It is good not to go buy more storage containers until after your husband goes through those wires and such -- you may get a few more emptied and save the $$$. By the way, I love your quote at the beginning about doing what we can, resting when we need to, not feeling guilt, etc.

I love your basement sorting sessions. We don't have a basement (thank goodness, otherwise it would be full) but our garage is used for storage, aka dumpage, and my husband isn't really interested in sorting and hates taking things to the nearby charity shop. Maybe next week...

We had leftover Ratatouille and a mini meatloaf for dinner Saturday. We continued planting for fall. Imam working on edging around our decorative garden beds. Will give a more polished look, just a few feet a day will get it done. Redid my spice tray and polishing a copper pan a day to wrap up my kitchen zone. Just grateful for our little home , especially today.

Since you are getting rid of the empty shelf in the corner, you could put the suitcases over there, out of the way. That would free up the shelves which are easier to see what you store on them. You are doing amazing at decluttering! ❤️☀️💥🌻🌈

I love your videos! I enjoy them every week and they encourage me to do more every week so thank you!! You mentioned you couldn’t get the Rubbermaid’s all at once. I recommend not getting them until the end of your decluttering anyways, you won’t know how many you need or what size you need until you know what all you are keeping. And to be honest, with my decluttering it’s always changing. I just decluttered my whole house, moved across country (we are a military family so nothing new) and already as I’m unboxing, I’m getting rid of more 🤦♀️. It’s a constant thing. The more you go through your stuff, the less attached you get to stuff I feel. So use what you have, don’t go out and buy more. Sending lots of decluttering vibes your way!

“Recycled” many wires/cords at Best Buy. Wish I had known about that two years ago when I downsized the company office. Many items did go to e-waste but most of the cords were put in the trash.

Hi Julie!! Yes, my husband is a tech kinda guy! He saves broken laptops and then when something breaks on one he pulls that part out of another. That and he also will get laptops at the dump and fix them. I was glad they fit in one box! I have a gardening zone in my basement. I put all my vases in that area. Gardening/flowers...In my brain it works that I would look for them there. I hope that helps.

We STILL have the SAME Lobster pot from when my hubby was stationed in Maine many years ago, which has NOT been used to cook lobster in since then, 😂 but I have used the lid and bottom section as a water bath canner. I still have way too many books, computer /electronics cables & parts but I have much less now than I did. 😁 A work in progress, I keep reminding myself. You are really knocking it out of the park with the decluttering. Great job! I also store my suitcases, laptop bags, purses, etc, inside each other to conserve space. Hi Cindy!! That was a great idea to use the lobster pot for a canner!! Ingenuity!! It is super hot in Maine today...93 and humid! My husband left with my son today in our van. Our A/C is broken in the smaller car that I have and we are waiting for a part to come in! So it was hot hot hot!! Now I am home and in the house A/C...BLESSED!! I am a work in progress too! Check your hazardous waste facility to see if they will take the cords. Ours did thank God. We had old extension cords . I need to have my son go through miles of his cords to game stations or whatever and make a trip.

I think you are doing a wonderful job in the basement. When I was donating books I put them in the reusable shopping bags. I filled them so that they were not too heavy for me to take out to the car or out of the car etc. I got mine at Hannaford as they were 2/$1.00 (Worth the investment ...and sturdy).

Yay!! More progress!! Great job! So could you repurpose the shelf from the corner that you cleared and put it on the wall at bottom of stairs for more food/cleaning back stock items? Maybe even make a shelf for all the misc kitchen appliances etc. /So on Saturday, my first day of retirement, my cousin is coming to help build a 6x6 outdoor shed. I want to move out all garden stuff, grill, and tools and make a place for patio chairs, umbrella etc and get them out of the garage. (No basement here). I’ll send you pictures now that decluttering will be my new retirement project on steriods! /What?!!! A Mainer throwing out a good lahhhbster pot?!!! Got a good giggle on that! Have a wonderful week! Stuff they had their whole marriage. Never thought I would ever can. Now I’m becoming interested and could kick myself for selling it all.
Love your videos! Do you have a different charity that could do a pick up at your house? We have several local charities in North Georgia that do that, as well as Salvation Army. Also, the more you declutter, the fewer bins you will need. I would wait until you are finished, then assess what you have and buy what you need. Otherwise, you might end up just shuffling tubs around!

Karen what a great video! We STILL have the SAME Lobster pot from when my hubby was stationed in Maine many years ago, which has NOT been used to cook lobster in since then, 😂 but I have used the lid and bottom section as a water bath canner. I still have way too many books, computer /electronics cables & parts but I have much less now than I did. 😁 A work in progress, I keep reminding myself. You are really knocking it out of the park with the decluttering. Great job! I also store my suitcases, laptop bags, purses, etc, inside each other to conserve space. I can’t wait to see the collab with Michelle! 😁 Hope you are staying cool in the summer heat, it’s sweltering here in Bama. 🌞 I loved the tops you wore in this video. Hi Cindy!! That was a great idea to use the lobster pot for a canner!! Ingenuity!! It is super hot in Maine today...93 and humid! My husband left with my son today in our van. Our A/C is broken in the smaller car that I have and we are waiting for a part to come in! So it was hot hot hot!! Now I am home and in the house A/C...BLESSED!! I am a work in progress too! I feel a lot of guilt for having new clothes which I bought when I lost a lot of weight . I gained it all back and wore them rarely. some have still the tags on it....🙈🙈🙈😪

Check your hazardous waste facility to see if they will take the cords. Ours did thank God. We had old extension cords . I need to have my son go through miles of his cords to game stations or whatever and make a trip.

I think you are doing a wonderful job in the basement. When I was donating books I put them in the reusable shopping bags. I filled them so that they were not too heavy for me to take out to the car or out of the car etc. I got mine at Hannaford as they were 2/$1.00 (Worth the investment ...and sturdy).

Yay!! More progress!! Great job! So could you repurpose the shelf from the corner that you cleared and put it on the wall at bottom of stairs for more food/cleaning back stock items? Maybe even make a shelf for all the misc kitchen appliances etc. /So on Saturday, my first day of retirement, my cousin is coming to help build a 6x6 outdoor shed. I want to move out all garden stuff, grill, and tools and make a place for patio chairs, umbrella etc and get them out of the garage. (No basement here). I’ll send you pictures now that decluttering will be my new retirement project on steriods! /What?!!! A Mainer throwing out a good lahhhbster pot?!!! Got a good giggle on that! Have a wonderful week! Love your videos! Do you have a different charity that could do a pick up at your house? We have several local charities in North Georgia that do that, as well as Salvation Army. Also, the more you declutter, the fewer bins you will need. I would wait until you are finished, then assess what you have and buy what you need. Otherwise, you might end up just shuffling tubs around!

what about donating to Salvation Army, church outreach, community charities (call your county to inquire) in case your Goodwill is not accepting donations. I also have success just leaving things at the end of the driveway, it is always taken!
