Hi pekin! I’m a GM/Masters 3 Million + Eve OTP and I am really happy you’re enjoying her mid! Eve is in a really tough spot right now, it’s just super hard due to how prevalent early game presence is which isn’t her strong suit. Not to mention tank items are GIGA strong so it makes playing her kinda tedious. For the next time you play Eve, here are some combo improvements or little macro things you can do. 1.) When attempting to kill a squishy that is next to a teammate or sitting in front of their tower, You can max range Q then immediately press W to instantly slow them. The reason you Q first THEN w is because by W’ing first, it alerts the enemy player immediately to your presence and gives them more time to react before they start taking damage. You will lose count on the amount of squishes that die due to the less .5 seconds of reaction time allotted. 2.) When playing in team fights late game/in games where there is a very serious front line threat, such as a fed Riven, Ambessa, Virgo, etc DO NOT play for one shots on squishes. Instead, hover around your front line and wait for that danger to engage, then immediately W them. 99% of the time this leads to their death cuz Evelynn still does a butt ton of damage to front line! 3.) Always build Lich bane first. Storm surge is sadly a bait item :( 4.) Banshees is your best friend, even if they have 0 AP on the enemy team, the Spell shield it provides will get you so many kills. 5.) y late game, SPLIT PUSH!!!! Evelynn is one of the most annoying split pushes in the game due to Lich vane and her stealth. She can shred towers with ease and get out of collapses even easier. 6.) Learn the maximum range of tower and pink ward visibility. While I won’t say exactly where, there is a spot between tier 2 and 3 turrets that Evelynn can just sit and not be visible. Some of the funniest cheese kills ever happen there. There’s a lot more but these r just some of the funny silly things I noticed throughout your gameplay! Eve mid is seriously fun to watch, wouldn't mind seeing even more of her, even if you said you don't often play a lot of the same off meta. Rat arc v2 could be here!
24:33 I think what you could do is buffer E and flash on top of the Sylas. While it won't do as much damage as Q > E, the guaranteed charm is more important since you can chain E > Q > AA + Q to kill Sylas and he won't have time to CC or W heal. Really great video though! I'm tempted to try Evelynn mid now and int my next 5 games. EDIT: Oh you talked about it later XD
In 14:03 you forgot about Talon. You can see the ward Sylas was backing on getting disabled by Talon's sweeper and when fighting Sylas an enemy ward is placed in the mid bush by Talon who's probably backing inside the top bush.

I don't know if they were just yapping, but I have some calculations and numbers proving why Eve is in a bad spot right now (at least in my iron-plat opinion, I never reached higher than plat 4). Speaking of yapping, here's my two cents. WARNING: SOME BORING NUMBERS AND LOGIC AHEAD DON'T LIKE DON'T READ JUST UPVOTE THE VIDEO AND MOVE ON: So Evelynn's downfall goes all the way back two+ years ago to the durability update of 12.10. How do I know the patch number? Because that's the day the Evelynn haters won. For those of you who don't know, the durability patch gave +70 base heath and +14 health per level to most champs, as well as 0.8 magic resist per level. We all know this hurt assassins, as 240 hp and 14 magic resist for free for every champ is naturally going to make assassins feel bad. For a while, most AD assassins went cleaver/conqueror/stridebreaker. Yeah, you read that right, all the assassins turned bruiser because they also gained the durability, and they couldn't one shot. But what happened to the AP assassins, since they don't have bruiser items? Yes and no. AP items at the time gave a huge amount of HP or CDR (pre-cdr change), allowing mages to be a bit more tanky naturally. AP champions like Ekko and Karthus, who had continuous dmg, and not just burst dmg, were fine. Champions like Elise and Evelynn suffered because they only had burst, and did not care about HP as they wanted to get in and get out. But there was one other huge problem, specifically for Evelynn that tanked her dmg after the durability update next season. Patch 13.18. Crown of the Shattered Queen. Got buffed. With 15 more AP. And with 35% more dmg mitigation. For those of you who don't know, CotSQ (or just Crown) gave all mages an effect called safeguard: It reduced 75% of the incoming damage lasting for 3 seconds. yeah, you heard that right. ALL MAGES HAD A 75% DMG REDUCTION BUFF. What. The actual F. Riot. In order to break safeguard, you just had to damage them. The problem is, Evelynn can't damage an enemy for 2.5 seconds while the charm charges. That means you either had to q to break the safeguard and run, then regank in the next 30 seconds (they're safe now that they know you're here.) Or Charm them anyway, proc safeguard, and have your entire combo do 75% less dmg. Numbers Time! At that point, from the durability update to the Crown ruining the game, Evelynn got three buffs and one nerf. Her charm magic shred went up by 10%, her charm duration increased by 0.25 seconds, and her q base dmg increased by 5. Her nerf? Reduced magic resistance. So she does a bit more dmg, and is a bit less tanky. That's fine, she's an assassin anyway. Right, Riot? well, assuming all champions have one item, Evelynn rushed Mejais into Shadowflame- at the time gave 100 ap, health, and extra magic pen on shielded champions. Level 6, Assuming 4 average Dark Seal stacks, that's 131 AP. Her full combo at the time (35+30% ap, 15(x3) + 30% ap(x3), 75+6.5 target max hp, 125 + 75% AP) is roughly 680 dmg. Empowered R is +175 +125% ap, so a bit over 900 with empowered R. I'm not doing MR math, but basically at that point Eve couldn't one shot, as the average health for a league champion back then was 1500-2000. Now reduce that by 75% Enjoy your 680*.25 dmg buddy. That's right, against a safeguarded mage your lvl 6 all in combo did 170 dmg on average to a midlane mage. Congratulations, as long as mid had safeguard, you couldn't gank mid. At all. Never mind trying to PUNISH the splitting mage that's all alone with only a safeguard to keep them safe after laning phase. And then they nerfed her so hard she lost 4% win rate and never recovered. Patch 14.5 her q lost 5% ap ratio on all ranks. 5% you might say isn't much, but her q hits 4 times, and they nerfed every hit on the q. Evelynn lost 20% ap and never recovered. 14.9 her Charm slow was reduced by 20%, and her r lost 10% ap unempowered, and empowered lost 24% AP. Why did they nerf her so hard? Because Crown got removed from the game, the item that completely hosed Evelynn. The removal of crown spiked Evelynn's win rate really hard, and made her previous buffs too strong. So, all they did was walk back on the previous buffs and everything was fine right? No. Not even close. They took her out back and double tapped her in the head twice, just to make sure she stayed down. 14.1 was the item patch, and subsequent patches buffed AP items + crown removal which is why they nerfed Evelynn. 52% winrate diamond+ and 53% winrate plat and below. After a staggering 44% total AP nerf, Evelynn was now sitting at a 47% winrate plat and below, and a 48% winrate diamond+. She hasn't been touched since, so why is her win rate so bad right now? Why was it dropping? 46.7% win rate diamond+, 46.3+ win rate plat and below. Ladies and gentlemen, Yordles and spirits, I give you: Patch 15.1, or the Atakhan patch, or the Objective focused patch. Evelynn is a kill-focused roaming champion, who wants to scale harder and faster than the enemy by killing them and leading the game. She comes online at level 6, so she's a farming jungler until then. Sure, she can get kills to accelerate, but if she ganks a lane and gets a slower level 6, it's good for the laner, but bad for her. So, why is that bad? Feats of strength. Your options are to take a tower (Evelyn doesn't touch towers, can't help there), get three objectives (Evelynn has HORRIBLE objective control, and needs her team to help), and get the first kill (evelynn ganks pre 6 can be good but are free to run from with good vision + flash, and then you're own lvl 6 is slow because you failed to kill.) Someone compiled the best junglers to gain Feats of Strength, and most of the top champs in the JG right now are junglers with good dueling capabilities and amazing objective control/cc. Wukong, Xin, etc. Evelynn? From a study done by an separate Evelynn main (100 games, plat 3-diamond 1), they got Feats of strength 38% of the time. Its genuinely horrible. In my own opinion, I feel like picking Evelynn means giving up feats of strength, and the win rates apparently agree with my idea. She lost 2% win rate just by existing in the same Jungle, the only difference is that with grubs/feats/atakhan JG became a lot more objective focused, something that Evelynn isnt. So, how does riot fix this? Well after 2 patches of realizing Evelynn is doing worse than Darius JG, Riot in all it's generosity gives Evelynn...! An E movement speed buff. On her upgraded E. That doesn't always proc. And it isn't a flat buff, the E rank lvl 1 is still the same. At least she got a 10% R buff though right? That will fix everything, right?!? "huh, this kill-focused champion is having a rough time in an objective focused meta. Maybe if we give her a bit of move speed on an ability." "but wait, her ability wont be upgraded at level 6 where the first major objectives come out because her E will will be rank 1 since W max is better" "Eh, just throw 10% R buff on her and call it a day" "but didn't we nerf her R by 24% last time?" "did I stutter?" ............. thanks riot balance team. her win rate went up by .4%. That's it. They did nothing about her ability to control objectives, clear jg (because her Move Speed is only on her empowered ability, and if you're clearing camps it isn't empowered), or fix any of the nerfs in previous patches. On top of that, the item re-balance in 14.X for gold efficiency hurt how much AP Evelynn can have at one time. Now they're buffing her a second time. Oh, maybe they'll give her q dmg back just a little to help clear. maybe they'll reduce the R duration so its up faster in teamfight. OR, MAYBE, THEY MIGHT EVEN..... "we here at riot are giving Evelynn a 5 flat dmg buff on her e, scaling up to 60 at max rank." They're pissing on us. Evelynn mains have been working with a 46% winrate and Riot is taking the piss on us. Another E buff that means NOTHING if the enemy has MR. You max W for the 45% magic shred, which is needed since items dont give much ap and the durability update. All Riot is doing is buffing Evelynn's late game... WHEN ITS HER ******** EARLY GAME THAT SUCKS SO MUCH HER PICK RATE WAS DROPPED TO 2%. SHES SITTING ON A 2% PLAY RATE, THE LOWEST ITS EVER BEEN SINCE HER RELEASE. AND SHES STILL ONLY 47% WINRATE. RIOT. WHAT. THE. F. I get that some champions need to have a lower win rate, otherwise they dominate pro. But Evelynn has never been a pro pick. She's been locked at a sub 47% win rate ever since her nerfs, and I think Riot is to scared to buff her properly or she'll become "a low elo menace." They're shooting a champion because they don't want to use the resources to properly make her a viable option. Great indie game Rito, absolutely amazing how some champions fall off the deep end and never make it back up.
Tbh the rework was the biggest nerf in history of LOL. Her old W was a cleanse for slows and a speed boost. Basically briar W but you could control the champion. Her Q was every half second, and her E was basically a double tap ability that you couldn’t run from. - New Eve can’t get speed boost without using E, which is her second main source of damage. Has no Cleanse. Her ultimate is basically mele range, as opposed to her old ultimate which was ranged. She has not passive attack speed boost, and she can’t build AD anymore. Old evelynn could do all of those things. The only thing was that she required items in order to do real damage. - New Eve should be able to activate her E out of combat without needing a champion or minion nearby. Her allure takes too long to proc, and it shows your location (obviously time it right and they don’t know). But that 2.5 seconds is so stupid. - She really just needs to be able to activate her E out of combat. That would fix a LOT of her issues. - Like when they reworked her she had a 5 second CD on her Q, as opposed to old evelynn that didn’t. - Or at least don’t make her stop moving to cast her Q. Old evelynn could just cast her Q, she didn’t need to stop, make a skill shot, and then keep moving. Which is honestly useless as an assassin.
Hey I just wanted to say I really, really love your Evelynn mid videos. Everyone else says it's the genuine worst thing you could do + she's awful in the meta rn so it's like double bad. I was really sad at the thought that I could only take this out in norms/swift play, but after finding your videos very recently I feel more confident about this pick and I will try to climb with it. Keep up the good work, thank you :) Edit: Reason why she's bad in meta rn is because it's so early game focused + objectives are a huge deal now. Evelynn wins vs absolutely no other jungler early in drawn out fights, her clear speed is bad, and she can't really solo objectives (hence the want for the Q buff) Not to mention the domination tree nerf and the fact that she's an assassin with a broken passive which means she needs to be kept weak aso to not frustrate the playerbase too much. (though imo having a 75g counter means she isnt that strong just frustrating)
i love watching evelyn play. She such a fun champ and forcing people/players to play around her is so interesting. Like you have to slow down and your teammates. She is powerful by execution and timing is everything,
I definitely recommend E first to charm if you can- the increased range from stealth makes it almost guaranteed and then the q is free since they're charmed
Perhaps the balance to buffing her e was to nerf the q aoe, specifically bc her e deals aoe dmg too, depending on what she hits on the way to her e target. If her q clear is weaker, then positioning to max e hits is likely the intended focus.

I'd have liked to see the other iteration of runes, which is with Conq And is REALLY STRONG for dueling and skirmishes with the jungler. This pick is unironically as strong as any other midlane assassin

I got baited and played Eve mid. Actually felt good tho. Even when your behind you can get back by roaming or picking up a squishy. Once you have 1 item your combo kills a squishy.
nerfed her entire kit q, w slow, e, damage speed, r damage ap scale and excute. and nerfed litchbane. so yeah shes lowest w/r for good reasons she got nerfed very hard.
u have to trade with q when they go to trade you level 1, if you can elec proc it can make it somewhat even. if you do that a couple times it makes the lane much easier. if you just play for farm they destroy you too hard. ive played against viktor and ahri, lost against ahri twice, tbh i think ahri is one of the hardest ones since she has a dash
@5:50 when u tried diving sylas, wouldnt it be better to flash E? Because its point and click and he cant dash/flash away because u follow. Then Q is guaranteed.
it used to be a core item for her bc it gave great AP and Magic pen alongside the dash which made charm procs mich easier from range but since they changed the item to give much less ap and health instead she just does not really benefit from this item anymore. youd be better off just build straight ap and pen item and position better rather than buy a sub-optimal item to possibly get combos off easier

Its genuinely horrible. In my own opinion, I feel like picking Evelynn means giving up feats of strength, and the win rates apparently agree with my idea. She lost 2% win rate just by existing in the same Jungle, the only difference is that with grubs/feats/atakhan JG became a lot more objective focused, something that Evelynn isnt. So, how does riot fix this? Well after 2 patches of realizing Evelynn is doing worse than Darius JG, Riot in all it's generosity gives Evelynn...!
An E movement speed buff. On her upgraded E. That doesn't always proc. And it isn't a flat buff, the E rank lvl 1 is still the same. At least she got a 10% R buff though right? That will fix everything, right?!?

her win rate went up by .4%. That's it. They did nothing about her ability to control objectives, clear jg (because her Move Speed is only on her empowered ability, and if you're clearing camps it isn't empowered), or fix any of the nerfs in previous patches. On top of that, the item re-balance in 14.X for gold efficiency hurt how much AP Evelynn can have at one time. Now they're buffing her a second time. Oh, maybe they'll give her q dmg back just a little to help clear. maybe they'll reduce the R duration so its up faster in teamfight. OR, MAYBE, THEY MIGHT EVEN.....

They're pissing on us. Evelynn mains have been working with a 46% winrate and Riot is taking the piss on us. Another E buff that means NOTHING if the enemy has MR. You max W for the 45% magic shred, which is needed since items dont give much ap and the durability update. All Riot is doing is buffing Evelynn's late game...

I get that some champions need to have a lower win rate, otherwise they dominate pro. But Evelynn has never been a pro pick. She's been locked at a sub 47% win rate ever since her nerfs, and I think Riot is to scared to buff her properly or she'll become "a low elo menace."
They're shooting a champion because they don't want to use the resources to properly make her a viable option.

Tbh the rework was the biggest nerf in history of LOL.
Her old W was a cleanse for slows and a speed boost. Basically briar W but you could control the champion. Her Q was every half second, and her E was basically a double tap ability that you couldn’t run from.

New Eve can’t get speed boost without using E, which is her second main source of damage. Has no Cleanse. Her ultimate is basically mele range, as opposed to her old ultimate which was ranged. She has not passive attack speed boost, and she can’t build AD anymore. Old evelynn could do all of those things.
The only thing was that she required items in order to do real damage.

New Eve should be able to activate her E out of combat without needing a champion or minion nearby. Her allure takes too long to proc, and it shows your location (obviously time it right and they don’t know).
But that 2.5 seconds is so stupid.

Or at least don’t make her stop moving to cast her Q. Old evelynn could just cast her Q, she didn’t need to stop, make a skill shot, and then keep moving. Which is honestly useless as an assassin.
Hey I just wanted to say I really, really love your Evelynn mid videos. Everyone else says it's the genuine worst thing you could do + she's awful in the meta rn so it's like double bad. I was really sad at the thought that I could only take this out in norms/swift play, but after finding your videos very recently I feel more confident about this pick and I will try to climb with it.

Reason why she's bad in meta rn is because it's so early game focused + objectives are a huge deal now. Evelynn wins vs absolutely no other jungler early in drawn out fights, her clear speed is bad, and she can't really solo objectives (hence the want for the Q buff)
Not to mention the domination tree nerf and the fact that she's an assassin with a broken passive which means she needs to be kept weak aso to not frustrate the playerbase too much. (though imo having a 75g counter means she isnt that strong just frustrating)
i love watching evelyn play. She such a fun champ and forcing people/players to play around her is so interesting. Like you have to slow down and your teammates. She is powerful by execution and timing is everything,
at 14:12 yes it was canceled. Eve's E is surprisingly easy to get canceled randomly.
I definitely recommend E first to charm if you can- the increased range from stealth makes it almost guaranteed and then the q is free since they're charmed
Homegaurd now cover the whole fountain so you dont need to stand in the center anymore you can be on the edge of the stairs
Perhaps the balance to buffing her e was to nerf the q aoe, specifically bc her e deals aoe dmg too, depending on what she hits on the way to her e target. If her q clear is weaker, then positioning to max e hits is likely the intended focus.

I got baited and played Eve mid. Actually felt good tho. Even when your behind you can get back by roaming or picking up a squishy. Once you have 1 item your combo kills a squishy.
For me it was the R ratio nerfs. Level 6 Eve with Lichbane should be able to kill a low hp adc/mage, but most of the time they walk away.
nerfed her entire kit q, w slow, e, damage speed, r damage ap scale and excute. and nerfed litchbane. so yeah shes lowest w/r for good reasons she got nerfed very hard.

u have to trade with q when they go to trade you level 1, if you can elec proc it can make it somewhat even. if you do that a couple times it makes the lane much easier. if you just play for farm they destroy you too hard. ive played against viktor and ahri, lost against ahri twice, tbh i think ahri is one of the hardest ones since she has a dash

the winrate of evelynn jungle with rocketbelt first is awful, so probably the same for mid
it used to be a core item for her bc it gave great AP and Magic pen alongside the dash which made charm procs mich easier from range but since they changed the item to give much less ap and health instead she just does not really benefit from this item anymore. youd be better off just build straight ap and pen item and position better rather than buy a sub-optimal item to possibly get combos off easier
