Great vlog of The Way, brings back many wonderful memories. There are many videos of the Camino Francés, but I like this one especially for its focus on the many different people you encounter along the way. You have shown what it looks like to walk through the countryside and mountains, the communal meals and albergue experiences, the meet ups in cafés and pop-up stops (small paradise moments in the middle of nowhere), some historic monuments in towns and villages, the many smiles that often accompany the pilgrim's journey (despite the various hardships of long distance day-after-day walking), the feeling of community and sharing, the sunrises and sunsets, the types of terrain and paths that are walked. Excellent editing and choice of music, congratulations David, not only on achieving your aim of walking the Camino, but on having an open heart and mind to engage with your fellow pilgrims along the journey and share it here, thank you. Buen Camino
Thanks so much Mark. Yeah you got it-it was truly the people and the feeling of community and sharing that made the Camino for me. I miss the random encounters and the meetups in cafés, and I'm trying to incorporate more of that in my daily life whether it's at work or with friends & family. Again, thanks for your kind words, and I'm happy that you enjoyed it. Buen camino and happy 2020!
While I was recovering from amputation, I was thinking about walking on the camino with my new prosthesis. One day, I will make it happen. Thanks for sharing this video. :)
Wow I am so glad to hear you are thinking about this. I just got a hit of inspiration. Towards the end, there was a film crew filming a group of 10 people with limited mobility complete the Camino. It was inspiring to see the community effort. Check out the documentary "I'll Push You" if you get the chance (great inspirational documentary about the Camino). I can't wait for you to get out there, let me know how I could help!

Beautifully done and edited. Great souvenir when I hiked it back in 2009. I have to say that there were fewer pilgrims back then. I've also done 600 km on the Puy Way in France and last year did the Portuguese Way from Porto to Santiago with my son. Congrats David on this trek, I'm sure that there will be more to come!
Thanks Alvin. Oh wow back in 2009...I can imagine there being fewer people (before Instagram). I plan to do the Portuguese Way as well one day...never heard of the Puy Way- do you recommend that one?
@@hidavidwen The Puy Way starts in Puy-en-Velay ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Puy-en-Velay )and finishes in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, 720 km. Ask anyone from France and they will say that they prefer this one to the Camino de Santiago (Camino Francés), mainly because of the scenery and language barrier. Personally, I loved the Meseta in Spain, while the French grew very tired of it. It passes through some impressive medieval village and towns and the Aubrac plateau. When we slept in Conques, I told my wife, I feel like I'm in Hogwarts. There's a lot less of pilgrim, it is also less international and the same can be said for road side cafés and signage. It is also called the GR 65 (grandes randonnées - aka great trails of Europe). Better to reserve the gîtes (albergue) ahead of time.

Conhecer realmente um pais é caminhar pelas pequenas cidades do interior. Casas, ruas, monumentos, campos, animais, alimentos, pessoas ...
Thanks so much, Anders. I shot this with my iPhone 7 (handheld) and put together using the LumaFusion app on my iPad. I hope you get to do this after, it will be very special!
Hi@@estellagutierrez795 , were you planning on going in 2020? Yeah it is so unfortunate (this Corona), and I hope you will make it out there soon. Thank you and you will get there soon enough, take care and buen camino!
I walked the Camino Frances in July 2019. It was no doubt the most amazing trip I have ever experienced. Every time I want to tell people about it I find it impossible to find the words to describe it properly. It's simply magical. This video gave me tears in my eyes - thank you for capturing a good portion of the trip, allowing me to relive it a little!
Hi Mathilde - thanks for sharing and so happy to hear your words. It was an amazing experience, right? Can you believe it's been a year already? I hope you are doing well and continue having positive spirits!
Congrats to you and your Camino family. Exquiste cinematography, beautifully edited. Over the last 10 years, my wife has walked parts of the Camino 3 times for a total of 1,600 km. Now in her 70s she's stopped walking but still does free presentations to interested groups, usually in churches. I assist her presentations by providing A/V support. With your permission, we would like to include a couple of short clips from your film, of course, with attribution. Thanks in advance.
Hi Mark. First off, thanks so much for your kind words-I really appreciate it. Second, wow. Your wife is amazing and inspiring. Yes, I would be extremely happy to assist her in her presentations. Please use the clips and please send a big hello and buen camino to your wife!
What a wonderful video. I really enjoyed it, wonderful scenery, lovely villages, towns and cities and great company. I have been walking various caminos every year since 2011, until this year. I have walked sections of Camino Frances 5 times, including walking from StJPdeP to SdeC once. I had booked to walk from Burgos to Sahagun in April, but unfortunately I had to cancel. I am so saddened about how tough it has been for so many people in recent times. I hope that things will continue to improve and that the camino routes can open up again, for the benefit of everyone, locals and pilgrims. How I love the camino, particularly meeting people from around the world.
Wow thanks so much for your comment. Now that I've done my 1st time, I understand why people go back again and again. Meeting people from around the world. I also hope for the best...for the Camino, the locals, and everyone around the world in general. I hope you take care and buen camino!
i made my camino in the same days, just started august 28 and arrived in santiago september 27...i saw a lot of videos about the camino, expecially the french way, and this is one of the best i've ever seen. buen camino peregrino!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words. Wow almost around the same time, congratulations and buen camino! Also, I hope you are doing well and take care.
@@FABM27 Hi -- yes people do start in April. I've heard that the weather can be cool and rainy. Days with rain. Days with clouds. Days with sun and clear skies. So I suggest you bring clothing for rain, for sun, and for clouds...and you will be fine and enjoy =)
As a Camino RUclips channel, it's great to see Camino video have so many people interested. You have really helped to spread the word about the pilgrimage with a great video!
Thanks Jeremiah. It was such a wonderful experience, and I hope more people are able to experience it. It's great to see what you're doing in spreading the word and guiding people as well. Buen camino and hope you take care! - David
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I'm happy that you enjoyed the video...but the experience itself is so much better! I hope you make it one day, when are you thinking you will do it?
@@hidavidwen well its my 50th in October and I was thinking of trying to do it then, if things normalize. I only have a week to walk though (maybe ten days total with the travel) so I would have to do an abbreviated trip. I think something is better than nothing -- and to at least get a taste of it.
We are going to be walking in September this year and this video really got me SO excited to start our adventure. Thank you for posting this bc it showed what I can expect.
Thanks for your comments and kind words. I also think about that with social media nowadays...I hope it doesn't but if it does, I think the future will adapt and the hope is...it will still bring the same type joy and fulfillment to even more people. Take care.
Glad you made it. I respect people who record their camino journey because I know how hard it is even just walking the way. Walked the camino in 2017. During the trip, I met wonderful people, After coming back to my country, I got baptised. Now I've been learning violin to take it with me on my second try.
I enjoyed watching your video! Great job capturing the Camino!! I also like what you said about how it started as an adventure and ending up being a time to reflex on your life. The Camino is your Camino, and you make it, what ever you want it to be, but if you don’t take advantage of it for personal growth, it’s really a wasted opportunity! Thanks for bringing back some great memories! Buen Camino...
I walked the Camino exactly one year before you! Amazing to see all the paces I've been to. The memories are flooding in :) I'm dreaming of walking again soon even though it doesn't look like it will be possible this year (maybe next?). This video helps cure my longing for a moment, thank you for posting.

A wonderful montage of a wonderful experience, one that I made a year before you and was going to repeat this spring! I'm in the process of making day-by-day clips now, to remind me of the glorious steps along the Way. Until we can all walk again, revelling in lovely films like this is the next best thing!
Hi John - thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it! Yeah it was a wonderful experience, right? Glad that we have these memories and clips to look back on...and to look forward to! Take care!
A great video not only captures images, it inspires the heart and mind. This is one of those immersive videos which truly captures the spiritual element of the Camino de Santiago which is clearly perceived as one watches from the beginning to the end. The cinematography and editing have a professional feel yet are candid and uplifting. My second comment after viewing this video thrice because it really touches the viewer. Buen Camino. Stay safe during Covid as you journey to the field of stars!
Thanks again Kenneth. For your kind words and it motivates me to continue connecting and creating. It really means a lot to me, especially during this time. You too, buen camino, and stay safe! - David
Many fond memories returned when I watched your video. I walked 2300 km from my home in Zurich in 2002. During my first month, until Le-Puy-en-Velay in France, I met just two other pilgrims. And these days the Camino Frances seems a lot more busy.
Hi Marc - wow 2300 km. I can imagine how much less crowded it was back then. But glad to hear that the journey/experience itself seems to be magical whether it be in 2019, 2002, or 1972. Take care! - David

Thanks for sharing David, great video and really enjoyed it . I've walked the Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela and it gives me the inspiration to take up the challenge to walk from St Jean Pied de Port, France.
You're welcome and happy to hear it gave you the inspiration. And thank you for the kind words. I hope you will do it from St. Jean (it's beautiful over the Pyrenees). Best, David
Great memories, finished April 2019, well done. "If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it's not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That's why it's your path". Joseph Campbell
Thanks Pedro! Almost a year ago, congrats! Love Joseph Campbell. Here's another one that is a favorite and a theme of my Camino: "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” Buen camino and happy 2020!
Hi Dimitri - hah that's a good way of describing it! But you're correct in many aspects. You walk for 7-8 hours a day...then sit down to a communal meal with friends from around the world...sleep...and repeat. It's quite simple...but amazing at the same time.
I am also thinking to do Camino at least once in my life, at least part of it... But I know I can be difficult person sometimes, I don't like crowds and like my privacy (doesn't mean I'm bad or unfriendly, actually I am very caring and love to help people), so I wouldn't like to sleep in those hostels with so many people, and I would like to do it in my own pace, without any plans like today we have to do 20 and next day 40km... I like to be independent and my own boss. I don't say no to meet interesting people and make friends... I call this idea "my private Camino". I wonder if would be possible to "do it my way", but definitely I'll try one day 😊
Aw thanks for the comment Marilia. Wow almost 2 years ago...I'm glad it helped bring back some memories. Hope we can get out there again soon. Take care, David

Very nice video. But at 3.30 at the wine fountain - behave yourself, don't be a greedy bastard and fill up an entire bottle of wine. The idea is to get a sip for yourself, and as it says on the sign, if you want to take wine with you, buy a bottle.

What is amazing to me is how deeply ingrained in my imagination is my Camino. Watching your video, I kept saying, "I know that albergue! I stayed there! Oh, there's that cafe! That restaurant! I know right where that is!" And as the video progressed, it became more personal. "There's the very spot where ___ helped me when I was exhausted and ready to quit. There's the spot where I a stranger shared some of his bread with me. There's the spot where I..." And by the end, I was weeping when we walked into Santiago. I was no longer watching a video; I was on your journey with you. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

I walked the Camino in 2018, I meet with my wonderful wife on the first day at the breakfast table. Thanks for the memorys😊
Oh wow that is amazing to hear Sebastian! I love hearing stories like these on the camino :) you’re welcome
My Granddaughter is into her 6th day of the Camino heading for Los Arco's .!!! Following her adventure every day as she keeps us updated on her pilgrimage..God keep her safe.!!!
Conhecer realmente um pais é caminhar pelas pequenas cidades do interior. Casas, ruas, monumentos, campos, animais, alimentos, pessoas ...
What a masterpiece a truly wonderful video I just gave you your 1,000 like!
Wow thank you so much! It means a lot to me that you enjoyed the video, happy 2020!
Nice video, I will do this after corona 😄 did y shoot just handhold or?
Thanks so much, Anders. I shot this with my iPhone 7 (handheld) and put together using the LumaFusion app on my iPad. I hope you get to do this after, it will be very special!
Now as soon as Corona dies I'll be on my way it sure messed me up 😩😭so happy you Did It 😀buen Camino
Hi@@estellagutierrez795 , were you planning on going in 2020? Yeah it is so unfortunate (this Corona), and I hope you will make it out there soon. Perhaps it will be an even MORE special experience for you...given what you (and all of us) are currently going through right now.
Thanks for including your budget for the trip, super helpful. Looks to have been a fantastic journey filled with many kindred souls.
Yeah it's a rough estimate, but I tracked everything to the penny. I need to ask you about your PCT itinerary some time =)
Congrats to you and your Camino family.
Your video is beautiful, it made me really emotional and reminded me of my very own Camino. Lovely!
Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear that. It was a great experience and glad we can celebrate together. Take care!
Precioso el camino ❤️,preciosa España ❤️
@@hidavidwen when is the earliest one can start? Can it be done in April?
@@FABM27 Hi -- yes people do start in April. I've heard that the weather can be cool and rainy. Days with rain. Days with clouds. Days with sun and clear skies. So I suggest you bring clothing for rain, for sun, and for clouds...and you will be fine and enjoy =)
Beautiful. Ill do it some day, maybe
Sounds great! Well I hope you make it out there one day. Take care! - David
- David
I love watching these videos. I am planning my first Camino in 2025, with my wife and am deep in research.
Buen camino!
Amazing video. You captured the essence of the camino in just 15 minutes. I will do this one day.
Oh I’m so excited for you Laura! You’re welcome and buen camino, have a great time :)
I’m planning to leave for my first Camino solo May 18, 2020. I’d love to talk to you about it!
Hey Cameron, that's awesome! And coming up. Sure, how can I help? =)
@羅德夫 You're right. Everything is closed right now. I hope the situation becomes better soon for everyone around the world. 🙏
Sure right now its not possible but May 18th. is 6 weeks away, things could change. Lets hope so
Sadly this fantastic video will make the Camino even more over crowded. Still a great video, congratulations.
Thank you so much. Wow that is very inspiring to hear. I'm also trying to do more things in my life now after the Camino. Buen camino!
Parabéns pelo trabalho !!! Também iniciei uma pagina de peregrinações... se puder dê uma força! BARISTA PEREGRINO
Obrigado e espero que você esteja bem! Buen camino peregrino!
Stunning! I will watch again. Makes me long to get back real soon.
Thanks so much! Yeah I am also thinking about my next trip...perhaps another Camino coming up =)
Me ha encantado tu video, muy emocionante, gracias por compartirlo.
Muchas gracias! Si fue una experiencia emocional y estoy muy muy agradecido. Feliz 2020!
Que vídeo espetacular 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Talvez meu sonho se concretize em 2025
Buen camino!

Aw thanks for your comment Emma. Whenever you walk it again, I’m sure you will have an amazing time. I also look forward to walking it again one day too. buen camino and take care!
Amazing video David!!!! Can’t wait to do my first Camino next year!!
Thanks Tony! Oh wow nice, you will love it. Buen camino! - David
Great job on this video!!! It is so uplifting during these difficult times in the world today. We all need to do a Camino and treasure every moment.
Thank you Ken, I really appreciate it =) Yeah you are so right...we need to treasure every moment in life...you never know when it will be taken away from you. Glad to know this helped you a bit and hope you take care.
What a great record David, that really captures what the Camino is about.
Thanks Rob. Wow I checked out some of your videos, very informative and comprehensive. I hope you continue sharing this to the world =)
@@hidavidwen Thanks David. It's fun to make them.
Simple and clean edit! Made this video enjoyable to watch 🤗 I love hiking. This kind of adventure sparked my interest. 😊
Thanks so much for the kind words =) I also love hiking. I thought this would just be a long hike...but it turned out to be a long hike filled with lots of connection and community...and coffee =) I hope you go!
Que LINDO e emocionante. Um sonho que habita meus sonhos desde criança. OBRIGADO
I have watched your video several times... one of the best... Can’t wait for for my time on the Camino (Sept-Oct 2020). Thank you fo sharing ... Cheers
Thanks a lot Steve! I cant believe it's been 3 months post-Camino...it goes by fast...but those 30 days there seemed to stretch on forever. Wow Sept-Oct 2020 is coming up...you will have an amazing time! Buen camino =)

Take care!
The only problem with this video is that multiple presses of the Thumbs Up button only register once.
- David
Caminante no hay camino,se hace camino al andar.el ser humano es amor !!
Thank you David, I truly enjoyed your video, it brought back many unforgettable memories. Buen Camino friend!
Thanks so much Ruben, really appreciate it. I hope we keep these memories alive for many years to come. Buen camino and happy new year friend!
@@hidavidwen Happy New Year and keep on walking toward Him !!
Take care! - David

I tried to walk to Santigo once more in 2016, but had to take a break when I fell ill and later had to abandon after reaching the Camino del Norte. In case you're interested - information and pics are on:

Me and my boyfriend did half of North Way Camino de Santiago on June 2019. Amazing time! Amazing people ! Amazing views !
Oh wow, the North Way? That's something on my list as well one day. Yes I'm sure it was...amazing time, people, and views =) Buen camino!
Too crowded
@@margaretmellis9332 You are talking about the Francés, right?
so beautiful, thanks David, I love watching stuff like that, definitely inspiring, well done
Hi Jiri - thanks so much for your kind words. I'm glad it resonated with you and was inspiring. Take care of yourself! - David
I will make it when all this pandemic is over, I'm ready' buen camino.
Yes Carlos! You'll enjoy it when you go, buen camino!
Best, David
Santiago is lovely nature great freak all the best 🤞🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
It is lovely indeed! The nature. The people. The towns. I miss it a lot. Thanks Satyawan and happy new year!

Is this tour about gourmet eating followed by several hours of walking it off and then gorging again?
Hi Dimitri - hah that's a good way of describing it! But you're correct in many aspects. You walk for 7-8 hours a day...then sit down to a communal meal with friends from around the world...sleep...and repeat. It's quite simple...but amazing at the same time.
@@hidavidwen is that the point?
I am also thinking to do Camino at least once in my life, at least part of it... But I know I can be difficult person sometimes, I don't like crowds and like my privacy (doesn't mean I'm bad or unfriendly, actually I am very caring and love to help people), so I wouldn't like to sleep in those hostels with so many people, and I would like to do it in my own pace, without any plans like today we have to do 20 and next day 40km... I like to be independent and my own boss. I don't say no to meet interesting people and make friends... I call this idea "my private Camino". I wonder if would be possible to "do it my way", but definitely I'll try one day 😊
Emocionante, que llorera. Este año hice una parte con un buen amigo y fue increíble. Buen camino.
Muchas gracias y espero que estes bien. Buen camino!
Thanks!!! I did the Camino in May 2019, and this was the best memory in images I've ever had since! I found myself walking. Thank you so much!

Fantastic video David! We were on the exact same time line and are even in this video 😁 What a treat to see so many of the faces we were walking along with. Thank you for putting this together and sharing it for all to see!
Thanks for the kind words, Vanessa! And WOW! Where are you in this video? What a small world but what a great time, yeah?
@@hidavidwen At 1:47 I am in a teal jacket on the right side of vid talking to my husband. I might be in the back ground numerous other places because so many of the moments you have, I remember the exact people and places you have captured. For example, in Larrasoana, I was sitting at the next table over with a group while you were at your table. It's wild to see this all from your lens and recognize it. What a treat!
Que bonito ¡

Hola Maria! Que suerte! Sí me encanta mucho y me gustaria regresar un dia =)
Very enjoyable video. Steady camera, good angles and pans. You really captured the spirit of the camino, from the ordinary moments on the trails to the camraderie of your camino family. Reminded me of my camino. You really captured the thrill of arriving in SDC and waiting in the square to welcome others. Can't wait to do it again one day. Until then I will just watch this over and over again.
Thank you so much =) It's been a year since arriving in Santiago for me and so much has changed indeed. But the memories and lessons have remained and have helped me out during these times. I hope you take care.
Great video David!! I was on the Camino about a month after you, so very similar weather, and sights that took me back there in an instant. Want to do it again!!
Thanks so much Dean! The weather was fantastic and I would love to do it again during that timeframe too. I hope we get the chance!

Just saw this and thanks for your comment Niamh, it lights up my day especially during this time. I hope you are doing well and Ultreia =)
Short, sweet, simple - not preachy or pretentious - a great insight into all the basic facets of the Camino - Excellent!
Thank you Hamish!
Very nice video. But at 3.30 at the wine fountain - behave yourself, don't be a greedy bastard and fill up an entire bottle of wine. The idea is to get a sip for yourself, and as it says on the sign, if you want to take wine with you, buy a bottle.
David - one of the best video documentaries I have ever seen on youtube. You have captured the essence of the journey. I hope to make it there in a couple of years.

I'm glad it reminded you of your journey! It's a beautiful walk. Buen camino and hope you are well =) -David
I’m so glad to hear the video helped you relive your experience in some way :) It’s a beautiful journey and glad that we can both connect via this shared experience. Buen camino to you and thanks for the kind words!
Congratulations 👍 very nice video 👍 big like for you 👍
