I’m sorry we have so many victims in this world that just can’t take any responsibility for themselves anymore. I’m sorry the parents don’t parent their children anymore. They expect the teachers to parent every child that comes through the door. I really wish everyone could actually take responsibility for their actions and how they raise their children and the children can take responsibility for their actions. Why does everything have to fall on the school and the teacher. Everyone’s beating a dead horse and it’s getting old.

Autism can't be "fixed" by parenting.

I was a TA for many years. I understand that she wants to put her daughter in the regular classroom. I also do feel her sadness. However the school can’t just throw out any student or suggest parents to put their kid in a different setting. It usually go through a long professional evaluation to see if such student really not benefit from regular classroom setting and why. Her daughter probably already got evaluated on her learning n behavior by professional and teachers and shows that she gets more benefit from the the disability classroom setting than regular classroom. Kids with disabilities learn differently than kids with no disabilities. Regular teachers are not trained to teach kids with disabilities, so putting her in a regular classroom setting it won’t benefit her learning. In fact, she may get stress out by the teaching pace and fall behind. Regular classroom setting has many other kids in the classroom that teacher needs to pay attention to, most teachers don’t have teacher assistance, so it will be very hard for her daughter to get a lot of attention. Kids with disabilities needs one on one to learn. Not all school has that funding to hire immediately to find assistance who are trained to help kids with disabilities. Sometimes is not the school’s fault. Her daughter needs to go to a school that has a program that has been established for kids with disabilities so she can actually benefit from learning.

Yeah, I've seen some horrible stuff in my years. I was born with Spina Bifida and I've seen and felt this type of discrimination but not like this. 😢

When I was in school, I had Epilepsy and I was not allowed to attend School Dances and even my Graduation. They said it was for the Safety of Others, and when I got angry, I was told to stop thinking about myself, and do what's best for others.

i am looking for advice i was discriminated against for having a disability in school and it continued at other schools i also did not have rights to education and the schools violated my 504 plan and treated me terribly i also have proof of discrimination in my school records it started at a school called rosa parks interesting right a school named after a woman who stood up for equal rights i was abused by the school system and want to do something about it for myself and others because its not right this started at age 8 the school it started at got away with this along with the other schools that treated me differently and basically said that “i didnt need help with learning” as if i was lying about having a disability i was qualified for thats illegal and wrong and to try to paint a child as a narcissist and take away there rights to be successful its wrong. i even have proof that i brought up the discrimination when i was a child its in my school records they noted it as if i was just acting out there was no discussion about it and it wasnt addressed so now im a 20 year old with no education and because i met someone that lives in another school district i am currently living with i found a school and now have rights in another county if i didnt meet this man i wouldnt be able to get my diploma and peruse a career because my rights to be successful were being taken away they mentally abused me and even caused me to be suicidal at a young age my mom didnt care that things seemed off she never even realized how big of a deal this all was and barely advocated for me so she was not able to do a lawsuit about this and wouldn’t ever care to so im looking for help by myself and being my own advocate to get the justice i deserve if anyone has any opinions on what i can do to get a lawsuit let me know because i dont have the education to work i cant pay for a lawyer and i also need advice on how to get around the reporting date being passed i feel i should have the right to sue about this because it almost ruined my life because of what they did to me and also i did report this at a young age to my school so i dont really understand why that isnt enough to be accomidated to get the lawsuit its also noted in my school records that i was called “annoying” witch is part of the proof that i was being discriminated against unfortunately i cant post the other things they said because my post could get taken down but this is not okay at all and im hoping to get any advice on how to deal with this.

Me Too! I grew up with Epilepsy, and I was removed from the school because my Seizures disrubted the class. Instead, I got sent to "Special Ed", and Sports were done through the "Special Olympics". My Parents were also forced to sign papers, as it was mandatory that I lose my man-hood to becoming a Dad, for the sake of the children.

Folks without disabled children that go to school today don't understand. These folks will have the IEP special education plan in place and won't read it or implement the specific needs of the child. Causing triggers and environments these disabled kids can't cope with. My kid school hid the fact they had a special needs school all along for my child. A youth minister told me about it as he dropped kids off there. The waiting list is a mile long as it had only 6 kids in each class. We fought so hard and got him in there and guess what ? He did great in that smaller setting. Also they call parents too much, we lose jobs because they ignore the iep. Yet they take all this grant money thousands extra allocated for your kid needs from the government and don't use it on your child. Violating no child left behind act and Americans with disabilities act. That's where disability attorneys come in to hold accountability. I hope this mom gets all the help she needs! These schools are horrible 🙏💜

It seems to me that when school districts are tight on money children with disabilities suffer the most.

This is disgusting; my hat off fir the mom who is fighting back.
I have an autistic family member who was left alone in the school playground, terrified because they were alone. The school did nothing for this child, and the mother decided to homeschool instead. Difficult to do when you also have to work to survive. This was here in Oregon. It sickens me the way our family member was often treated by the school they attended. Left school crying most days.
I hope the mom in this story gets a good result from the lawsuit. I admire her for what she is doing. My heart goes out to her.

She threw a desk at the teacher, so I don’t think she’s safe enough be around other kids.

Think about the other children, who are not allowed to learn, because this girl is having an emotional fit, that escalated into violence. It is good, for all the other children, that this out of control child was removed. The whole idea of mainstreaming short changes normal children, as their time is wasted dealing with the anomaly. There used to be special schools, for children with mental, physical and emotional challenges. This child would be better served in one of them. As to discrimination, you could say also we discriminate against those who have criminal behavior, by jailing them. This is more a matter of keeping the majority of children (and the teacher) safe from a violent child, who exhibits criminal behavior.

Honestly as an autistic girl she's pretty lucky to have her time at public school cut if she wants to keep her gender intact.

Oh no! Not ok. Why isn't she getting services I've never seen this. Usually takes way more than 1 dangerous incident for removal and even then so the district usually has exhausted all options for that child.

Since she threw a desk, why wasn't she charged with assault? One instance of criminal behavior is enough to arrest.
