- Dumpster diving is salvaging from large commercial, residential, industrial and construction containers for unused items discarded by their owners, but deemed useful to the picker. It is not confined to dumpsters and skips specifically, and may cover standard household waste containers, curb sides, landfills or small dumps.
Different terms are used to refer to different forms of this activity. For picking materials from the curbside trash collection, expressions such as curb shopping, trash picking or street scavenging are sometimes used. When seeking primarily metal to be recycled, one is scrapping. When picking the leftover food from farming left in the fields one is gleaning.
People dumpster dive for items such as clothing, furniture, food, and similar items in good working condition. Some people do this out of necessity due to poverty, others for ideological reasons, while still others do so professionally and systematically for profit.

You’re a good and honest woman ..and also you live in a rich country where food is not a problem..in other countries those food they sell it for 50%..and what you’re doing is not bad.. because of your cold weather, these food get frozen when they get to your very clean garbage bins lined with clean garbage bags.. it’s harmless.. unlike Divisoria.. they sell it on the dirty streets and hot weather which those food get easily spoiled. You’re a blessed woman .. continue doing an honest work

Sawadee kha Julie. Good day to you. I lived in Thailand for more than 20 years. I love and miss Somtam (Thai Papaya Salad). Dinidikdik nila ang sili. Hindi slice lang. Dikdik to the max yan so kahit isang piraso lang feel mo yung sipa.
Pwede mong sabihin. "Preek song met" - Chilli 2 pcs. Direct translation. Or "Preek met deeyaw" - Chilli 1 only. That is how to pronounce. Iba ang spelling.
Ako ang taste to sa Somtam ay "Preeyaw kem preek song met kha." - Maasim (more than usual lime) maalat (more patis) 2 chillies po.
Then yung noodles nila "nom chin' hinahalo sa Somtam yan para maasorb ang mixture ng dish. Then kasabay ng pinaghalong noodles at papaya (Siya ang parang rice) ang ulam ay inihaw na chicken. Sometimes without the nom chin they eat it with sticky rice (not sweet) bilogbilugin bago isasawsaw sa katas ng salad at isubo. Yan ang right way sa pagkain ng somtam. Enjoy eating Somtam next time!
