Brings back memories from when I visited over 30 years ago. A friend was performing in an Alan Ayckbourn play. I stayed at The Grand and was invited to a showbiz party in the ballroom. Remember there were some chorus girls called 'French Without Dressing', as well as the likes of Jimmy Cricket, The Grumbleweeds and Ali Bongo. That dates me!
Wow! Look at you, mingling with the stars 🤩. We heard that The Grand had gone right downhill, although we haven't stayed there ourselves 🏨, but it's still impressive on the outside! xx
I do love Scarborough but Whitby is my favourite Yorkshire folk are a bit more hardier than us Lancashire folk ( or so my hubby tells me 😂) that’s why they’re out paddle boarding My in laws moved back to Filey when they retired so spent many a holiday over on the East Coast Peasholme Park was a fantastic place to take the kids so glad you featured it Colin My hubby spent his holidays in Bridlington with his grandma He’s from Wath on Dearne originally & remembers as a child a glass of milk & a club biscuit from the boarding house 😊 Ironically his Parents ( the in laws ) bought & ran a boarding house in Blackpool so had the benefit of both coasts Loved this video Colin & Tim It’s brought back so many memories
Hi Colin and Tim Oh wow you brought back memories here i was last in Scarborough in the very early 80's. To me besides a few new flats etc it has not changed a bit, and seeing Peasholm Park really did it for me. When you guys were in Blackpool the same time as us those Quad bikes were there also, i hate the noisy things spoiling the place. Me and here that must be obeyed have said we must have a weekend here, and as it is so dog friendly will take our pooches to. Thanks so much for the informative tour of this great place, love all your vlogs. Chris.
Great to see you guys in Scarbs, shame you missed out the Castle, Anne Bronte's grave and the Italian Gardens (huge gardens just above the spa). You really should have gone into the Grand Hotel and you say there is no night life, but what about the restaurants (Michelin star one too), loads of bars and a few clubs. We go often, amazing place with something for everyone, not pretentious, or pricey!
Thank you for your lovely comment John, and we will definitely be going back and having a night stay in Scarborough. I was thinking about the grand. Thanks for recommending the Italian gardens we will visit there and the castle on our next visit. We did see some lovely restaurants on our way back to the Park n Ride bus stop. There are definitely more places for us to explore 👍
26:00 I've seen people jump in the old lake before during concerts 😂 I'm glad it's been filled in because it means people can actually get close to the stage and improve the atmosphere
Very relaxing video chatty guys glad you had a good day my friend from university worked at that park with the dragon peddle boats - a long time ago - well fairy long - hmm Rick Astley seems like a nice man but I couldn't name a single song other than never gonna give you up of course. Scarborough seems to get some fairly big names playing there. Feel inspired to visit myself now 🫛🥜🌞🌆
Well done lads yet again. I too have fond memories back in the 60s and 70s. YES. I guess the scene will be there eventually. Back to Leeds and BPool in the mean time. Did you drive up in the new car ? Lovelly film for troubled times in UK. God Bless you both. Charles x
Scarborough is much older than the vikings. There was a settlement on the Castle Hill in prehistoric times. The Romans built a signal station there in the 4th century. Harald Hardrada & Tostig burnt the town in 1066. The Castle began in the 11th century. It became the first seaside resort in the 1620's with the discovery of the mineral Spa water. They are called Lobster pots, for crabs & lobsters, still used. Wonderful Filey, land of the dead! Peaseholm Park is nearly as good as it was 50 years ago. The small ponds above the waterfalls were used for model boats etc. Elton John played the Open Air Theatre when it was restored in 2010. The theatre first opened in the 1930's. It closed in the mid 70's after a couple of wet summers. It used to do Gilbert & Sullivan operetas. You missed the most important thing in Scarborough the Castle! There are loads of bars & clubs, it's very lively at night!
Hello Daniel. Thank you for your message. Next time we go to Scarborough we're taking you with us! 😆 We didn't have enough time to visit the castle last time we were in Scarborough but we'll make sure we go there next time. 🙏❤️👍
I didn’t know that the water surrounding the stage had gone I saw the king and I musical at the open air theatre and Hannah arrived on a boat with all the pomp and ceremony has she did in the film Ray.

Hi Elaine. We think you're probably right. There is plenty for young families but we only saw the funfair and the jungle climbing thing for teenagers in Scarborough 🩷👍🥓
@@thechatterguys I always take my kids to Blackpool cos there’s loads to do I know it’s a reputation it is what it is but I love it like you do we stop in boulevard and go in pleasure beach I like to do stuff on my hols and I get bored in Scarborough but I do still love it
no you cant and shouldnt get a fur baby when your both working and away alot...we wont be getting another one after our last fur baby Brax left this side of life..he passed away on valentines day two yrs ago now xxx
Hi Nigel. Nearly all the shops and bars had signs to welcome dogs. Scarborough seems to be very pretty friendly. You can't take dogs on the beach after 1 May, though 🐕🐕🐕
Hello Lynne. The sea front at Scarborough is quite flat and that's where a lot of the main attractions are but there are some very steep roads right behind the promenade which are challenging for most people. We think you're probably right ❤️🌞
Ive never been to Scarborough..it looks a very nice place...cleaner than Blackpool....I dont agree with fur babies not being allowed to run on the beach cept for certain times.....Humans make more mess!!!
Scarborough is lovely, Carol. We think Blackpool is pretty clean, although Scarborough doesn't have as many dilapidated buildings as Blackpool,m 🏖️🦀🩴 xxx

Ironically his Parents ( the in laws ) bought & ran a boarding house in Blackpool so had the benefit of both coasts
Loved this video Colin & Tim
It’s brought back so many memories
Tim has the best of both worlds just about being a Yorkshire lad but having been brought up only 2 streets away from Lancashire
We're so glad that you enjoyed the video, LVP, and that it brought back some happy memories 🥰🌞🚋
Lovely video. Haven't been to Scarborough since I was a wee lad. I vaguely remember going on the funicular railway 🙂👍
Glad you enjoyed the video, Mark. It was lovely to see the funicular so well maintained 🚋

I was in this splendid city in 1989 and 1990. Guest of my dear cousins, who now live in Filey and have a restaurant, Ristorante Pizzeria Bella Italia
Hello Salvatore. Thank you for your comment 🇮🇹 ❤️

Thanks for your comment, Ray. Yes, it's only concrete in front of the stage now. We bet it looked spectacular with the lake there instead 😯

Hi Tony! Colin doesn't remember ever going to Glam n Glitz 🤩
Ah, I didn’t know if it was the lgbt cabaret bar he remembered visiting, it’s the only one that I know has ever been in Scarborough!
I THINK A STICK OF ROCK IS THE MOST BROUGHT BACK MOMENTO FROM A SEASIDE TOWN.
We think you're probably right 👍 Michael!
I grew up in Scarborough 😊
What a great place to live, Richard! 😁
