    Brutal honesty -
    It's not recruiting that's the problem at Michigan, the #1 problem, for years now, is PLAYER DEVELOPMENT!
    Michigan has recruited very well; has the resources in place; and still consistantly gets the very LEAST out of most of their athletes!?! Want proof?...
    From 2016-2019, OSU has had fewer (69)-4&5 star recruits turn into (18) - 1st & 2nd round NFL picks, while UM has had more (71)-4&5 star recruits turn into much less (4) - 1st & 2nd round picks!?!
    Michigan just continuously gets LESS out of their top recruits and appears to actually hinder average levels of development. Some superstars that come to Michigan are so talented they rise above and make it through the program and to the NFL inspite of sub-par development (some have reported sub-standard training techniques as well as poor coaching) but for a long time now the Michigan program seems to get the very LEAST out of athletes.
    Meanwhile, Wisconsin for example, has only signed 9-4&5 star athletes TOTAL in those 4 recruiting years, but has played in 6, SIX, Big10 championship games to Michigan's ZERO! True they are in the other half of the conference, but the Badgers managed to spank the Wolverines this season 35-14 inspite of far inferior recruiting rankings... and before you say it's because Ohio State is in the East, keep in mind both Penn State and Michigan State from the East have been able to beat Ohio State recently and earn trips to the Big10 Championship game.
    Top recruits should do themselves a favor, randomly choose any other college in America, but should avoid Ann Arbor like she has the plague.
    Bottom line is all of the football superstars coming out of high school want to go to the NFL. Michigan appears to be about the worst possible choice nationally for that path!
    Very sad, but very true! With no coaching change or end in sight in Ann Arbor!!!

When Golic left, so did I. Greenberg is really good at one thing, nothing! I love my Buckeyes and I root for the other Big 10 schools in non-con and post-season games. I want the Big 10 to look good. I am so damn tired of the national sports media dismissing our conference. You keep ranting! I am with you.

  • @kentfrederick8929
    @kentfrederick8929 5 лет назад +1

    A. I like Greeny.
    B. If Valenti is so good, why isn't he in Bristol with a show on ESPN?
    C. Bill Curry never beat Auburn, while coaching at Alabama. Tom Osborn had a bad record against Oklahoma the first 10 years at Nebraska. And John Cooper's record against Michigan was lousy.
    I have heard so many pundits say that beating an archrival should not be the sole criteria for keeping or firing a coach. Compared to Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke, Jim Harbaugh is a great coach. Hell, Bo Schembechler started at Michigan in 1969 and didn't win a bowl game until the 81 Rose Bowl.

    • @alexjones3511
      @alexjones3511 5 лет назад

      Cooper was ousted BECAUSE HE COULD NOT BEAT MICHIGAN.
      And Bo had a winning record against ALL of Michigan's rivals except Notre Dame. He may not have won a natty but he still competed for one constantly during the mid-late 70s. Horrible comparision. Bo is still light years better than Harbaugh.

We are talking about Being the powerhouse of the Midwest like you can and should be and even when your not you compete on the highest level nationally. You don't lose by 30 points to a rival that is picking off the same tree and make excuses why your getting pile drived at home no less every year. This is football, this is business and a program. If I was a UM alumni or fan i would not only expect more but I would demand it because you deserve it. Navarre might not of been amazing but Lloyd Carr got you to at least the Rose, Cotton or Orange bowl. That's the bench mark. Black Rogue Every power 5 school has rich boosters and good facilities that doesn’t make you a legacy and Griese was before Brady bwt. Michigan didn’t have a great team this year, taking Army to double overtime and ugly slow starts against Penn State and Wisconsin. To think they could compete with a team that was scoring 55 points a game and giving up 10 is small minded.
      Michigan hasn’t been a powerhouse since the 90’s. The benchmark should be competing for Big Ten championships, playing in the Rose Bowl or the playoffs.

    Wasn't EVERYTHING Greenberg said now about Harbaugh and Michigan true(in his mind) BEFORE the game? Then why did he pick them to WIN?
    Valenti keeps it 100, so HUGE respect. He's ONE THOUSAND percent correct in his take of Mike Greenberg, tried to be a Get Up fan but last week was it. Parading Desmond Howard, Paul FindBama and SEC Clowns to discuss The OSU/MICH rivalry was the first clue this was a Hype effort to get ratings boost (i.e. Michigan/OSU Haters viewers). Mike declaring that WOLVERINES would beat OSU (With ZERO analytical data to back up his claim) while Desmond dumba$$ giggled and snickered in the background and made groundbreakingly stupid statements like "They (OSU) got exposed because they finally played a good team (meaning PSU) while no giving no anal to why OSU struggled with PSU defense (For a Half). BTW - Your Good Team lost to PSU (AND the Badgers) Desmond.
    Seriously what grown a$$ man giggles anymore? GameDay is unwatchable. Get a knowledgeable Michigan person. When you lose the "I can't understand what you just said" argument to Lee Corso, I'm done.
    Anyway, Greenberg let this go on for multiple days. Then after the game he ATTACKS Michigan fans, saying they shouldn't stone their own. You called it Valenti, Greenberg is what's wrong with sports no matter what team you root for.

    So Valenti, since you seem to be all on the hot take bandwagon - and I don't necessarily disagree with you - I have one question:
    Who is out there who is a definite upgrade? PJ Fleck? Maybe, but let's see him do it with a schedule that includes more than one of the 3 marquee programs in the east on the schedule.
    The bottom line is this: If you don't have a clear upgrade in mind, it's better to ride it out.
    Fact: While Lloyd Carr lost six of his final seven against OSU, the average margin in those six losses was 7.5 points. Only two were more than one score games - 37-21 in 2004 and 14-3 in 2007.
    Exit Carr and enter Rich Rod and Hoke and the average margin of defeat WITH A VICTORY INCLUDED IN THE CALCULATION is still 12.8. without it, the average margin of defeat was 16, and only 2 losses were less than 2 score games.
    Fact is, people panicked over a loss to a 2-Time defending National Championship team in App. State (who went on to win their third straight title that season) and ousted Carr without a definite upgrade in place.
    This is why Michigan is in the dire straits they are in. To fire Harbaugh for the sake of firing him would only exacerbate things.

    • @snapmalloy5556
      @snapmalloy5556 5 лет назад

      That is a rough take...The firing of Harbaugh and bringing in someone else would not turn into and cannot be equated to the firing of Carr and bringing Rich Rod. They wouldn't make the mistake of bringing in a coach with a completely different system as they did with Rich Rod and watch him completely dismantle a successful system and dig a hole that they have yet to dig themselves out of.
      Many OSU fans had the same feelings with Cooper. Yeah, he was only 2-10-1 vs UM but he wins and wins a lot. He brings in elite talent and the program is healthy. But what happened? They finally had enough and say hello to Jim Tressel from little Youngstown State and OSU has never looked back.
