I was at the same concert the very next day, it was transcendent : ) Wasn't the same set-list as this night, they didn't play Bleak on the night I saw no matter how loudly I screamed for it, which gutted me
Sorry for taking a few years to reply to this! Yes, Chuck liked Opeth. He planned to go see their first Tampa show in 2001, but was unwell that day. Sadly, he died just a few months later.
@@The_Karst I mean Death is not a gateway band for most of the metalheads, but if Chuck was still alive and made 10+ albums with Death, Death's name would've taken along with Metallica, Iron Maiden etc.. basically i mean that Death would've been a more famous metal band and a gateway band too for beginner metalheads if it was more established then currently what they are known as. I have met many beginner metalheads who don't know Death and Chuck Schuldiner
2:13 my god
As a new Opeth fan who strongly regrets not listening to them like 10 years ago when i first heard of them I highly appreciate this.
As someone who became a fan during blackwater park I feel lucky I saw them a few times during these eras. This Opeth is definitely never coming back.
peak growls
His high screams are incredible here too
@@kyleroliver2143 Those black metallish high screams were priceless. That was so strong in their early years.
I was there!!!!!!!! First time I saw them live, awesome gig
Thank you once again for posting all these old Opeth videos.
Was at this concert, can't believe its been so long, thanks for posting.

I've always wondered if Chuck Schuldiner from Death liked Opeth, have you heard anything of that sort?

@@The_Karst Ohh i see, i never knew. Thanks!
Death would've been the most respected band in metal community if Chuck was still alive
@@wrath_.99 For sure. I mean, they're already right up there, right?
