I have the same setup. Also get a center leg. The desk will sag over time otherwise
Do you have anything connecting the drawers and the desk? Do you just lay it on top and that's it?
Just lay it in top
I know everyone uses it still looks damn good. When I finish building my pc I hope I can still afford tbis
How do you adjust the height of it?
What chair do you use? The desk is 27 inch high but my current comp chair doesn’t fit underneath
(Use this) but hilarious that as you mention the desk holding a lot of weight, you’re panning shows it bowed right in the middle lol
add some support braces
Im thinking about getting this setup, but every video I see people just place the countertop ontop of the alex drawers and I keep thinking about if it would just slide off?
How do you "connect" them if you even did that?
