i just want to say, of all the videos here in YT, yours must be the clearest and easiest to follow, coming from a non-engineer point of view. thank you for this. i need something easy like this to use for my M2P. i need to measure a part of our property. thank you very much! you earn a new subscriber here from The Philippines - and i hope you get more. salute!
Great video indeed- I have your exact set up and appreciate the approach- adding drone service to my construction/engineering practice- solid approach.
Great video!, i appreciate how you made this video simple but very clear and super easy to follow, though, i have question about post processing, could we use Agisoft Metashape to process the image?
Thanks for watching my video and thank you for the kind feedback! The short answer to your question is yes, you can process the images captured in Measure Ground Control in Metashape to create an orthomosaic image. If you are creating a 3D model, however, there are better flight automation apps than MGC for that use case. For instance if you used Dronelink's facade capturing capabilities, Metashape could do a much better job constructing a model from that data than from what you would be able to capture using Measure Ground Control. I'm hoping to do a video soon covering modeling using Dronelink and a Mavic Mini 3 Pro.
Thank you Kylee! I really loved MGC until they were bought out. They're still a solid option but their customer service leaves a bit to be desired. Have you ever used Maps Made Easy? I think I'm going to do a video on that soon.
As mentioned in previous question, but I did not see a reply. I have a Phantom 4 Pro v.2 with its own screen do I just prep my drone like usual? Then as my remote is active do I go to Measure Ground Control App on my phone and launch saved flight?
Hi! I'm sorry I missed your question before. Admittedly, I don't have any personal experience using 3rd party software (like MGC) on the Phantom Controllers with built-in screens but from what I have read and seen in the past, I believe you would have to purchase a second Phantom 4 controller that holds a device, install the software on the phone (or other device), then pair it with your Phantom. I know that the controller with the built-in screen has the USB port but I don't think you can safely control the aircraft with an external device. Here's a link to a similar question on the DJI forum about connecting and controller the aircraft with an external device: forum.dji.com/thread-94803-1-1.html And here is a link to a question about installing 3rd party software on an integrated controller: forum.dronedeploy.com/t/running-drone-deploy-with-inbuilt-screen-on-controller/14429 Best of luck to you my friend!
hi 👋 ı have a question can u tell me what is the diffenrences between dji phantom 4 with rtk and phantom 4pro v2.0 for mapping is there a only sensibility difference or more ? and what is the sensibility in rtk and other I m planning for use to field mapping and use with dji agras t30 thank u 🙂
Hi Kulebey! The Phantom 4 RTK allows you to use the drone in conjunction with a ground station to get globally precise spatial data within 1 centimeter of accuracy. The Phantom 4 Pro v2 will get great local accuracy but not necessarily precise global accuracy. This means if you take a measurement of something you mapped using the P4Pv2 you will get a relatively accurate measurement (I average about a 4 - 5cm margin of error) but it's position globally (gps) may be off by a meter or more. A good general rule to go by is, if the data product will be used in any type of legal document or filing you should use RTK or PPK to capture globally accurate data. Otherwise, if local accuracy is all you need then you do not have to use RTK / PPK. I hope that answers your question. It can get a bit complicated. Happy flying!
Can you download the Digital Surface Model and provide the client with spot height levels at different points of the map? Perhaps referencing ground control points with known elevation that have been measured with a total station?
Good presentation. Two questions: 1)Could you explain/make a video on how to take GCP with this app? 2) what happens with moving objects (vehicles/people) at the time the pictures are taken?
Great questions... I haven't used GCPs with Measure Ground Control, so I can't speak from experience on that particular topic, but I do believe MGC offers tutorials on how to use GCPs with their software. I can tell you that moving vehicles create "ghosts" on the image, but they are generally not disruptive. Pix4D offers a deghosting feature that is supposed to be able to remedy that but I don't believe it's available through the viewer they have integrated with MGC.
Quick question, have you flown your Phantom 4 using the new AgEagle Aerial software? Since Measure ground control merged with the other company. If so, is it better now or worst?
Hey! I have submitted images to MCG for processing since the merger / buyout by AgEagle and I have noticed more options for what type of mission was flown (real estate, cell tower, solar, etc) so that is definitely an improvement. I have not used, or seen, a new version of the flight app. But, tbh, most of the work I've done lately has been flown in DJI Pilot or DroneDeploy. I will see if there is a new (or updated) flight app and if so I'll make a new video on it. I think that would definitely be a worthwhile endeavor. Take care my friend!
Interesting. I never had to do anything to have the app recognize my drone. My controller was already paired with my drone, of course, and I had regularly used the DJI Go app and Drone Deploy. So once I installed MGC, it just worked. You may want to consult their tech support to see what they say.
Why are you having to view the map, made from drone mapping software, on another very expensive drone mapping software (Pix4D)? Does Measure not offer these capabilities?
Wow, that is really too bad. When MGC first started out it was a great all-around drone mission planning and flight solution. But I believe they just arrived on the scene a bit too late. Other solutions like DroneDeploy and Pix4D already had the professional market kind of cornered. Then they were bought out by Eagle and they became a lot less friendly to the pilots / customers, in my opinion, and I would say it just finally imploded. That's all speculation though, things have changed in my area a lot and the bulk of my drone work now is event / wedding and commercial real estate gigs.
Measure Ground Control has a tiered pay structure (more features cost more money) but there is a free tier (at the time the video was made) that would allow you to create two maps per month.
Yes, if you are using an Android or iOS device with your P4Pv2 controller then you should be able to download Measure Ground Control, or any number of other flight planning software. Do you mind me asking what type of device you are using with your controller?
@@nordin76 I'm not sure. My work process was to download Measure's app from the App Store onto my iPhone. Then I start up the drone as usual, start up the controller (which is connected to my iPhone), then launch the Measure app (without launching DJI apps such as Go4). The Measure app recognizes my drone and flies it without issue. At which point are you running into trouble?

Hi! First of all, thanks for posting the vídeo! How do I use the app If the controller has its own screen, and not my tablet/phone? Thanks in advance!
So I’m guessing this won’t work with the pro plus controller?
That's a good question, and I don't have first hand experience with it BUT, since MGC is a free install, if it was me I would probably give it a try.

Why are you having to view the map, made from drone mapping software, on another very expensive drone mapping software (Pix4D)? Does Measure not offer these capabilities?
MGC has partnered with Pix4D so the Pix4D viewer is "included". You do not have to purchase a separate Pix4D subscription.

Measure Ground Control website indicates that they are ceasing all operations on December 31st of 2024. Do you know why, what’s going on with them?
