I'm pretty sure they decided the group's concept and debut music after they saw who the final group was going to be. They likely had a bunch completed songs from various producers prepared then picked the song that suited the group the best. I feel like if the final group was Partners we would've gotten powerful ballads with a darker concept, Waterfire would've been brighter but still more ballad driven, Milky Up honestly probably would've gotten this song too. Also, totally not suprised they added choreogrphy even though it was supposed to be a "Vocal Group? They probably decided to add in dance seeing as all these guys were trained to be idols and have dance training.

I don't think they prepared this concept before knowing who won. Hunminjaebit had this kind of pop-band-ballad (?) concept in Build up already. Do you think they prepare in advance because of the short time period to produce the song ? From what I understand producers create tons of tracks that never get released for the most part. Then a company will choose from what's in store, rework it if needed to match the concept and the group. Also some tracks are made under pressure in a few days. And there's a reason why idols have sometime only a week to learn a choreo. They don't always take all the advance to work comfortably I think.
