House looks incredibly beautiful, sensibly architectured, made pragmatically green with local specious and most importantly, planned brilliantly to cool it down with the cheeky idea of effective air circulation. Trying to imagine how wonderful it would be to stay here. God bless the owners, architects and all others who created this masterpiece.
I cant find any friendliness to ecology here. Please don't misinterpret eco friendliness and confuse people. as an architect you have a commitment to the society in educating them the right things about sustainability. You could just call it a "well ventilated house" instead of eco house.
Using wood for framing or building houses is much more sustainable than using other framing materials such as steel or aluminium. Wood is a renewable resource while others use a ton of energy and hence have an enormous amount of carbon footprint. Hope this helps you understand that 'eco houses' should ideally use renewable resources like wood.
Finally, happy to see someone maintaining the natural landscape and local flora. I have always thought why it is essential to bring in foreign species and make it look all so artificial, to make a landscape "trendy". We have a lot of local options here if you are ready to think creatively.
What was the plant that you saw at the entrance....natural flora...there is a limit to fool people... There is no ecofriendliness...and there is no natural flora....just a moderately good looking woman...
Nice house. Eco-friendly is a bit of a stretch, in Kottayam, temperatures never exceed 32 degrees, and winds blow throughout the year making an AC redundant when one has large windows and high ceilings like our old traditional houses.
@Geo: In most parts of Kerala, it's the humidity that makes it appear that the temperature is around 40°C. 32°C would be in an area surrounded by trees. It wouldn't be the max. temperature in Kottayam.
Maybe because viewers are not familiar with the concept, nobody had anything to say about the '𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧'. The wind tower (also called 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳) is a traditional architectural element used to create cross ventilation and passive cooling in buildings. For centuries wind towers have been used for ventilation and cooling of buildings in the hot and arid or humid areas. (I've worked in Saudi Arabia and it's part of the traditional architecture there.)
It is a smartly built house with good air circulation and natural light. The best eco friendly part is keeping all trees, allowing ground water penetration and planting some local species
Eco house means it should feel organic and should throw a light of soul at every corner of the architecture....I don't feel anything of that sort here......it's just an other good piece of good work I can say ..
Definitely not an ecohouse. Sustainability and ecofriendliness is questionable here. "Ecohouse" was tagged probably in the video to increase the views.
It's a beautiful house,a dream home, so open so airy, wonderful to see the wood and bricks and greens co habit in this vast place! So blessed are the owners to have such a big property by god's grace
Very good information. Worth the watch. Keep watching till the end for the interesting information. The beginning might seem underwhelming. But the video gets much better.
@Tino Star: This 'double roof' is a now standard practice now. Earlier it was a Mangalore tile root and ceiling of wood. Now, it's a concrete 'ceiling' topped by a tiled root. For decades, in the case of a house with a concrete roof, an addition 'tiled roof' was considered unnecessary, and dispensed with. People have realised that a flat concrete roof is simply not suited for a state that has 2 monsoons. In this case of a 'double roof', the layer of air in between, also acts as an insulation, and keeps the house cooler in summer.
I live in Sri Lanka with an environment very much similar to that of Kerala. I am very impressed with your concept and wonder whether you could help make a similar plans in a similar environment like in Sri Lanka
Is it made of rammed earth? How is it a Sustainable build? Natural cooling is more energy efficient for sure! Did you make sure that the house is built so that it faces the correct direction for sun exposure?
Really confused how are we naming a house which has huge wood work done by cutting trees. 🤔🤔 Is this Eco friendly, Environment friendly, Sustainable Houses are incorrectly used.
If hot air is vented out cool air will replace it. So air sucked from lower height will always be cooler than the hot air vented out. Also if heat gain is avoided as hot air is no longer trapped.
Nice concept.. Liked it.. But just wanna ask.. we are from western rajasthan and we faces dry hot air from desert around 6~8 month in a year.. so do you have any plan to control these dry and hot air s during the summers.. how you we build a cool house in deserrt
Eco house, you didnot say about any 3R uses...so it is good and excellent design and work. Keep the design and interior more focus to use of Reuse Reduce and Recycle material for the constructions . That can more reduce the Carbonless and increase the ecological sustainability .
@Mahadevan Sivaramakrishnan: Of course. Many people have the interior re-done - adding storage/wardrobes, attached bathrooms, etc., while maintaining the external appearance.

Excellent decision by the house owners.

Good tastes never go out of fashion !
Congrats for the New home.
The 'ECO HOUSE' built by cutting a hill and furnished by cutting the trees....btw the house looks good.

Beautiful house . Always a dream . Unfortunately Never got the right person / right resource at the right time .

The violin add in between moved me to tears 🙏
How can you call it an eco house ... when you demolish the natural lanscape of the property?? This construction have natural ventilation, thats it.
Exactly
The first thing that caught my eye, Kiko Arguello's painting.
Maybe because viewers are not familiar with the concept, nobody had anything to say about the '𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧'.

just saying ecofriendly repeatedly does not make this house ecofriendly.
True
May be echo friendly😄
It is a smartly built house with good air circulation and natural light. The best eco friendly part is keeping all trees, allowing ground water penetration and planting some local species
I agree
Haha yes
This is one of prettiest houses I have ever seen

I like this! Earthy and comforting look.
It's a beautiful house,a dream home, so open so airy, wonderful to see the wood and bricks and greens co habit in this vast place! So blessed are the owners to have such a big property by god's grace

Such a well-designed, aesthetic & stylish house.
Awesome architecture. Stunning interior. Beautiful home 🏡
This is what kerala needs in future. Here most houses have windows . But not open.

Beautiful 😍 😘 I love it!! Simple, minimalist, airy....
Very good information. Worth the watch. Keep watching till the end for the interesting information. The beginning might seem underwhelming. But the video gets much better.
Is it ecological or economical house I didn't find both here...
Wow. Can a similar concept be possible in a 3/4 ground?
Question: At 4:17 you said the house has a double ceiling with concrete and wood. How is it possible can you send me more details? I’ll appreciate.
@Tino Star:

Awesome... Rarely you see a well planned and beautiful home
I didn’t see much sustainability in it other than big windows which for some strange reasons people do not open it
😆
mosquitoes
Exactly 😂😂
Right. Same thoughts.
Tiles, granite, wooden doors and wooden furniture's... I don't really understand why do you calls this an eco friendly house?

During summer how the hot air movement makes the house cold?
If hot air is vented out cool air will replace it. So air sucked from lower height will always be cooler than the hot air vented out. Also if heat gain is avoided as hot air is no longer trapped.
I appreciate the Skilled Architectural and Civil work ,But please don't keep saying Eco Friendly 😀 😊

But just wanna ask.. we are from western rajasthan and we faces dry hot air from desert around 6~8 month in a year.. so do you have any plan to control these dry and hot air s during the summers.. how you we build a cool house in deserrt

@Mahadevan Sivaramakrishnan:
Of course. Many people have the interior re-done - adding storage/wardrobes, attached bathrooms, etc., while maintaining the external appearance.
