My rule of thumb for economy: 2 check in luggages no more than 50lbs each, a carry on no more than 20lbs, and a personal bag that can and must be stowed under the seat. I've been using a medium. size backpack as my personal bag. Never had to pay extra. For convenience, if I'm planning to buy anything at the Duty Free shop for pasalubung, I keep my carry on and backpack some space for these. I don't bother bringing soap, toothpaste, shampoo, cologne, etc. because they are all available in Pinas. Most airlines have these as complimentary items anyway. Most important of all, avoid flying Philippine Airlines.

@@laze6230 PAL are a lot more stricter than most airlines regarding baggage allowance. The service sucks unless the flight attendants are in good mood especially if you're fellow Filipino. Of course there are the usual delays and cancellations. If you're flying from LAX, be prepared to do some walking from check in counter to the gate. In all, PAL crews think it's your privilege to fly with them and not the other way around. Check the PAL reviews.

Usually okay lang naman ang powder sa hand carry as long as within 12 oz. If greater than 12 oz for hand carry, it may require additional screening. I suggest na if more than 12 oz, sa checked-in baggage na lang ito ilagay.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner due to the number of messages I've been receiving.
Ang alam ko dati sa Gulf Air ay pwede pagsamahin basta hindi lalagpas ng 32kg per baggage but now I don't know if they still allow it. I suggest to directly contact Gulf Air para sure.

Good morning po. Mgflight po ako from Japan thru JAL to Philippinse. 23kls po ba tlga ang standard check in baggae nila? May binigay po kasi sa akin na papel na 2pcs of 20kls , 1 pc of 7kls. Ok lng po kaya na mgexceed ako hanggang 21kls per baggage. Thanks
Hi po. Ang standard talaga ng JAL is 23kls per piece of baggage and you’re allowed to bring 2pcs of 23kls/pc of free baggage allowance sa economy class.Huwag lang pong lalagpas ng 23kls/pc of baggage. Have a safe flight po.
