  • This video will show you how I made a 10 X 10 PVC chicken run for your hens. It is easy to do.
Total cost for this project at the time of the video was $165.00. It is light weigh and easy to move, if you need to move it around.
Most of the material was purchased from Lowes.

Thank you so much for the explicit instructions. If I have a question I just re-run the video, which I wish some of the other posters should have done. This is a CHICKEN RUN and not a coop to those who keep asking about predators and where to collect eggs. This PVC run is exactly how I had envisioned to build mine but all I found was wood-constructed runs until I saw this video. Chicken runs are the day camp for chickens to avoid them for being cooped up during the day. The nice thing about this PVC run is that it is easily moved to another place on the property and for people who are renting, it can easily be disassembled and taken with.

I purchased 2 day old chickens that will be deliver on July 19, with the price of chicken coops and knowing that the day is approaching give me a headache and I even wondered if it was a bad idea trying to raise chickens for meat and eggs for the first time. God will bless you more for posting this video. Thanks a million sir, stay blessed!

This is such a great idea. I think even as a female who's getting older I could handle this kind of construction. I do think I'd put the door closer to the coop so you could close the chickens in at night. There are a lot of predators where I live and I think I'd feel better if I could close the coop, but with that small tweak, I think this would be the answer I'm looking for. Cool!!!

If you add a wheel on each corner and the centre poles you will be able to move it to the fresh grass, your hens will be happier and so much more healthy if you start feeding them some green grass and green vegetables. You may also want to add wheels to their house.

One thing you didn't mention was the cross poles. You used double Tees--I assume with a small piece of pipe in between--for the braces along the top and on the sides. Great idea! I was just about to order some 4-way elbow fittings but when I watched the video again, I saw what you'd done--and not mentioned! Now I don't have to wait for delivery. I can just get a few more Tees and do the crossbars right next to the side poles.
