Great vlog of The Way, brings back many wonderful memories. There are many videos of the Camino Francés, but I like this one especially for its focus on the many different people you encounter along the way. You have shown what it looks like to walk through the countryside and mountains, the communal meals and albergue experiences, the meet ups in cafés and pop-up stops (small paradise moments in the middle of nowhere), some historic monuments in towns and villages, the many smiles that often accompany the pilgrim's journey (despite the various hardships of long distance day-after-day walking), the feeling of community and sharing, the sunrises and sunsets, the types of terrain and paths that are walked. Excellent editing and choice of music, congratulations David, not only on achieving your aim of walking the Camino, but on having an open heart and mind to engage with your fellow pilgrims along the journey and share it here, thank you. Buen Camino
Thanks so much Mark. Yeah you got it-it was truly the people and the feeling of community and sharing that made the Camino for me. I miss the random encounters and the meetups in cafés, and I'm trying to incorporate more of that in my daily life whether it's at work or with friends & family. Again, thanks for your kind words, and I'm happy that you enjoyed it. Buen camino and happy 2020!
While I was recovering from amputation, I was thinking about walking on the camino with my new prosthesis. One day, I will make it happen. Thanks for sharing this video. :)
Wow I am so glad to hear you are thinking about this. I just got a hit of inspiration. Towards the end, there was a film crew filming a group of 10 people with limited mobility complete the Camino. It was inspiring to see the community effort. Check out the documentary "I'll Push You" if you get the chance (great inspirational documentary about the Camino). I can't wait for you to get out there, let me know how I could help!
David Wen Thanks for your reply. I will definitely check out the documentary. I am just curious whether you are considering to post more footage from your previous trip.
Hey @@rollwithme7943! How are you doing? Sorry for the late reply as it's been quite hectic with all this going around, and I just thought of you. I just posted a new video about the Camino detailing all my costs & expenses with some pics & videos about food & albergues (accommodation). I come from a Finance background so I tracked everything via spreadsheets. May or may not help you but just thought to share with you. Let me know if you have any questions now or in the future! Video is here: ruclips.net/video/MzdKVJ4I49k/видео.html Take care, David
I walked the camino 2008. I got tears of joy in my eyes again, when I saw your movie. Now I am sure, I will walk it again next year! Thanks a lot, David!
I was on the camino 4 times now, and right now - due to the worldwide situation - I am trying to keep up good memories of the way. Your video helped me a lot and in the end I even could cry some tears of happines, because I felt the pure joy of reaching Santiago again. Thank you very much for this beautiful video! Ultreia!
Thank you Manuel for your beautiful words. I am so happy to hear that. Me too..I am so happy that I completed this last year and it brings back a lot of good memories. I hope this worldwide situation will end soon for all and we can get back on the Camino and with life. Ultreai!
I completed the Camino in 2015 and plan to do it this September. How difficult is it now with the Virus? Are you still able to easily find food and pensions?
Precioso y emocionante!! Mi padre tiene 13 compostelanas. 13 caminos completados. El camino francés varias veces, el portugués, todos...y desde Sevilla, desde Triana, ruta de la plata hasta Santiago. Tiene 86 años. Y con pandemia, el año pasado, cuando se pudo, regresó a Santiago para ver a “su amigo”.
I walked the Camino Frances in July 2019. It was no doubt the most amazing trip I have ever experienced. Every time I want to tell people about it I find it impossible to find the words to describe it properly. It's simply magical. This video gave me tears in my eyes - thank you for capturing a good portion of the trip, allowing me to relive it a little!
Hi Mathilde - thanks for sharing and so happy to hear your words. It was an amazing experience, right? Can you believe it's been a year already? I hope you are doing well and continue having positive spirits!
My Granddaughter is into her 6th day of the Camino heading for Los Arco's .!!! Following her adventure every day as she keeps us updated on her pilgrimage..God keep her safe.!!!
Glad you made it. I respect people who record their camino journey because I know how hard it is even just walking the way. Walked the camino in 2017. During the trip, I met wonderful people, After coming back to my country, I got baptised. Now I've been learning violin to take it with me on my second try.
David. I did the camino 10 years ago now. It was a life changing experience. You never walk alone. Thanks for sharing with us. People you meet along the way are amazing. Lost a couple toe nails. I took rest days in Leon, Burgos, and Santiago. Completed the journey in just 28 days. The camino gives you a new perspective on life for sure. Buen camino.
Hi Benny, thanks so much for your comment! Wow 10 years ago. I also made rest days in Leon and Santiago and agree that the people you meet along the way are amazing. It's only been a few months for me post-camino but so happy to hear that it still resonates with you...10 years later! Buen camino =)
Hey David! Not sure if you remember me, but my friend Emma and I walked with you a few days. We walked with Barb from Canada for a large part of the last half. Just found this video and it took me right back. Thank you so much for capturing all these moments, I love being able to show my family!
Hi Sabine and happy new year! Yes I remember! What a small world it is (especially with the internet). So glad it brought back some good moments (we need a lot of it nowadays). Hope you're well and doing safe! - David
Congratulations. You had captured the essence of the Camino in these images: Friendship, fraternity and spirituality. I did the same way in September 2015 in 34 days. Ultreia.
Thanks Marcelo! Wow so 4 years ago and you got that right...friendship, fraternity, and spirituality. It's amazing how much can happen in 30ish days...even more memories and connections than years could bring. Buen camino and Ultreia =)
i made my camino in the same days, just started august 28 and arrived in santiago september 27...i saw a lot of videos about the camino, expecially the french way, and this is one of the best i've ever seen. buen camino peregrino!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words. Wow almost around the same time, congratulations and buen camino! Also, I hope you are doing well and take care.
@@FABM27 Hi -- yes people do start in April. I've heard that the weather can be cool and rainy. Days with rain. Days with clouds. Days with sun and clear skies. So I suggest you bring clothing for rain, for sun, and for clouds...and you will be fine and enjoy =)
As a Camino RUclips channel, it's great to see Camino video have so many people interested. You have really helped to spread the word about the pilgrimage with a great video!
Thanks Jeremiah. It was such a wonderful experience, and I hope more people are able to experience it. It's great to see what you're doing in spreading the word and guiding people as well. Buen camino and hope you take care! - David
Many fond memories returned when I watched your video. I walked 2300 km from my home in Zurich in 2002. During my first month, until Le-Puy-en-Velay in France, I met just two other pilgrims. And these days the Camino Frances seems a lot more busy.
Hi Marc - wow 2300 km. I can imagine how much less crowded it was back then. But glad to hear that the journey/experience itself seems to be magical whether it be in 2019, 2002, or 1972. Take care! - David
@@hidavidwen I tried to walk to Santigo once more in 2016, but had to take a break when I fell ill and later had to abandon after reaching the Camino del Norte. In case you're interested - information and pics are on: Facebook: walter.jakobcamino
I was walking the Way on 9/11/2001 Todays pandemic is mimicking some of the feelings I had then. This video brought all the tears back, yet it brought back the joy of the walk and the pilgrims also. I learned deep in my soul what a pilgrimage meant that day.
Hi Jane - thank you so much for stopping by. Wow, I cannot imagine walking on 9/11/2001, but it's amazing to hear that almost 20 years later...this pilgrimage still resonates with you. It's only been 6 months for me...and it brings back a lot of good memories and lessons to reflect on especially during such times. Can I ask you what the Camino has meant to you these past 20 years? Hope you take care, Jane!
@@hidavidwen Wow, this is quite the question, and I'm not sure I even know how it has affected me for 20 years. I was raised a Catholic, but fell away from religion in pursuit of science, so at first this trip was just a hike. But arriving in Compostella and attending mass where my name was read off, was an otherworldly experience. And people were so kind, asking after my family and being consoling. I couldnt get home which is anyones first instinct. So I continued to hike. And then things in general got back to "normal". I stayed in Europe for another few weeks, and then resumed life at home. I think I realized that ordinariness is such a blessing, time to walk and reflect is a gift, meeting people of many countries who give me perspective on my American life is an amazing joy. And I realized that we humans are in this experience of life together. Fast forward to today, and the pandemic, and again one must realize that some things do not respect your station in life, wealth, status, job or accomplishments. The virus can take anyone, we are all vulnerable, all pilgrims, all equals and therefore need each other. I needed comfort whilst in Spain, and I need it now. And also I have given comfort, to refugees, to neighbors, to strangers, to the "least of us". That is what I think I relearned 20 years ago, and continually relearn. We need each other. Oddly, I learned this as part of my church as I grew up, but continued the philosophy as a spirituality as I aged. Yikes, this was hard to try to consolidate my thoughts in an answer to your question. I feel as if I have only touched on the surface effect that this walk had on my life. Thank you, you have really made me search deeply into my soul for answers to your question. Cheers to you, and may you have many more long distance walks. They are magic. I guess I should say that I have walked many long distance paths in the US, Europe, Asia, SE Asia, and somehow the simple act of putting one foot in front of another is a religious experience.
@@jojanew Wow thank you so much for sharing, I've read this 2x already. I'm so grateful to hear your reflections of the Camino and life in the past 20 years. "And I realized that we humans are in this experience of life together." That is something that I've realized as well...and I've learned so much from people from all walks of life so far that have enriched my life or changed my perspective. Thank you, Jane.
Thank you so much for preparing and posting this wonderful video. My wife walked the Camino France alone in 2013 while I was working and after hearing all about her experiences, I've so wanted to walk it myself but not yet had the opportunity to do so. Your video has re-lit my fire. Thankyou xxxx
Thanks so much Lance for your kind words and glad it re-lit your fire. Wow 2013, I can imagine she also had a great experience. I hope you may get the opportunity to go one day, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Buen camino and happy new year!
Loved this. I walked the Camino from August 28 to Sep 29 2019 and this brought back so many wonderful memories. The Camino changed my life; I hope you found it live changing too. Thank you for making this film.
Thank you so much! Wow we probably missed each other by a few days! It was a great experience, and I'm still thinking about the memories and lessons. Can I ask how it changed your life? Take care!
@@hidavidwen I suffered from low esteem and I wanted to know, as a solo walker, whether I would be seen and whether I'd leave footprints. I met so many wonderful people and had so many incredible conversations on my journey. On my last night in Santiago, I had a meal with people who had become really close to me. At the end of the meal I was told that I had been seen and that I'd left huge footprints. We hugged and cried. One of the most emotional and happiest nights of my life. I truly wish I'd taken this journey when I was a much younger man.
@@sdcareyuk Wow thank you so much for sharing. Sounds very familiar-these wonderful people and incredible conversations. It was incredible to just share and be open in such a safe space (the Camino)...I am trying to mimic and recreate that in "society," but I've found it really hard to do...
One of the best Camino videos around. Not too personal, not too impersonal; just right. Really gives the sense of the Camino as I remember it (SJPP to Santiago 2019)
Love love love this video, David! I walked it in 2009 and was in tears watching this. What an amazing experience! So glad I can relive it through your video. One of the most amazing things I’ve ever done.

Preciosos vídeo..enhorabuena..uno de los mas bonitos que he visto.y que mas refleja lo que significa el camino..gracias x compartir..y x cierto..el final..emocionante..
What a wonderful short film! A video that summarizes only the essentials without clutter... Great scenery, lovely villages, beautiful people, tasty food... And simple yet profound, very short but enough... I walked along Camino Frances a few years ago as well. At that time, it was never easy for me to walk long hours every day, but I came back to Korea with many wonderful memories. I've often missed there since then. Last month, I finally decided to go back there in a year or two. I've just started studying Spanish to make my determination clear. Also I'm writing my plan here to cheer up and support myself. Lastly, maybe I should practice walking often. My next camino, here I go!!!
What is amazing to me is how deeply ingrained in my imagination is my Camino. Watching your video, I kept saying, "I know that albergue! I stayed there! Oh, there's that cafe! That restaurant! I know right where that is!" And as the video progressed, it became more personal. "There's the very spot where ___ helped me when I was exhausted and ready to quit. There's the spot where I a stranger shared some of his bread with me. There's the spot where I..." And by the end, I was weeping when we walked into Santiago. I was no longer watching a video; I was on your journey with you. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
I’m so glad to hear the video helped you relive your experience in some way :) It’s a beautiful journey and glad that we can both connect via this shared experience. Buen camino to you and thanks for the kind words!
Beautiful tribute, David. Great to see the little vignettes of friends and fellow pilgrims traveling together, apart, and then together again in the Praza do Obradoiro as the joy and euphoria of a camino well-traveled settles in. What a special intersection with Justin and Patrick there at the end, too. When I cycled the Camino in 2002, we traveled alongside a group of wheelchair-bound pilgrims and heard Mass with them together inside the cathedral. Inspiring. Gracias y buen camino.
Thanks Craig. Wow what an amazing experience you also seemed to have back in 2002. It's happy to see that it's still a memory that seems quite vivid to you today. Hope you are well and take care. - David
Wow ... .that really brought it all back to me from my trip last year... tears streaming down my face which probably means that its time to do it again ! Thanks
Thanks Stuart! I know what you mean...I'm looking forward to another "walk" again and definitely another Camino on my list for the future. Which one would you do? Happy 2020 =)

What a wonderful video. I really enjoyed it, wonderful scenery, lovely villages, towns and cities and great company. I have been walking various caminos every year since 2011, until this year. I have walked sections of Camino Frances 5 times, including walking from StJPdeP to SdeC once. I had booked to walk from Burgos to Sahagun in April, but unfortunately I had to cancel. I am so saddened about how tough it has been for so many people in recent times. I hope that things will continue to improve and that the camino routes can open up again, for the benefit of everyone, locals and pilgrims. How I love the camino, particularly meeting people from around the world.
Wow thanks so much for your comment. Now that I've done my 1st time, I understand why people go back again and again. Meeting people from around the world. I also hope for the best...for the Camino, the locals, and everyone around the world in general. I hope you take care and buen camino!

Conhecer realmente um pais é caminhar pelas pequenas cidades do interior. Casas, ruas, monumentos, campos, animais, alimentos, pessoas ...

Think Positive and Be Positive!!! You will be given the gift to do a Camino. My prayers are with you!!!
No limits to the spirit.
Muy emocionante video. La música ayuda.😁🇪🇸💞
Precioso y emocionante!! Mi padre tiene 13 compostelanas. 13 caminos completados.
Wow. Muchas gracias Antonino y espero que estes bien y tu padre pueda regresar pronto!
Algún día lo haré

I walked the Camino in 2018, I meet with my wonderful wife on the first day at the breakfast table. Thanks for the memorys😊
Oh wow that is amazing to hear Sebastian! I love hearing stories like these on the camino :) you’re welcome
Glad you made it. I respect people who record their camino journey because I know how hard it is even just walking the way. Walked the camino in 2017. During the trip, I met wonderful people, After coming back to my country, I got baptised. Now I've been learning violin to take it with me on my second try.
Thank you so much. Wow that is very inspiring to hear. I'm also trying to do more things in my life now after the Camino. Buen camino!

Take care! - David

I tried to walk to Santigo once more in 2016, but had to take a break when I fell ill and later had to abandon after reaching the Camino del Norte. In case you're interested - information and pics are on:

Nada más emotivo que la llegada a Santiago de un peregrino.
Sí, sigo siendo emocional cuando pienso en los recuerdos!

Great scenery, lovely villages, beautiful people, tasty food...

- David

Conhecer realmente um pais é caminhar pelas pequenas cidades do interior. Casas, ruas, monumentos, campos, animais, alimentos, pessoas ...

Thanks Graham for the kind words! Yeah they're good memories to have and good memories to look forward to again (hopefully soon). Take care, David
Great video David!! I was on the Camino about a month after you, so very similar weather, and sights that took me back there in an instant. Want to do it again!!
Thanks so much Dean! The weather was fantastic and I would love to do it again during that timeframe too. I hope we get the chance!
Nice to meet you.
He departed on September 2, 2019, slept in the tent for 11 minutes and 30 seconds.
It's refreshing to see this video.
Always be healthy and happy...

Thanks a lot Steve! I cant believe it's been 3 months post-Camino...it goes by fast...but those 30 days there seemed to stretch on forever. Wow Sept-Oct 2020 is coming up...you will have an amazing time! Buen camino =)
Watch "Dos Chicas" published near the end of 2019 by a trail hiker named Dixie.

Fue una gran experiencia, sí? Buen camino, Anna =)
@@hidavidwen gracias David! Igualmente! (creo q tb eres peregrino, no?)
Sí señor. Es lo mejor q viví en mi vida, simple y llanamente. No siempre era fácil. Pero es pura felicidad. Ojalá me atreva a caminar otra vez, el camino Portugués o el de la Plata, o alguna otra ruta.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, you have shown much more with images than with 1000 words.
Hi Ruben - you're welcome and I'm so happy to hear that =) - David
David - one of the best video documentaries I have ever seen on youtube. You have captured the essence of the journey. I hope to make it there in a couple of years.
Hi Michael - thanks so much. It felt like such a long time ago, and I hope we can all be out there again. I hope you make it out there whenever you can, it will amazing. Until then, take care. - David

Felicidades.
Thanks for sharing David, great video and really enjoyed it . I've walked the Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela and it gives me the inspiration to take up the challenge to walk from St Jean Pied de Port, France.
You're welcome and happy to hear it gave you the inspiration. And thank you for the kind words. I hope you will do it from St. Jean (it's beautiful over the Pyrenees). Best, David

Muchas gracias Cecilia =) Un dia, un dia! ustedes van a hacerlo! Buen camino
Feliz 2020!
Que Hermosa experiencia y caminata. Realmente envidiable y me motiva a conecer esos lugares gracias por compartir.
Muchas gracias. Un dia, un dia! Cuidate, David
Your video is beautiful, it made me really emotional and reminded me of my very own Camino. Lovely!
Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear that. It was a great experience and glad we can celebrate together. Take care!
Wow ! It was busy! I think May and September are the busiest times now. Great video.
Yeah it was way busier than expected (I thought it would die down after August but apparently not). When did you go?
David Wen . I usually go in April, May. But busy then too...
Spain is just wonderful.
Yeah Spain is so beautiful! I hope you take care.
Mooie compilatie van de camino Frances. Goede mix van beeld en geluid. Top 👍🥾
Dank u wel! Buen camino Ed =)
Congratulations David. I enjoyed your video immensely and it was good to see the bonding that takes place when there's a shared objective with like minded people from all over the world. I did my Camino Francés Sept. 1-28 2002 so too long ago at my age to go again unfortunately. There were far fewer pilgrims back then and fewer albergues. The cost was less, blisters the same but the experience and friendships unforgettable!
Wow, thanks so much for your comment Chris! Really appreciate it, especially coming from a pilgrim who did it almost exactly 17 years ago. I can imagine how less crowded it probably was back then (before social media). But great to hear it was still the same type of experience-the friendships, blisters, and bonding! =)
Que LINDO e emocionante. Um sonho que habita meus sonhos desde criança. OBRIGADO
Super schönes Video! Der Camino ist einfach traumhaft!!!!
Buen Camino
Congrats to you and your Camino family. Exquiste cinematography, beautifully edited. Over the last 10 years, my wife has walked parts of the Camino 3 times for a total of 1,600 km. Now in her 70s she's stopped walking but still does free presentations to interested groups, usually in churches. I assist her presentations by providing A/V support. With your permission, we would like to include a couple of short clips from your film, of course, with attribution. Thanks in advance.
Hi Mark. First off, thanks so much for your kind words-I really appreciate it. Second, wow. Your wife is amazing and inspiring. Yes, I would be extremely happy to assist her in her presentations. Please use the clips and please send a big hello and buen camino to your wife!
Amazing video David!!!! Can’t wait to do my first Camino next year!!
Thanks Tony! Oh wow nice, you will love it. Buen camino! - David
You have created an awe-inspiring masterpiece!
Thanks Kenneth for your kind words. Take care!
This video was a delight to see just because it made me remember what I've felt on my first camino. It's a nice and sweet video, David. Thanks for that.
I'm weeks before my second camino and I can't wait now.
Buen camino to everyone.
Hey there Vladimiro - oh I'm glad to hear! You're welcome. Wow I'm excited for you and your second camino. I would also love to do another camino soon so buen camino to you and everyone!
