    Hello ! I do have the problem with my DSL20h. It’s awful how I can’t use my settings for both channels. If I’m at 12 o’clock my dirty sound is freaking good but my clean tone will be extremely too thin… too much treble.
    Do I have a problem or is it normal ? ☺️

    • @CarstenStepanowicz
      @CarstenStepanowicz  18 часов назад

      Depends on many factors. I think the clean and dirt channel are pretty much balanced on the DSL. If you have the chance, try a different cab OR put an EQ pedal in the loop and even out the frequencies you are missing on the clean channel. I know it‘s an extra step on a additional pedal but hey, if it brings you closer to a good sound then why not? 🙂 Hope that helps!

    great video like always man 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻I got a question for you, i own a mt15 and im very happy but i also wanna get a marshall cause i just love that sound, i played the jvm205h and loved it so that is my current first choice, which marshall smaller amp do you prefer for metal so i can go test more?

    • @CarstenStepanowicz
      @CarstenStepanowicz  10 дней назад +1

      Thanks! Well the DSL 20 of course and if you’re not afraid of using pedals, I‘d check the SC20H. Fantastic pedal platform to tweak your metal tone to your liking. The JVM stuff is awesome though!

    Had the dsl20 now i have the prs. I like them both but i like the prs better. I like to use them both with sd1 to get it more tight. But i see when you playing, it sound allready boosted. Could be the v30? (I use seventy 80 for now). I use les paul with seymour duncan jb so its not the pickups. So maybe i need some v30? 😅

    • @CarstenStepanowicz
      @CarstenStepanowicz  18 дней назад +1

      I run the gain on the amps relatively high. 12 o‘ clock on the PRS and 2 o‘ clock on the DSL. I love the Seventy 80‘s! I don‘t think it‘s the speakers, as the gain level is identical with the V60‘s I‘m also using in the video. 🤘❤️

  • @BazonBlades
    @BazonBlades 16 дней назад +1

    I own both amps. They are so radically different that it is hard to really compare them. I prefer the MT15 because the mid-range is fuller, wider, and more pleasant. Also, the Marshall DSL20 bottom end is a little overwhelming. It's voiced almost like sub lows and gets pretty woofy.
    The MT15 also straight up smokes the DSL20 volume wise.

    • @CarstenStepanowicz
      @CarstenStepanowicz  16 дней назад +1

      Indeed, the PRS is a lot louder than the DSL. Although according to the numbers one might assume it must be the other way around. I think the DSL is less compressed which helps cutting through the mix. That‘s why I cannot clearly say the PRS smokes the DSL. ✌️

      Hey, just caught the video. I have a DSL 40 and the MT 15 I just did the 50 W output transformer conversion and put full size 6L sixes. The thing is as loud as my rocker verb Mark three 100. It’s a beast and bedroom volume is now attainable by not using the amp lol😂😂

    • @ll14m4n
      @ll14m4n 18 дней назад +1

      Incorrect. IRs are for recording only 🤓
      Bedroom amp = Amp + optional reactive load + cabinet, 1x12 or even 2x12.
      The sound of modern hi-gain amps with multi gain stages is mostly in the preamp, so they sound Ok at bedroom volume levels. unlike vintage crap like Plexi or whatever, their "sweet spot" is not as pronounced, no need to crank up and load the power amp. It's much more enjoyable to play into a real speaker 😊

      3500€ and 120 watt for a bedroom amp? I prefer smaller amps with max. 25 watt and adding a loadbox. Or this small ENGL amps with power soak, like Fireball 25 and Ironball.

  • @resistorstudios
    @resistorstudios 13 дней назад

    Any modern high gain amp can be used in the bedroom, they get their distortion from the preamp, not the power amp. Never got that.

    • @Krankenstein
      @Krankenstein 13 дней назад

      But depending on their preamp design, some may sound fizzier than the others and not particularly good at lower volumes. Because for some reasons (don't know why they do this way) EQ frequencies respond differently at different volume levels. So you need to push the volume for balanced bass mids and highs. For example the peavey 6505 mini was sounding awful (fizzy) until volume hit a certain level (which was kinda loud). On the other hand my 100w engl fireball sounds still very good at dead silent levels. Didn't try myself but people say the same for the jvm's. Yet I don't think it would work with Mesa amps

    • @resistorstudios
      @resistorstudios 12 дней назад

      @@Krankenstein I just sold off my Dual Rec MW. Had a few JCM 2000's, 5150s (full size peavey heads, never liked the mini) Uberschall, Modena M60, Blue Voodoo, XXX and a litany of other stuff, never had one that still didnt sound great at bedroom levels, although I agree many sound even better cranked (uberschall...). I dont mind some of the mini heads but the whole idea of the full sized heads being unuseable in the bedroom is somewhat overblown.

    I tend to like American gain at low low volumes compared to a British tone but loud, I can gig a Marshall tone at a lower volume and it still cut through.... BUT Marshall and V30s were never my favourite mix at low volumes, the Jet City (Soldano) and V30 at even quite loud home volume is very unforgiving/bright but at gig volume it's great...Oooohhh next video for you..... I was torn between mt15 and 6505mh and bought the latter last year only because it's much more suitable for my apartment in term of volume level. IMO DSL20 can't hold a candle to mt15, they are incomparable, mt15 is much better.

    As some who has both… it’s not even close… in person hearing them… the Marshall is very boxy… has more fizzle with the gain… I was really let down by the Marshall…. It’s also a very bright amp….

      @CarstenStepanowicz  14 дней назад

      What cab/speakers do you use? With my V60/V30 I think the PRS is boxy and has a weird hump in the 800hz area whereas the DSL has a huge low end. Indeed the DSL is bright as hell. 😅

    • @BB-xn1rw
      @BB-xn1rw 14 дней назад +1

      @ Mesa 12x12v30… the Marshall sound awful, boxy and bright… the mt15 sounds closer to my 95 dual recto than the mini recto. The mt15 you can also run at low volume with no fizzle in the distortion like the Marshall
      Does… the Marshall is great if you want to play 80 speed metal
      I guess, can nail the ride the lighting tone…
